  1. We had "Dr. Natural" in the port area (two weeks ago) put aloe on my sunburned arms only to nag us for $10 afterward. I gave him $2 and said that's all he was getting, but he followed us around all the way to the cruise gate insisting on money. geez. Can and does happen in most of the caribbean ports.

Had the same bs. I told the guy I would kick his ass and he better leave. He left cursing. I actually called him back and he apologized and left without further incident.

  2. I’ve always asked around at the ports and will negotiate a price that I’m comfortable with. Sometimes even recruited other couples my age and got them in on the tour as well.

Only once was a little scared but it turned to be one of the best tours I took in the Dominican republic.

Tour driver stayed with us the entire time other than the hike to waterfalls and it was cheap.

  3. We had such a fight to get a cab from the port because they all wanted to make more going further. I even found more people going to the same place. It got to the point that I went to the dispatcher and kept telling them no one wanted to take us. Even argued with a few that wouldn’t take us and told them the longer they argue with us the less money they are gonna make if they hustle back. We finally found a nice van driver who said he would take us and he confirmed to me that most want to make more money. I tipped him of course and had no trouble getting one back. Just sharing our experience in February of 2015

  4. Let me clarify. It's 25% credit off the price we paid for this cruise. I assume that doesn't include port or taxes .

So if you got a deal to begin with you get even a better one ? I get 10 percent off as a casino total Rewards player so that would be a total of 35 percent off my next one then. But I’m assuming it would have to be the same accommodations then.

  5. Hi - First time cruiser and we are fast approaching our cruise! I need some help on gratuities, etc. Not how much but who I need to tip.

So here's what I'm looking at:

    - Cruise fare for family - paid

    - Pre-Paid Service Charges - paid

We are in the Haven so I know I will have something for the room steward, butler and concierge.

Do I need to tip bartenders after I order each drink? Or at lunches? Dinners?

    Is there anyone else?

I want to make sure I have enough cash for everyone and don't want to feel lost on the cruise!

I totally don’t really think the concierge should be really tipped unless your using him or her a lot. They do the same thing you can do ahead of time by booking reservations. I pre book all my specialty restaurants online. I’d rather tip my hard worker bartenders. Especially if your using the same one a lot. Maybe if you find a good waiter I usually request him or her when I go the next time. They totally appreciate that and I throw them an extra tip. Sometimes the dining host says there is a wait if ur specifically asking for a person. I’ll wait too.

  6. Not sure what you mean about beers too. You should have the beverage package unless you did the upgrade advantage thing so just go to a bar and get a beer or two and put extra in fridge.

You can also buy a bucket of beers - 6 for 5 price.

Meaning can you request beer instead of alcohol bottles.

  7. The easiest way to get picked up after the cruise is to cross the West Side Highway at the crossing directly in front of the terminal and wait for the shuttle anywhere on the east side of the street. That’s exactly what my family did when we cruised on the Norwegian Breakaway in July 2014.

  8. To all parents who want to bring their little ones on board:

I never took my boys on a vacation until till they were over temper tantrums and would not not impede on others who wanted a relaxation vacation. They were 7 and 9. They were fully aware of Disney AND DID NOT waste money cuz now they will remember that experience. Off to Disney Cruise we go a year later. Was awesome.

Not sure why people would bring newborn/under 3 years old on cruise. I was respectful not bringing my children until I thought they were of "age" and free of tantrums. No one on ship wants to hear a crying baby.

Y'all can say that "the crew" LOVES babies! Welcome! I previously posted my concerns about vaccinations.

If you are a responsible parent and remove your child from Dining Room (or any place else) when child is melting down, I commend you.

Too all parents who bring children:

    I am on vacation.

I do not want to hear your kid having meltdown.

    Be responsible

Because parents build memories with their kids. Photos etc. So they should stay home till their 7 or 9. Yeah ok.
