Does anyone know what the current taxi fair is to West Bay? I have heard that the taxi will wait for you whiile you are there? So I assume it's a round trip fair?
I'm just wanting to compare this to Victor Bodden's prices. If it's around $20 round trip, we may be better off just booking a tour with Victor for $25 pp since there are 5 of us.

Right now I have 2 interior rooms booked. There are several balconys available for about $300 more. If even more balconys open up after final payment date or the rate drops even more, can I still move to a balcony and pay the difference?
I can't remember what rate I booked, but it was a $250 deposit and I could cancel the cruise and get my deposit back up until the final payment date. I looked on carnival.com under my booking, but I still can't see which rate I booked under.
I would also have to move the other interior room close by as there are two teens under 21 booked in that room. I assume they could move with no additional charges as long as they moved to another interior? Or does it have to be the same 4F interior category?
One more question, if an oceanview room is cheaper than an interior (after final payment date), can I still move to that room?
Thanks for the help!! This is so confusing sometimes!

I was considering Mr. Sanchos all inclusive for my family of 5, but I am thinking (price-wise) that I may be better off doing the Pay As You Go. I would be paying for 4 adults and 1 child which would amount to $255. Three of the adults are 18 and up so they could drink, but I don't imagine they would drink much, plus myself and a 6 year old.
Does anyone know how much it is to get into the Pay As You Go beach? I'm not worried about the lack of pool in this area as we prefer the ocean, but how does the beach area compare to the all inclusive beach area? Is it just as nice? More crowded or less crowded? I assume you can still get drinks and food in this area? Is there any good snorkeling at Mr. Sanchos?

I like the Empress deck.

You are better off looking in the Ports of Call forum for suggestions. I have stayed at the Holiday Inn in Gretna. They have free parking the duration of the cruise, but you have to take a taxi to the port. I beleive La Quinta in Gretna also has free parking and a shuttle.

I was watching You Tube videos last night of Carnival pier runners. There were a few instances where the ship actually pulled back up and picked up the pier runners and other instances where others were left behind. I would assume it's the captains call if they leave them or pick them up?
I was also wondering what would happen if a pier runner actually jumped in the water and tried to swim to the ship. Would this cause the ship to stop? Lol. I'm surprised that someone who was desperate hasn't tried this or maybe they have and I have not heard about it?

I wonder if you could bring a jug of juice rather than the individual bottles?
-
I bring it with me while we are in port. Saves a lot of money when you have 5 people drinking 3-4 bottles, not to mention, I don't have to find a place to purchase it while in port.

Maison St. Charles - 2 night min. stay. Not available the week we needed it.
Holiday Inn Downtown Superdome - $158.99 for 2 doubles Park & Cruise. No shuttle
Holiday Inn in Gretna - $134 Park & Cruise. No Shuttle
Ambassador Hotel - They called this park & cruise..$32 per night for parking
Sheraton Metarie - $139 Park & Cruise. No Shuttle
Sheraton 4 Points @ Airport - $109 Park & Cruise. No Shuttle
Sheraton Western NOLA Canal - $18 parking per night.
Drury Inn - No longer offer park & cruise.
Embassy Suites - $189 Park & Cruise. No Shuttle
Stay Bridge NOLA - $202 Park & Cruise. No Shuttle
Quality Inn in Gretna - $139 Park & Cruise for 2; $5 ea. additional adult. Has shuttle.
I decided to use my Marriot points to get a room at the Fairfield Inn at the airport and we will use Fulton for parking.

We are considering a private tour with Bodden. They have a snorkle package for $20 more and it takes you to Blue Channel by boat. Is this a good place to snorkle or would we be better off just going to the West Bay?

When we purchased a build a bear, it came in a box with everything we needed. We just took the box and left and made the bear later.

We stayed at the Holiday Inn in Gretna during our last cruise. It included breakfast, but no shuttle to or from the cruise terminal. They did let us park there for the duration of the cruise free of charge.
There were 10 of us in our group. The husbands dropped the wives, kids and luggage off at the terminal and drove back to the hotel to park. Then they took a taxi back to the terminal (about $20). It worked out well.

I have been trying to decide how I want to book this excursion for our July 22 cruise. But I just received an email about a change in our itinerary, so I may go ahead and book on our own.
I was a little worried when I heard we had an itinerary change. But it wasn't a problem at all. She had several time slots open and we are a group of 10, so we almost take up the entire slot on our own.

I'm sailing with Carnival. In regard to the Dolphin Discovery non-compete clause..if I book with them direct and tell them I'm on a different ship or staying at a hotel, what happens if the ship changes their port day? Do I lose my money or can I change our reservation at the last minute? Cozumel will be our last stop.
In regard to my own question, yes this has come true. Carnival has rearranged our schedule. I called the park and they were very accomodating and changed our reservation to match the new itinerary. I didn't mention anything other than we needed to change the date and they did it! Will let everyone know how it goes when I get back!!! Leaving in 5 days!!:D

So tell me more about the Pork Pit. What kind of food does that entail? Better than Margaritaville??

Check out Chankanaab. Awesome snorkeling with lots of fish. The entrance to the water is rocky but there are stairs carved out. There is a sandy beach with chairs for you to relax.
