  1. They are both beautiful, but I prefer HMC because PC is a little rocky and harder to get in and out. I’m 62 and in relatively good shape but there were a lot of people struggling especially getting out. The snorkeling is quite good once you get out there - there is a pier with a gazebo at the end and there are a LOT of beautiful fish and occasional stingrays out there! I always take my own snorkel and mask when we cruise but needed fins and a vest there. The current will tire you out pretty quickly. You really can’t go wrong with either island - I wish I was there now!! Are the 2 cruises itineraries the same other than the private islands?

  2. Having been to to both twice, I would recommend Alaska. It is incredible! And as previously stated, either do the cruise/tour or at least do some type of land portion while you are there. Booking our 3rd Alaska vacation in 2019 so we can watch our grandkids experience the majesty!

  3. I totally agree about Klein Bonaire - the snorkeling was incredible! We saw several sea turtles 🐢 so I was THRILLED! Cheapest excursion we’ve done but definitely one of the best! We chose a water taxi after we got there as well and I was so glad we did! We did the 2 stop water taxi so we also went to a small hotel with a beach with a pier and the water was crystal clear- saw hundreds of fish including my favorite parrot fish!

  4. Bought them for my 8 year old granddaughter and she did not get seasick. I also keep it in the back seat pocket in my car for her as she gets nauseated riding in the car - it has really helped! As far as brand, I picked mine up at CVS for $10 I think? :)

  5. Thanks so much for your quick response.

We are actually going from Brisbane (2 days before cruise) to Sydney to Hobart to Burnie to Melbourne to Adelaide to Albany to Margaret River to Fremantle to Broome to Kimberly Coast to Darwin to Cairns to Alotau (New Guinea) to Brisbane.

As you may know Princess is not good at being able to answer questions like mine for some reason. When you look at the small picture of the cruise path it appears that they cruise between Australia and the Great Barrier Reef, just not sure how close to the GBR.

From what you indicated if they take that path during the day (and we are at sea for 2 days fro Alatau to Brisbane) we should see the GBR?

So glad I found your post! We are doing the Princess GBR cruise in Feb 2018 and are planning our before/after land excursions. May I ask how you are traveling to Sydney and the other stops you mentioned above? Rental car? Train? We have never been to Australia & I am totally lost! Thanks for any help!

  6. Call or email the TA. On the insurance I have taken out you can transfer it to another cruise. I usually buy within 7 days of booking so all pre-existing medical conditions are covered, and I wouldn't want to risk that with insurance bought later on.

Glad you brought this up - one of the main reasons we purchase travel insurance is the medical coverage.

  7. Sometimes I'm lucky and break even, but no I put in more than I take out. I used to stay ahead, but I agree the slots are MUCH tighter than they used to be. I set a small limit that I'm willing to lose each cruise and when that's gone, I'm done. There are some cruises I never play slots at all.

  8. Half Moon cay is owned by Princess not Carnival. When Princess isn't using the island Carnival will shedule a ship.

Holland America actually owns the island. Their logo is on the sign. Princess owns Princess Cay which is another beautiful island. We love both but HMC is our favorite! Princess Cay is more rocky so harder to get in and out of the water.

  9. We took an amazing tour with BRUNO - he is fantastic! We had lunch that was steamed in a pot underground in a volcano! Saw an amazing lake that was half blue and half green. And visited Europes only tea plantation and sampled different teas! If you want his contact info, I can pull it out if my travel folder! Beautiful country!!!

  11. I made no comment regarding the article. Just shared it for information. It could happen anywhere, correct. But it happens some places more than others. Whether this is one of those places, I don't know. Why are you so defensive?

And actually I do feel safer in the U.S. because I can legally carry in the U.S. if I want to but can't in other countries. :p

  12. We started buying travel insurance several years ago after we had to cancel a cruise when a family member died unexpectedly. Carnival didn't have to refund but they gave us half back on our credit card and half in the form of future cruise credit. We were very lucky and decided after that experience we would ALWAYS buy insurance! We buy from Allianz Travel Insurance and it is always cheaper than the cruise line prices. We have filed a claim since then and although it took several weeks, we did receive a refund. In addition to cancellation coverage, the medical evacuation insurance Is VERY important and could cost a fortune if someone has to be airlifted and flown to a hospital or back home. I hate paying for insurance for anything, but we decided we can't afford not to buy it!

  13. I guess I don't understand your posting. How can HMC be your favorite island if you have never been there?

I have been there - 5 times. On Carnival ships. I really could live there! [emoji267][emoji217][emoji321][emoji225][emoji925]

  14. Really, I joined AARP and I don't see any of the carnival gift cards. I have looked everywhere on their site and in their extended site. They are not available as far as I see. I will check at Lowe's as well since I am in OKC. Hopefully, there are some before our cruise in December. I love the idea of having cash in cards before we leave.

They sell out quickly when they are in stock, so keep looking. Did you see the Gift Cards online at all, because they offer several different cards.

  15. I haven't been to Labadee, and it has been 2 years since we were at CocoCay but we really enjoy going there. There is a great beach and we took our own snorkels and a cheap inflatable air mattress and chilled out! It is a tender port but the tenders run all day - it just takes longer to get everyone to the island in the morning. Lunch is a BBQ and is included. There are a couple of souvenir shops and of course bar service is available. We've cruised with other Cruiselines and the private islands are always a favorite port for us!

  16. We have used Fulton Garage several times with no issues and there is a free shuttle from the garage to the port but I personally wouldn't walk to the port from the garage with luggage. Some people drop off passengers and luggage at port then go park in garage and that person can walk to port or catch the free shuttle. You can reserve a spot online and then just print your confirmation to give to the attendant as you pull into the garage. The top level of the garage is a little cheaper, but it is not covered.
