  1. I never understood why people pay for a cruise then don't want to spend any money to have a good time. I have seen these kind of posts on all sorts of itinerary. Even European Med cruises. Pay to fly to Europe, an 11 day cruise, with wonderful ports and stay on the ship because they don't want to spend any money!

Cozumel it is not an expensive port. You don't have to spend much to have a good time.

I didn't say I didn't want to spend any money on my cruise. I said I didn't want to spend any money in this port. I'm spending a lot of money between ship and port. But I'm tapped out for cozumel. Sooo, that's why I'm looking for something as close to free as I can get. If I can spend $20 or less dipping my toes in the ocean and sitting in the sand for an hour or two or taking a cab to a great local restaurant for a good meal then I would rather do that then stay on the ship. If I end up staying on the ship it will still be a great day!

  2. Yes, their website gives instructions on how to plan a visit. They welcome cruise ship visitors. With the price of taxi fare I may end up visiting the orphanage in Cozumel. It's supposed to be a couple of bucks for the taxi ride there. I'm on a strict budget, so I don't see spending $30 on a taxi to take donations. If I were already doing an excursion it would be much easier.

  3. From what I'm reading it seems like the taxi prices are high.

I'm looking to go from Mahogany Bay to Sandy Bay Lighthouse Ministries. "We are located in the village of Sandy Bay – between Coxen Hole and West End."

Anyone have an idea of how much this should cost?

  4. I'm sorry, I thought Carnival used the same one all the time. I'll look it up. But I sail on the Dream Sept 18, 2016.

I don't want to eat or shop at the touristy area at the port. I'm thinking...walk to a beach to dip my toes in the water, take a cab outside of the port area for lunch at a locally owned joint, or stay on the ship.

  5. I'm not looking to spend money in this port and wondering if I should just stay on the ship.

Are there any beaches within walking distance of Carnival port?

Do you know of any good local restaurants that are a short taxi ride away?

  6. We would like to give our kids some freedom to roam the ship but would like to be able to keep tabs. We are travelling with another family who also has two kids. The girls will hang with each other (they have phones) and the boys will hang with each other (no phones). How can we keep track of them? Even if they all had phones, they are of no use while they are wearing bathing suits (most of the day).

Any ideas on keeping tabs? I thought of looking for some cheap devices that are wearable like a watch that can be tracked with an app I can download on my phone. I don't think I would need to buy a data package since a device like that would communicate directly with the phone.... I think??

I'm interested in this device you've found. Every one I have seen requires you to log into a GPS account, which means you would need an internet package. And i have never seen one that would pinpoint a location within a place like a cruiseship. With the exception of the toddler clip on that transmit up to 150 feet. But that one doesn't show you a location, it just beeps and sounds an alarm.

  7. If you book Past Guest, you are eligible for price drops until day before final payment date. With Early Saver, price drops before final payment reduce that final payment. After final payment and up to two days before the cruise, if the price goes down you'll receive obc.

Really?! I didn't know you were eligible for price drops with past guest. So it's up to final payment? That's good to know.

  8. I only looked at Spa and Panorama decks, as that was what you preferred. I'm sure there are many on other decks. EM

I assumed that is what you meant. But they showed roughly 8 inside rooms to choose from on the Panarama deck for 3 ppl. You said there were only 4. I know which 4 you are talking about. What I found odd is that those were not my option. The site gave me about 8 rooms further up toward the front.

  9. Thank you NCTRIBEFAN for the advice. I will call and see if other rooms are available.

Essiesmom...it's giving me more than 4 options for 3 ppl in interior rooms. Plus, the site shows the same room, 1009 I believe, as the only balcony room available for all 10 dates I looked up. I find it hard to believe all the balcony rooms are booked except that one on so many iteneraries. But, you never know.

Thanks for all of the input. I'm curious to see what they say when I call.

  10. We want to plan a 5 day cruise on the Triumph out of New Orleans in the spring of 2017. We like the Panarama and Spa decks. We also like to stay near camp carnival /ocean so this works out for us on the triumph.

When trying to book through CCL website it is showing about 8 rooms, all under the gym, for an interior on deck 10. Hmm. We would like to stay a bit farther back. So I look for a different sail date. The same 8 rooms show up. So I think those 8 rooms must be the only rooms that accommodate 3. I try booking for 2 just to see. The same 8 rooms show up plus 1.

Out of curiosity I look at balcony rooms. For 3 ppl I get one choice. For 2 ppl I get 2 choices. Then I start looking at other dates. From spring 2016 to spring 2017 the same limited selection of rooms show up each time.

I know they all aren't booked already. So how do I get one of the other rooms? Are they reserved for TA's? I can't imagine Carnival only saving 2 balcony staterooms for themselves to book on deck 10 and giving all the others up to TA's.

  11. I swear by Harbor Freight Rain Ponchos, big and roomy, tough as can be and just 2.49 before any of the many % off coupons you can find online. We have done rainy runs down the Belize River after the Ruins, Mini Boats and other excursions where other guests have turned back or called it a day. Honestly a rainy excursion is one of your best chances to a have a smaller group and some amazing rainbows that make lifetime memories.

    I like your style!

We only experienced rain for an hour at the end of the port day in Grand Cayman. Our next cruise will be with our almost 3 year old. So, if it rains we will most likely be napping, reading, playing board games, or hitting the t-pool and saunas.

When he is older we will be like JGLENNCRUISER and not letting the rain stop us!

  12. someone mentioned soda, is soda included and does it count against your 15 drink limit?

Fountain sodas from the bars do not count towards your 15. The cans cost somewhere around $2. Another poster said they got cans of soda and unopened beers at the end of the day to get up to their 15.

  13. She's not trying to get out of the single supplement. She's trying to maximize losses and wants to know which will be the cheaper way to go. Letting her friend be a no show or cancelling the friend and paying the suppliment.

I'm not sure OP. If you can go in an remove vacation protection then I would do that. I wouldn't think you would get it back by cancelling. I do know the single supplement is the same as booking for 2, so unless the fare has dropped I would leave it alone. You will get your friends tax back on your sail and sign card after the ship realizes she's a no show.
