  1. Sorry to be dim (again!) sailaway. I can see the review on there, but I can't see how you put one on :o

Fill in this form in a post:

    Cabin Review Format

    Cabin Number:

    Cruise Ship:

    Date of Cruise:

    Bed Formation:

    Bath/Shower?:

    Adjoining Cabin?:

    Balcony?:

Then, I transfer it over to the spreadsheet. I could do it as a public edit spreadsheet, but I thought if I did that then, as anyone can edit it, we'd probably end up with people messing about with it, deleting reviews, so I thought it was best to make it read only.

Joe added his review on my blog. I'm guessing that is probably what confused you. ;)

Just copy and paste the Cabin Review Format above into a post, and then fill it in. :)

  2. Below is a spreadsheet with cabin reviews from Thomson and Island cruisers. The spreadsheet includes information such as the cabin number, category, any noise issues, storage space etc.

View Thomson Cruises Cabin Reviews here

To use, simply click the link above, and you can then filter the reviews by clicking on the drop down box in Column A, and choosing the cabin number you wish to find a review on. Or, you could filter it by choosing only the cabins that have a bath, those that are recommended or the cabins that have the highest score out of 10 etc.

If you want to save the spreadsheet to your computer, click the Go to spreadsheet view at the top, and click on File > Download as, then choose the type of document you want to save it as.

The spreadsheet is to help and advise those to which cabins are the best to book, and those that might have some issues. To do this, we need your reviews. When you return from your Thomson or Island Cruise, copy and paste the Cabin Review Format below into a post, and fill it in. If you have taken any images of the cabin, then add the link to where these can be found on the 'Link to any Images' line. The more reviews there are, the more helpful this spreadsheet will be to many. :)

An Example of How to Fill in the Cabin Review (this review is entirely fictitious)

    Cabin Number: 5002

    Cruise Ship: Thomson Dream

    Date of Cruise: June 2011

Bed Formation: Double bed but could be converted into a twin.

    Bath/Shower?: Shower only

    Adjoining Cabin?: No

    Balcony?: No

Comment on the Size of the Cabin: Spacious cabin with plenty of room around the sides of the bed.

Comment on any Noise Issues: Fairly quiet, although you can hear the neighbours TV sometimes because of the thin walls.

Comment on Storage Space: Plenty of wardrobe space, although there was little drawer space.

Comment on the Bathroom: Large bathroom in a good condition. Could have done with a shower door instead of a shower curtain.

Any Other Comments?: A well-sized cabin, with light wooden walls. In a good condition, out of the way at the front of the ship. Could have done with some more drawers.

Would You Recommend this Cabin?: Yes

    Link to any Images: N/A

    Score out of 10: 7.5

Many thanks for anyone who submits their review, as I'm sure it will help many cruisers. :) :)

  3. Thanks a lot for uploading all of those bar lists , personally I don't like boddingtons keg beer , real ale version is ok but doubt they would ever have that on a ship. John smiths is not to my taste either. The bottled beers look good but £2 surcharge per bottle when on all inc seems excessive as they cost them under a pound each and are saving on not serving draught.

This may be a daft question but do you have to say every time you order that you have the drinks package , or do you just order whatever and its sorted out automatically ?

On your boarding pass, which you will use almost like a credit card onboard for purchasing anything, it will have an 'AI' on it, notifying the staff you are on the drinks package. I would guess that when the bar staff swipe your boarding pass it should come up on their computer that you are on the drinks package anyway.

  4. My husband and I are getting quite concerned about what we are reading regarding the noise on the Spirit. We have not as yet booked our holiday in October but had intended to do so within the next two weeks but we are now thinking we might have to look elsewhere. We are very light sleepers (much to our annoyance) however this is something we just can`t help.

If anyone can assist with some knowledge/information about the best and worst cabins I would really appreciate the advice.

We had just intended to book Deck 2, somewhere in the middle, as opposed to higher decks on the ship (and spend the saving on excursions etc.) however it would appear that the noise is everywhere. We would be happy to go `up` the way if that would help.

    Thanks in the meantime

Yes it is true that Thomson Spirit does suffer from a vibration problem, but personally it has never affected me sleeping at night before. There are some areas of the ship that it is most recognised, mainly the areas at the back. I have had a cabin on Deck 2 three times now and have never had a problem in sleeping and wouldn't stop me booking again. I would make sure though that you pay the £39 to pre-book a cabin, and I would go for any cabin from 680 upwards. The cabins past the stairs right at the front (600 to 659) have an L-shaped layout which isn't the most ideal layout. 716 and 711 are most definitely the best cabins as they are double the size of others. The only downside is that they are next to the gangway area, but not much noise should be experienced.

  5. Athough I was on deck 7 I did a walkabout of Dream while we were at sea and can confirm that those cabins seemed to be in a very noisey area. A lot of the noise seemed to come from the ceiling and there is also that mysterious white space which may contain air conditioning plant? I thought it a bit of a con to have to pay extra for that area.

Thinks. Thomson are not going to like this topic ;)

Didn't stay in these cabins either but we used to cut through from Stairway A or the upstairs of the Broadway Show Lounge to the Lido Restaurant and that area in the middle seemed very noisy. That blank white space is also on Deck 10 too, so don't know if this is also the case there. Interestingly, the corridor next to the Ocean Bar and Argo Lounge was also noisy, right below this mystery white space.

  6. Thomson Dream

The cabins on Deck 9 mid-ship (9019 to 9040) had a very loud vibrating news, I think coming from some sort of generator or something in the middle. Seemed quite a noisy area anyway.

    Thomson Celebration & Thomson Spirit

Decks 1 and 2 (and maybe decks 3 and 4 also) cabins at the back suffer from a vibration noise from the engine. If on these decks, I would try and book anything mid-ship to the front.
