    Hi Jim,

Here I am very late in my reply busy with getting my personal taxes completed.  Now! If you guys ever return to my home port of Charlottetown again in the future I would love to show off my Island to you and Iain. I will even include a trip to Linda's fav Pei Preserve Co.

Was on the Silhouette in Feb all set to buy an iPad with my OBC. Unfortunately they had none in stock  on my sailing and I was disappointed. It’s not like a normal Apple Store.

Just off the Silhouette Last Thursday and the "apple" selection was dismal.  Disappointed to see how such little effort is put into the Celebrity iLounge now. A few not apple accessories were for sale. Even on Edge last year I felt lucky to get one of the final remaining current model ipad minis available.

....  And, once upon a time, when I was having a hard time finding a private tour in Prince Edward Island, a cruiser who lived there said he would take me out for the day.  Had a wonderful time.  I did not know either of these people personally.

We were so hoping to see you again on Silhouette 10 Day March 25. I would of had a jar of your fav Prince Edward Island Preserves with me.

Oh dear "teen-age" another word/phrase we can't use. Our grandson insists he will be a "teen" in June not a "teenager". Oh yes and when I ask how he got on at Ice Hockey his standard reply is "it's just hockey Grandpa".

I agree with your grandson it is just Hockey.  But, Colour Labour Harbour is the correct way to spell. I would intentionally spell "Labour" our way when I would send financial reports to our US head office. Even as I type this auto correct putting the red squiggle under my words.

My brother in law is sailing with us in May next year. He drinks at least 6 TWO LITERS of Diet Coke every day.

I love my Coke Zero and have recently reduced my intake from 4-6 cans per day down to 1 or less. Now your BIL 6 2L per day?  That is a total of 12000ml or 34 cans of Diet Coke(355ml) per day. That sure is a lot of aspartame for they "old guts".  My old body feels much better with my recent reduction.

Just a quick photo of our cabin, 9239 mid ship concierge. We missed the concierge embarkation lunch but it was offered until 1pm.
our cabin is directly next to our sons, and the steward very kindly opened the balconies up so we have one big shared area between us.

Is your son's room 9241 or 9237?  If 9241 tell them to take good care of it because we have booked for March 2024. If not then knock on the door and tell them the same. 😀

Thanks for taking the time out of your vacation to share here.

I was originally booked on an Edge cruise earlier this year in an IV cabin with another couple.  The other couple decided we should upgrade the cruise, so they called back and changed the reservation to a Sky Suite for both reservations (which were linked). When I first got on board, I noticed that I didn't have the option to sign up for premium Wi Fi. I asked our butler about it and he said perhaps that it was you booked or you bid on a move up?  Neither of those was the case.  I had to go see the Retreat Concierge on Day 2 and get it corrected.

Then decided to try out one of the MDR's on night 3 instead of Luminae, because the menu was better. Ordered our usual drinks, including sparkling water.  Next day when I checked my account, I had been charged for the water.  Back up to the Retreat Concierge, who realized that the drinks package associated with the booking was not premium either.  No one had noticed that on our sea card for 2 days in Retreat bars or restaurants?

Eventually all was corrected, but it was clearly a major screw up by the Celebrity call centre agent at the time the reservation was made.  And worse, our butler, who I never found particularly helpful throughout the cruise, did not volunteer to look into any of this for us.  All in all, it was a really poor introduction to the Retreat experience, which was duly noted on my survey.

I see the common connection now... we are both Canadian. LOL! Not being able to sign up for the premium wifi should of been our first clue. Then ordering drinks at Eden and handed a bill was the real reality of "hey this is not right".

Seriously though your story is so similar to ours. The Retreat host phoned Celebrity directly from ship and NOPE! No budge they claimed we booked as a "lift and shift" which was total BS and just pure laziness on the part of the Celebrity booking Agent. I could go on and on about this major dampening on start of our cruise. But, within 2 hours our TA had it all resolved received call from Guest service to come get new cards with all perks added.

I take an adapter purchased on Amazon to use the European plug at the desk and then plug in a multi-port USB hub also purchased there to charge all our devices and keep the US plugs free.

This is a link to the adapter. The multiport USB I purchased several years ago and that particular one is no longer offered but there are many others available. Just be sure it's not surge protected. Most aren't.

Just a caution on this one... This is an adapter and NOT a converter so if you plug a North American type device into it expecting just 110v you are going to get 220v. But, with that said it would be fine for most USB charger because they can you usually handle both voltages.

Lean Six Sigma is a method of process improvement focusing on elimination of errors/defects in a process.  Lean Certification is from the Society of Mechanical Engineers and Lean focuses on elimination of waste (known as Muda) in processes.   Those certifications mean I specialize in growing efficiency, reduce costs, improve satisfaction, based on the Voice of the Customer (us, in this case!).

Just to add to this. Six Sigma was basically invented by Toyota which gave them a competitive advantage in manufacturing but, they freely shared it with it's competitors and other industries. I worked for Honeywell's Aerospace division, here on Pei, from 2007-2011 and they required that every employee be certified in Six Sigma Green Belt and I also believe if your are a Prof. engineer you must also become certified in Black Belt. Like most things in this world it based on common sense.

I have to ask are you or have you worked at Toyota or Honeywell? I am an ex-Honeywell finance employee with a Six Sigma Green Belt cert. I like to 5s things.(sigma code)

I've been able to hook up both FireStick and Roku on al classes of ships -  M - S and E (only Edge).

With all ships the main challenge is to Log onto the ship's wifi using the captive logon portal.   Roku uses a work around where you can connect you phone to the Roku and then use a web site to logon.  Firestick is suppose to open a popup but I've never been able to get it to do s

    Hi Jim,

Thanks for reply.  I had no problem getting a popup on my fire stick at the embassy suites in Fort Lauderdale. My question to you is how did you get your firestick or Roku device hooked into HDMI Device on your Edge stateroom tv? I actually searched YouTube and found the remote codes to get to a menu that would take it out of hotel mode but, did want to mess with that. Sticking the firestick in an available HDMI port does nothing until I know how you got tv to switch to this source?  I actually have a similar device you referenced YouTube video.

As I type this from my new iPad mini from the iLounge store.
