We were on dream when they piloted the program and NEVER saw a survey. WE still received 2x/day service but no bathrobes.

It sleeps 6 but for some reason they wouldn't let us book more than 5 into it on fascination. We passed.

6 inches? :eek:That's a little excessive don't you think. Somehow I doubt it's quite that thick. ;)
Who knows, probably? I'm just repeating what he told me. I wish I would've taken it now, but alas. I didn't.

I figured it would be one of the noisier rooms on the ship with the Lido deck being directly below it.
I wondered if you had to have a "special key" to access it. LOL!
The gentleman I spoke to,said the glass is 6 inches thick so the noise from lido wouldn't be a concern unless on the balcony.
As for the entrance, it's on sports deck and is marked private and kinda tucked away so I can see why they escort you the first time.

Take you child to the pool weekly and practice with their own gear. It's hard to become better at snorkeling if you only do it on vacation. I take my 5 year old frequently and swim on my back underneath him with my tribord easybreath so I can be sure he's doing it properly. Practice makes perfect.

Depends upon what time your flight is scheduled to arrive. If it's anytime after 9am I would take the carnival shuttle as then the ship is more likely to wait for you if your flight is delayed. FLying in the DAY OF embarkation makes me extremely anxious.

The Fascination doesn't have the Penthouse Owners Suites, they only have Grand Suites and I also would like to know the category your friend originally booked, I would have to say high category balcony?
I promise you--you are wrong. There are actually 2 of them. We're sailing on the Fascination on the 30th and we also offered the upsell. Just FYI-to upgrade from a basic balcony it was approximately +350/night for a total of +$1750 for the upgrade.

We got a huge ration of ***** from security when trying to get off in Cozumel with a carry on bag. The bag happened to be full of snorkel gear for 4 people, 2 inflatable booster seats, and inflatable beach toys (and was much easier to roll than carry.) I had to stop the line, unlock my suitcase and show them what was inside (meanwhile my kids had already dinged off the ship while and were walking out to Mexico alone while they held us.) Not a happy moment.

I'm not sure I would want that upgrade, hopefully it works out well for you.

Holy Crap we would totally do this on our next cruise. It's just a short 5 day bahamas and we could totally drink that much!! Ok, we may not but it would be fun trying.

Speaking only to the twister slide that you mentioned specifically you must be at least 42". No riding down with anyone else, 1 at a time only. No lifejackets allowed.

Here in MN it's not a big deal for them to miss school for vacations, so we don't have that concern. We take 3rd grade DD out once every year. While we try to plan it over a day or two off in the school calendar we DON'T go during spring break as that's just not our cup of tea. She'll be in 4th next year and we're doing the 11 day vista repo over thanksgiving which will require her to miss a bit of school before Thanksgiving break. I'm not at all concerned. High school is a different story entirely and I may change my tune when they're older. :)
PS I'm a teacher too. ;)

We don't travel to the ocean without our lifejackets. Even my 8 year old who can swim very well is required to wear her's in the ocean. Definitely bring it because you can't guarantee they will have any there.
-
We won't cruise without our bubble bum inflatable booster seats. Out 5 and 8 year olds need them for proper seat belt positioning. We won't get in a vehicle that doesn't have seatbelts for them.

We frequently make the drive from Minnesota to Galveston TX. It's about 18-ish hours but we split it into 2 days. We get up and are on the road by 5am and go until we're sick of it (usually 7pm with very minimal stopping.) Then, we do the other 6-ish hours the next day and enjoy the port for a day before embarking the next morning.

So glad you posted this thread OP, I had my Blue Iguana Tervis I bought on the Glory last year and it slid off my car and hit the pavement and it cracked. I'm hopeful they will be able to reuse the decal. I'm going to send it in. I wouldn't have bothered because I didn't think there was any way due to it being a Carnival tervis.
You don't need to send the blue iguana or red frog rum bar cups in, just trade it out on your next cruise as they still have them for sale on board. A friend did it on our last cruise no questions asked. Now the carnival logo tervis, those need to be sent in.

I used one on September on the Dream and it worked fabulously! I love it so I don't have to depend on others to take photos of my family.
-
It's no prob. I just brought a 4 pack on the dream in September, no questions asked.

Quick question, we have a group of 6 including one 4 year old and are planning on going to Maho beach. We've done a tour previously and are not interested in that again.
Our concern is about our 4 year old and a car seat. I know if we book a tour/reserve a driver for the day we can guarantee one. What are the chances of finding a taxi each way having one? Obviously that would be cheaper but the car seat is key,.
thanks
Please go to your local Walmart or Amazon.com and buy a bubble bum inflatable booster seat for your child. You cannot trust a car seat from a cabbie (if you are lucky enough to find one.) Bring your own inflatable booster so the seatbelt hits your 4 year old in the correct spot. They don't take up much room. We bring 1 for our 5 year old and 1 for our 8 year old.

Too funny. We just planned out our fascination excursions earlier this week and chose the same as you. I'm really looking forward to reading more about your Freeport experience.
Ps did the bc Hilton have any stand up paddle boards or was it just kayaks and snorkel stuff?

Never had that problem in September. The smoking section is pretty far away.

Thanks so much for your review, still reading it. The fascination (if we book it) will be my first small ship.
Do you happen to remember of have the fun times from all the days....does the fascination offer luggage express or a similar service where they take your luggage to the airport? It's looking like the flight won't leave JAX until around 6pm.

We bring lifejackets for both of our kids (8 and 5) and they are required for both kids in the ocean. Little one needs to wear his in the pool on board as well. It's a wise choice IMO.
