  1. We will be in Nassau in early March and was wondering what the water temps would be inside the park? I know the ocean will still be a little cold, but my kids will likely just enjoy the waterslides.

Also, if I pre-purchase a day pass through Atlantis and it rains, will they issue a refund?

    Thanks!!

  2. My husband and I bought it and I regretted it afterwards because I constantly felt the need to drink to "get my monies worth". [emoji23] I mostly drink the frozen drinks and by the time we went to dinner I was so full that I couldn't eat a lot of my meal. The frozen drinks on the ship we were on weren't very strong either. As many as I drank I should have been stumbling around but I pretty much felt sober the entire time.

I calculated the number that we drank versus what cheers cost us and it was pretty much a wash. I would have saved money if we just paid as we go because I wouldn't have drank as much as I did.

  3. By the way, you don't have to keep track of how many you drink each day to do a comparison. Your final statement will have all of your drinks that you ordered at $0 plus gratuity. We just counted them up and assigned a price and figured it that way. We pretty much broke even.

  4. We were booked on this cruise. As soon as we received notice that the cruise was cancelled we started looking for different options. Probably right along with everyone else. All cruises out of Galveston are full. We even checked New Orleans since we drove down from Okla. We ended up booking a 7 day out of Miami and will fly out in the morning and board the ship. It was either find an alternative or turn around and drive 10 hours back home. My husband was using the last of his vacation so we made it work.

  5. If you have the option, check different airports. We are driving 4 hours to Dallas because flights are 1/2 the cost and there are 4 airline tickets to buy.

Check Spirit Airlines (although it doesn't service all airports). We flew to Miami last year for $200 round trip. They also fly to PR but American out of Dallas was actually cheaper for us this time around.

  6. One thing I get is a very cheap watch to take onshore with me. Since cell phones will always change time to match your time zone and the ship may or may not do that, I take a watch onshore set to whatever time the ship is using that way we always know. I think the last one I bought was less than $10 at Walmart.

I am always worried about my cell phone updating to local time and then getting confused in regard to what time I REALLY need to head back to the ship! Great idea!

  7. Thanks! I'm pretty excited! It will be our first time. It's just me and my kids cruising this time, so I'm not going to tell them about it, so they will be surprised when they walk in!! We usually get two cabins and the 3 of them are usually stuck in an interior together..lol.

  8. Yes there are two different GS on the Fascination. The more expensive one has an extended balcony. The $500 price she offered was for the regular GS. I had cruisedeckplans pulled up to confirm which room she was offering.

  9. We are booked on the Fascination for a May sailing. I received an upgrade call from Carnival to move from a Balcony to a Grand Suite for $500, which I turned down at the time.

Out of curiosity and to see how many GS were available, I went to the website and did a mock booking. The price difference was $360 more than what I booked our balcony room for.

So I called Carnival and mentioned that I wanted to check on the possibility of an upgrade. I gave her the mock booking price, room #, and rate that I used for the mock booking. She checked my original rate to make sure it allowed changes and confirmed that the difference would only be $360 which I went ahead and paid!

Just a little heads up to double check the rate to make sure you are getting the best deal with an upgrade.

  10. I have read that the sodas are not included either. But what is to stop you from bringing some of your cheers allotment in a personal cooler? You can request they leave the lids on beers.

From Carnival site: Note: This program is not offered at Half Moon Cay and Little Stirrup Cay.

I thought they wouldn't let you leave the lids on the beers? Anyone know this for certain?

  11. Dear Carnival newbie...

Don't waste the effort in bringing on soda, water, wine, or smuggling booze. Unless you cruise to become inebriated a few glasses of wine or a drink or two during the day won't break the bank. Liquids on the ship are adequate, ship's water is tasty (bring along a water bottle and fill er up).

I have to disagree with this statement. I always bring bottled water because like others have said, sometimes the water on the ship is just nasty! If you don't drink much water or are not picky, then this may not be an issue for you.

I always bring wine. Each person 21 and over is allowed to bring 1 750ml bottle of wine. You have to carry it on, don't put it in your checked luggage.
