I recommend Playa Mia if you are taking children with you. We had a blast there and they play games with the guests and give away shirts. :)

We have been to Nachi, Mr. Sanchos & Playa Mia. All were well worth the money. Didn't have any complaints about any of them. We are going to Nachi again in December because it's just DH & myself. More peaceful and relaxing there.

We used Native Way & did the Rays, Reef & Rum Point. We had a blast! There were 9 of us on the boat, not at all crowded and we had plenty of time everywhere. Would highly recommend this tour. :)

Where did you go to listen to jazz? DH & I are staying at there in December and that is something we would like to do.
-
Just booked and we got the Hilton Riverside for $99. Yay!
-
We always brought ours home too and I agree, its not the taste that mattered, its the little something extra that was just nice.
-
Looks like Hilton Riverside...$99 is a good price for a saturday night.
Thank you. Was hoping that's the one it was. :)

Still haven't booked a room, any thoughts on what the 4* fq Mississippi river area for Dec 3 is?

Why would they need to run a trial? Both of these ports have done no staggered check-ins for years prior to Carnival adopting this new format.

I was wondering the same thing....

Love your review and the pictures! Thank you!

The Garden District is just a short streetcar ride to the French Quarter. You can get day passes for $3.00.

My husband & I were talking about this the other day. After our December cruise, we will be one day away from gold. Was wondering if we would show as gold on our May cruise.

Hi Silverspringcruiser :)
My answer is slightly outside of the box and really doesn't have anything
in common regarding having more fun, however it is has a common aspect
concerning the title of your post, 'Stuff you didn't think to do until you were
a repeat cruiser'...
After our very 1st voyage 31 years ago, my wife & I wrote down everything
we experienced when we got home. From our 2nd voyage on, until the present,
we decided to keep cruise journals.
Prior to going to sleep each evening my wife & I discuss the days events and
log them.
We have been doing this for over three decades now and have many journals.
The strolls down memory lane are wonderful. In some ways more entertaining
than the photo's or video we have collected over the years.
Even picking out/purchasing the journal prior to the cruise has become
a fun task in itself.
To us, it is another way, an interesting way, to save and also relive the
voyage...
:)
I love this! Thank you for such a fantastic idea!

Anyone have them?

Thank you!

We have never had a problem leaving things for short amounts of time on the ship or on excursions. Of course, we don't leave anything of value.
-
Any recommendations?
-
We usually make an image and have it printed on a large magnet from VistaPrint. We also make up small business card size magnets and place them around our door and on random places on the ship so people can take them. Trying to decide now what this years will be.

Awesome! Thank you so much for your reply!

Saint Greg, I have been looking through this thread and I must say, I am impressed with your skills! I have never used Hotwire or any of those type sites, but I am curious. Any insight as to what hotel is which in the Garden District, December 3rd date?
-
I would have to recommend Javia Shaw with http://www.knowjamaica.com/ as well. Fantastic service.
-
We just put what ship, the dates & where we were going & that the other parent agreed. Gave it to them & they had it notarized & gave it back.

Hampton Inn garden district has a park & cruise rate if you are still looking. It's around 150 total. There is a streetcar right outside that will take you to the FQ.

We will be in GC from 7a-4p, will that be enough time to do a 5 hour tour with Nativeway and do some shopping? We have never been to a tender port. The tour drops us back off at the port, but I would like to do some shopping before going back to the ship. We mainly are looking for BBD rum & rum cakes. From what I have gathered on here, we can get the BBD rum at the landmark building, but what about the rum cakes? Also, are these places within walking distance of the port?
Any info is GREATLY appreciated. :)

Nachi is my favorite if it's just DH & me. I love the relaxed atmosphere and the service, food and drinks are amazing there.
