Yes, these are the links I posted and studied. 😉

    🍹

Just watched, plus Southampton arrival.  So cool!  It looks like the “poles” are exactly as described!  Too bad have to wait until 2024!  It docked next to Silhouette though, which is our next cruise…. Thanks again!

It is definitely worth all of the work I put into it.  😉

I get deck plans out, read up on whatever I can find, study pictures and videos.   😅

When I saw a video last week of the Beyond leaving France, I paused it at different angles to see the cabin locations I picked to make sure all is well and what I thought it would be and it is.  😉

    🍹

Well, now I need to study that video!!!!!  Make sure there is unexpected lifeboat obstruction!  😄🍸 Was it on youtube?

I do too. I spend alot of time choosing the perfect cabin.  Once I find it on a class of ship then I stick to the same one/immediate area.   When I booked my first E-class on the Beyond, I had all of that research to do again. 😉

I would never do a move up bid because I wouldn't be able to choose my cabin plus I always travel with family and friends and I choose cabins all in line with one another.  😉

    🍹

Thank goodness there are others like me!  My husband thinks I am crazy.  We book almost same room every time -- I like aft SS on S class (floor 8, 9 or 11 preferred), and a midship CS on M class (I have a soft spot for M class -- our first cruise ever was on Summit) And I agree about move up bid!  I am so picky about the cabin and location. Almost booked an aft SS on the Beyond until I studied where all the Retreat areas were and realized I would be walking the length of the ship every time I forgot something in the cabin. And I wear very high heels to dinner so there is that!

I think it is crazy how they build new ships and keep putting the most expensive cabins under public areas.  We had a Grand Suite on a Royal Caribbean ship years ago, right under the Solarium chairs and tables (not loungers).  It was really nice with a bar area, etc, but one of the worst locations. It had constant chair scraping and carts going to the Solarium restaurant with food and ice at all hours of the morning.  Since then, I never book a cabin under or above  a public area (or at least under a pool or restaurant area).

Thanks for the advice!  I am bookmarking that 2018 thread with the photos of the balcony poles so I don't lose it again!

We have had Sky Suite 10123 on Edge and Apex. Adjacent cabin 10125 is an IV.

Never heard a peep either time.

Perfect!!!!  Thanks so much!  You really helped me!  That's basically the exact location of our Sky suite on the Beyond (only deck 9) in middle behind elevators, between another SS and next to an IV.  Glad to hear it was good.  I like the convenient location to forward elevators to get to the Retreat/Luminae.  And we have had a CS on S class behind elevator banks and its usually convenient and quiet.  Never been on Edge class, but looking forward to seeing a new design from the M and S classes.  Thanks so very much!!!!!!

@lawgirl and anyone else interested in this same topic: here's a thread I started a few months ago specifically asking about the  vertical poles on some of the balconies of the Edge class Sky Suites; there were very helpful replies.

Bless you!  I thought I was nuts! I remembered the drawing of the cabins with little red lines where poles are! It was a 2018 post and it’s noted in your thread!  Thank you much!

Now I picked a S1 with no pole, but it’s next to an Infinite Veranda…. I thought my cruise agent mentioned complaints about wind or door noise from the IV cabin if you are next to one…trying to figure out if that’s true!

I know.  It’s so silly i focus the first world problems of picking a cabin.  Thanks!

  6. This is probably answered, but my forum search isn’t pulling it up.  If you are in a sky suite next to an infinite veranda on Edge class (Beyond, which I realize hasn’t sailed) , does the IV cause noise in the sky suite?

I thought I read that the cabin next to IV heard some type of wind noise when the doors of the IV were open?  I like to sleep in and nap on vacay, and the  S1 we booked is next to “Prime Edge stateroom with Infinite Veranda”.

Any experience in a non-IV cabin and whether there is noise from IV next door is appreciated! Thank you!

  7. Thinking of sailing on Beyond and booking a Sky Suite S1.  I remember reading on the Boards that certain cabins have a pole in the middle of balcony that “blocks” view of ocean on Edge class.  There was a post about how to “count” cabins. I think it was every so many cabins had a clear view. For the life of me I cannot find that post!  Anyone know what I am referring to?

Also, we often book S1 corner aft  on S class , but reading on CC it seems  many prefer the S1 due to bed configuration on Edge class.  Other than larger balcony, are S1 and Sunset Sky Suite (Aft S1) on Edge class about the same size?  Is bathroom smaller on normal S1.  Just curious.  We haven’t been on Edge class yet.

    thank you!

Uber to South Beach, about $35+, and pay to store your bags at the Luggage Lounge. Then you are free to explore SB - boozy brunch, art deco architecture, people watching, beach, etc. Then either Uber/Lyft or ride the Airport Flyer bus to the airport (about $3 each! 🙂).

Or check resortpass.com for resorts and hotels offering day passes to their pool, beach and spa facilities. Tip them to store your bags.

    Good idea! Thank you!

