  1. Last year on the Magic we had about $1400 in OBC due to price drops. The guy at the desk said it was non-refundable. I went to their little kiosk machine and withdrew cash against my OBC. Not knowing if it would really work, I started with $200 then checked my account the next day. No problems as I had the cash and my OBC decreased by $200. Two more $600 withdrawals and my OBC was down to zero...and I had a pile of cash in the safe. Of course we then charged a few items and gratuities against our account, but I would have rather had a small bill at the end then risk losing OBC.

I didn't know you could withdraw cash from your obc! That would be the quickest, easiest way to deal with it.

  2. Thanks everyone! Yes it is from early saver price drops, I always thought they were refundable also, but pvp said no and I've never tested it because we don't have any problem using it up generally. His documents don't say that is is nonrefundable, it just has it listed and then it lists $25 as refundable, that $25 is from the military appreciation month promotion. Anyway thanks again!

  3. My dad has over $1200 in nonrefundable OBC. He doesn't drink, gamble, or take ship excursions. He's not interested in the steakhouse or photos. He's thinking maybe he could shop for xmas presents at the shops, but I have my doubts he could manage to use up so much with their selections. I thought I had read that he could cash out in the casino, but my pvp said he could only cash out winnings, not the original amount he uses. I thought maybe we could give him cash and he could transfer some to our account. Is there any way of doing that besides putting us on his account?

  4. We have had a cruise booked for a year for Sept and the price has gone up $400, we didn't book early saver so I don't expect any price drops, but if you have booked early saver its still possible especially after final payment. We have a cruise booked for June and I didn't think we'd get any drops being summer and all, but since final payment we've had $310 in drops.

  5. At 18 he probably wouldn't be questioned, but we did see the bartender asking kids in the EA sports bar playing video games to leave because they didn't have a parent with them. My son was with me and we were at a table and they never said anything. But at the Havana Bar, my son (13) came and sat on a stool next to me to tell me about what he'd been doing at Circle C and the bartender said he wasn't really allowed to be there. He told me to finish my drink, but asked that next time we sit at a table. I asked about it at the Blue Iguana later and they said kids aren't allowed to sit on the stools at any of the bars, but the tables were fine. This was the first time we had been told that, but then again they don't generally hang out at the bar with us, just pop into to tell us what they just did and what they can't wait to do next, LOL.

  6. I knew ours were linked this time when I went into the booking for our room to purchase a shore excursion and the kids' names popped up to be added along with ours. On our last cruise they weren't linked and I had to purchase shore excursions separately for each room. That was the only thing I noticed but we don't eat in the dining room or anything, so it didn't matter for that.

  7. I agree that the crew can make or break a cruise. Sounds like the crew we encountered on the Sunshine. Its not stopping us from cruising with Carnival though because that was our 3rd cruise and that crew was the opposite of what we had experienced on the other 2 ships. We have 2 booked on the Dream this year. Can't wait!

  8. First off I have to say that the last 3 trips with Carnival went off without a hitch. No problems, love early saver, had fun on Carnival, yadda, yadda, yadda...

This summer booking, though, seems to have everything go wrong that possibly can go wrong ( with the booking aspect).

We booked our trip last April with Early Saver. We had our $100 OBC for booking a cruise while on our last cruise. We booked 2 rooms using 2 of these $100 credits each on our 7 day cruise since we had two rooms last vacation.

Well, every time we have called in or submitted a price protection form, we have had:

    A. the correct reduction made- but OBC not added to our account or reduced amount on our CC ( even though paying in full)

    B. The $100 original OBC wiped off completely

    C. An agent on the phone wipe everything out completely and hang up

    D. The wrong reduction made and all OBC wiped down to about $50

    E. both A+B

    F. Change our Early Saver to a different rate and "upcharge" our account with the new rate by $100 to give us an extra $50 OBC. ( this was new to me- but apparently could be done at the time they were "upgrading" their system by someone not knowing what they were doing)

All I can say is each time I was told that they are updating their systems and having glitches galore. I have had to call numerous times to get thru these issues all on separate occasions.

I spent a full total of 6 hours ( YES SIX) on the phone one day with someone from accounting getting this all straightened out and faxing and copying back and forth.

We had to go date by date, reduction/change by change. Thank goodness I keep copies of all my emails from Carnival and hard copies of my paperwork from my account or it really would have been more of a mess than it already was.

So for everyone- I recommend to keep hard copies of everything and save, save, save those emails you get after receiving your OBC and what nots. They do come in handy when you have issues and the only way you can prove anything is by keeping those copies

Hope this can help others out. I have also been told to keep the hard copies on me when I get on the boat in case of any additional issues.

We have noticed several problems with price adjustments also. Two of the 4 cabins we have booked right now for 2 separate cruises were booked through a pvp. Those 2 have been a breeze, the pvp takes care of everything with no problems. The other 2 were booked online and our pvp can't touch them so they require at least 20 minutes on the phone to get a price drop because the early saver form is always denied. I will never book online again.

  9. I love NOLa too. We sailed in Jan on Sunshine and it was such a cluster F at the terminal. Granted we got there a little later 11ish but we have to to weave through people standing in line to board, people standing not knowing what to do and all the chairs to get to the BACK of the terminal to the check in. Before the check in was the FRONT and you waited at the back! It was NOT a fun experience. I'm hoping they where just working out the kinks!!

I thought it was weird and backward too. We were there at Christmas. We didn't have any crowds or wait, but I still didn't like their setup. Liked it better the way it was before. Hope its better in June

  10. I accidently ended up with a pvp for one of my upcoming cruises. I've always booked online and I hate having to call someone at Carnival. 90% of the time I just end up annoyed. So I didn't see the benefit of a pvp, when I could just do everything myself online.

I was having an issue booking our cabins online after I booked my dads cabin and I wanted to be next door to him and when it wouldn't go through, I broke down and called. The guy who answered was great! He gave me his work and cell numbers before I got off the phone in case I needed anything else. I wrote them down, but didn't think I would ever call him.

Well a couple of days ago, I noticed the military price was $60 less than what we had paid. So I sent in the early saver form for one of our cabins and my dad's cabin. Both were denied. So I called our new pvp. I left a message and he called me back in about 30 minutes. I told him about the price drop and he immediately took care of it. I was on the phone all of 3 minutes. Awesome! Unfortunately he couldn't do my dad's because his had been booked online, he tried but the system wouldn't let him. So a few minutes later I put a call into customer service to get my dads credit. Well I finally got it, but it took 25 minutes of me wanting to reach through the phone and strangle someone! I love my pvp and will never book online again! Only wish I could somehow change our September cruise that I booked online last year over to him.

  11. I can't find my pictures of the room, but here are some of the balcony

This site has pictures of the room and some more of the balcony...

    Dream Cabin 9472

We did have a chair and a table in the room, and we didn't miss the couch..

    Hope that helps

Thanks for the Pics! We have this room in September! Can't wait! We'll be on the Dream for the first time with our first cove balcony in June. Was going to try to sneak a peek at 9472 while on that cruise :D

  12. We parked at the port for the first time in December and it was unbelievably easy! That is definitely what we will do in the future. Getting out was a breeze also. The only hold up I found weird is that they don't have a pay booth, its a machine. A person is standing there to do it for you, but its takes a bit of time to feed $112 into a machine. Seemed silly to me.