When are you sailing? We were on Edge in December 2019, and we were on the Everglades Airboat tour with MIA drop-off. It worked very well, but be aware that they only guarantee your flight connection for domestic flights leaving from 3pm and later (and 4.30pm for international flights).

We are going on Apex in April 2021, and the post-cruise tours haven't been loaded yet (I guess Celebrity has lots of other stuff to take care of in these times....), but I'm almost certain the Everglades tour will be available for us at some point - and for you as well.

I say that, because if you go and "sneak peek" on a sailing in December 2020 or January 2021, most excursions in all ports have been loaded - far more excursions than what is available to book for us for our April sailing.

I can strongly recommend the Everglades tour, I think standard price is 59$pp, but there may be occasional sales in your Cruise Planner ranging from 5-30% discount, which we were able to use for our last sailing, ending out on ~44$pp for the airboat tour - you can barely even get an airport transfer/Uber from Port Everglades to MIA for 88$, and here you even get to try the airboats as well! Another bonus is the expedited debarkation when you have a post-cruise tour booked directly with Celebrity, and your lugage is kept safely in the bus during the tour.

Compare this Edge December 13 sailing: https://www.celebritycruises.com/excursion-brochure/celebrity/excursions.php?ship=EG&date=2020-12-13&currency=USD#December-20

(many different post-cruise tours and lots of port excursions - and currently varying discount on many excursions)

to this Edge April 4 sailing: https://www.celebritycruises.com/excursion-brochure/celebrity/excursions.php?ship=EG&date=2021-04-04&currency=USD#April-11

(no post-cruise tours, and not as many excursions in the other ports either, eg. none at all in Key West)

Thank you! Our cruise isn’t until Feb ... I just booked it and was curious about excursions,  and looked.  I saw this tour you mentioned on X website under excursions in general and didn’t know why it wasn’t an option our our cruise so thanks for explaining!

look up viator tours.  They have several from FLL and Miami.  See reviews of  Big Bus Miami has hop on hop off.  And the great culinary tour of Little Havana.

As to getting there,  I would suggest Uber or Lift to MIA, have the driver wait while you check baggage then head to meet up spot.  Taxi back to MIA after you are done.   Or just rent a car at FLL and drive around. No one way charges in FL.

Thank you.... I saw all those but I do not know what to do with all our luggage.   In the past, airlines have refused to check bags more than several hours before the flights.  Not sure if that changed.   A culinary tour would be awesome.  I book private tours for all our cruises, but wasn’t sure about luggage.  Will check airport rules. Thanks!

  11. Hey all.  We cruise into Fort Lauderdale (with luggage) and have a flight out of Miami mid-afternoon. So we have several hours to kill, preferably not sitting in the airport.   Celebrity is NOT offering any tours post-cruise, per my reservation cruise planning page. So I guess I need to find an independent company.

Does anyone know of an independent tour out of Fort Lauderdale to fill a few hours, keep our luggage safe and drop us off in Miami?  We would be open to about anything from a City tour, Everglades tour, boat tour of the nice houses/scenery,  etc.  We could even do the tour and get an Uber after to Miami (although that’s a hassle).... my main issue is luggage... and cruise luggage valet only takes it to FLL, not the Miami airport.

    thanks!

Well, at least 11205 and10214 were without the poles on deck 10.  Yes, VT(Marilyn)was such a special person, one we all miss dearly; however, her posts will live on, and continue to shine a bright light on Edge...

It sounds like Marilyn was very special.... it’s always sad when friends leave us.

Lastdance, 10214 is what we booked... good choice? Any noise issues?

    thank you all.

I have to ask. I see you are a law girl. Is pole dancing a part-time job? 😎

Sadly, no....my days of being a pole dancer have passed me by. But it doesn’t mean I can’t  pole dance on vacation! Ha!
Actually I don’t think I have ever been in a suite where the bed faced the balcony, so I was looking for an unobstructed view... but now that you mention uses for the pole, I may rethink things! 😂

  14. I cannot find reviews for S2s midship, deck 10, ...I can’t find reviews or search results for any cabin in that grouping..., but I am looking at 10201, 10203, 10205 (port) or 10210, 10212, 10214 (starboard).  I know for every block of 4 cabins, there are two cabins with no balcony pole, and two with. So I THINK 10201, 10203 have poles, 10205 does not.  And 10210, 10212 have poles, 10214 not. But I can’t quite figure out if I am right? Does anyone know?

if anyone cruised in one of these, comments?  Thank you!

  15. We always sail in suites, usually a CS, and since Luminae began, dining is very, very good.  Service is exceptional.  I have a dairy intolerance, and I will say the menu leans French/International, so I do end up ordering off the MDR menu at times.

I think Luminae on M class is better than S.  Just better service.  They always bring me champagne and great wine and cater to my dairy allergy much better.  S class is still good though, just less attention maybe because of the size? We seem to get Kurt as our waiter on cruises! He is great!

Do not miss lunch! The hamburger is good...but chicken and waffles are yummy! So much nicer than the buffet!

As to specialties, we actually really like Tuscan.  We are in the minority in that we prefer it to Murano... mainly because the menu has more that i can eat. The pork belly is yummy!  I would definitely try that.  Le Petit Chef is more fun with a bigger group.  Use your OBC to try one! Have fun!

  16. We have a cruise scheduled for Nov...it’s 2 weeks long.  We are in our 50s and healthy, but I think we are going to cancel...mostly to wait and see how cruising is impacted.

We were on a ship after the CDC came on for a deep clean following a norovirus outbreak. We left port 6 or 8 hours late because we couldn’t board until a deep clean was done.   It was fine, but lots of inconveniences... no menus, daily planners, etc. some activities cancelled....No salt/pepper, etc.  long lines at buffet because no self-serve.  Nothing in the cabin (no hair dryers, mirrors, robes, etc).... did it ruin our trip? No. But would it be better not to wait 20 minutes for a glass of tea that is usually self serve? Yes. Add to that temperature checks to get on and off the ship and even a slight chance of being quarantined if a few folks get sick, and I think I would rather wait.

We did already postpone a May 2021 Galápagos/Machu Picchu trip.  It is just too expensive of a trip to chance it not being as planned... or even to have to wear a mask on all those long flights to Ecuador, then Islands, then back to Ecuador, then Peru, then home. Hopefully all will be normal by next May, but with the extremely high cost, and hotels, tours, locations, experiences being in flux, we couldn’t risk a trip of a lifetime....

whatever you decide, be safe and enjoy!

  17. I have searched everywhere and can’t get much info on this cabin. It’s the only  Junior Suite on the whole cruise ship larger than Oceanview, smaller than an Xpedition Suite.

has anyone stayed in 509? Is the bed a double/full (not queen)? Is there a pullout bed also in a loveseat?

Does it smell of smoke? Someone said the captains room is next door and smells of smoke.  Does the air work?

I am asking because we stayed in an Xpedition Suite, , which is 50 sq feet bigger at 230 sq feet.  But this XJ is 180 sq feet and is about $1800 less, and it has the same size balcony. I would love feedback on 509!

    thanks!

Your photos are amazing; thanks so much for sharing...our date is May 28 for 10 nights.  We also wanted to do MP, but thought we had a better chance with just Galapagos, as we have friends and relatives in Florida to see.  Our big b2b cruises and two month vacay is Sept/Oct of 2021 in Europe...I certainly understand your thought process, and believe you are right! Stay safe...Suzy

Have a great trip...we took 15000 photos, no joke! There are some way better than what I even posted. I just grabbed a few I saw first for you.  You will love it!  We have traveled extensively all over Europe, Africa, the Baltic’s, Russia, Alaska, Hawaii, Caribbean, South America... Galapagos was #1 on my bucket list and I was worried it would not reach expectations. It EXCEEDED them! It is the best trip we have ever taken IMO!  my husband thought Africa was slightly better, but there is nothing like seeing animals with no fear in the Galapagos! Enjoy!

  19. Fernandina and Espanola are on different itineraries....so because there are great stops on both, it’s hard to decide.  I have looked at the very long thread, but the itineraries are called Northern and Southern only recently. So that thread doesn’t discuss Southern and Northern much....

Lastdance: here are some photos from May... including the mating...FB74A52F-D084-4F87-AC9D-4CA9CAEA3A98.jpeg.349a84be08e26c8e41ea0679e14b1372.jpegD8331D52-DFF5-46AD-AF11-F2BCDE2BB5DD.jpeg.1fec43f9a5510ab86d79c7c9bf2ddf9c.jpeg451FA809-4E01-443D-B09D-A855DC792F47.jpeg.c6d33b3fe23e45449d6606a8695c0bd0.jpeg475B705E-6B05-4424-B78A-433C98AB9DB2.jpeg.12ce79525999426d39fe7254a89e48a0.jpeg44743018-7528-4DD4-95EE-89299CFEFFEA.jpeg.c78d28993ae526b969962f73e4ed1bee.jpeg5993E0BA-0258-466C-AE64-1B35ADCD8959.jpeg.ec988380ef77534a141c81f4e278b471.jpeg

I am looking forward to hearing replys...we are May, 2021 and have chosen "southern loop."  I remember reading a review with lots of information last year.  I remember reading from quite a few that whatever you choose is great, but so is time of year...so want to see the Blue Footed Boobies!

So, I was supposed to be on your cruise I think!  But I am postponing it out a year due to the virus.  Not because of the Galapagos part, but because we have 8 nights in Peru after on a private tour seeing MP and other areas. I was worried that without a vaccine readily given out, some of my plans may be changed or smaller activities cancelled if people go out of business etc.  most say travel won’t be “normal” until late 2021 and I didn’t want to take a chance on wearing masks on long flights or having a changed itinerary in Peru....

anyhow, we went in May before a saw TONS of blue footed boobies, especially on Espanola.  Saw the mating dance.  Got a great photo of the boobies on rocks with the blowhole behind them. I will see if I can find it.  Are you going May 7? That’s when we were going until I changed to 2022....
