  1. And then transfer the booking to your t/a to get their perks! Double dipping, oh ya!!

I have contaced a few TA regarding doing this and had horrible responses.

We are looking at two inside rooms (i know lower category) and the emails i have had back so far have been like I'm asking them to do me a favour by even looking at my booking.

The best offer I've had is $80 OBC and when i asked about them keeping on top of price drops i was told forget it they did not do this.

Between my sister in laws and us on our last four cruise we have saved over $5000 by ringing the cruise lines directly when prices dropped - either in price reductions, upgrades, OBC or drink packages.

So I have to say i am not sold on TA's

  2. I know another Drink Package question

We are sailing on the Explorer of the Seas and have purchase the Premium drink package.

I have only brought the soft drink package on the Brilliance before and was wanting to know the following

    1. do you get the soft drink cup with the Premium package like the you do with the soft drink package?

    2. Is there a Freestyle machine on the Explorer?

  3. I'm glad this info helped. We were really nervous before our cruise and went so far as to try to change cabins. We then just decided to take our chances, too. We didn't go to the Latitudes events, but heard from others that the captain spoke about the bacteria problems after the refurb and the reason for the change from Skagway to Sitka. I was personally very happy with the change.

You will love the aft mini! Have fun!

We are going north bound on the 5th of September. I have booked and paid for the train in Skagway. I will not be happy with a chance in schedule, is this what is happening every sailing?

  4. Aha! It seems some form of pattern may be emerging! Thanks for the confirmation that they seem to be consistent (so what's the betting that for some reason they change it on 22nd Aug?)

I was also on a northbound cruise in late May out of Vancouver, and I believe the muster drill was before the 4 pm departure.

Thanks everyone. Your info has been great. Much easier to plan around a 3:30 muster drill rather than a 8:30 one.

  5. Unless someone can post recent dailies for Vancouver northward the best course of action is to check with NCL direct.

Our sailing is at 4pm from Vancouver, which is the same as the OP's time I gather.

Ships typically sail from Vancouver around 4:00 p.m., with muster occurring prior to sail away. In Seward, because they have to wait on the transfers from Anchorage they sail later, at around 8:00 p.m. with muster occurring slightly before sail away.

Thanks for that. Will leave booking the way it is. :D

  6. Hi Everyone,

This is the first time we have sailed NCL and are doing a 7 day northbound Alaska cruise on the 5th September.

As one of our extra's we chose the 4 specialty dinning package as we always eat at the speciality dinning restaurant on each of our cruises. A tradition is to start the cruise with the first night at the steak restaurant in this case it will be Cagney's.

I have booked our dinning restaurants online for 7:30pm seatings but having looked at a recent review of the same sailing it shows that the muster drill is a 8:30pm!!

Is this the normal time on NCL? Every other line we have sailed (six others) the muster drill is usually in the afternoon about 3 to 4pm.

Do i need to change our table booking? We like to take our time over these dinners and there is no way we want to rush the experience to make a 8:30pm muster drill.

  7. Like Love my butler said, it was probably because of the Cruise Critic Meet & Greet, and setting it up. I can't think of any other reason.

    H

We had no indication prior to getting to Seward. It was a nice surprise.

our ship only had 1700 passengers (full is 1950ish), and it was a lot of first-time cruisers. I can only speculate.

Well that explains why someone else wanted to organise it on our roll call when I offered. ;)

  8. Same as us! we sail a few weeks earlier, but will be in 0324. I noticed that a recent review by 3Fluffies (I think) does mention occasional whiffs, even after the brief refit.

We are 0326 so when i say right behind i mean it

my email is sglie1 @ yahoo .com

if you could email me with any info that would be great, I'm also worried about the noise, but the price was just to good so we booked anyway and are hoping for the best.

  9. Hi everyone,

We are going on the Explorer of the Seas this October from Seattle.

There are four of us staying on 3rd Avenue in a appartment and are looking to take a Uber to the Port to board the ship. We use Uber in Melbourne (Aust) and one of the things I love about it is not needing cash.

So my question is, is it explected to tip a Uber Diver? We do not tip as a rule in Australia and I know you do in the USA. So being a cashless transaction that is auctomtic, do you tip? And if so how?

    Thanks

    Sylva.

  10. I agree the drink card would be good, but the last 24 day cruise is only showed up in the last 4 days.

My partner would drink 4 beers easily a day around the pool and a few more that night at the piano bar and over dinner, so that way the drink package is not hard to justify but i just hate the idea of paying more for the package than we have the whole cruise especially when its converted into Aussie dollars, our exchange rate is really bad at the moment.

So on the hunt for the cheapest option.

  11. my partner and i are sailing on the explorer for 24 days this october and as this is only our 2nd RCI cruise we are only gold members, does this mean that every time we buy a beer or wine we get a second one free?

if so this will make a big difference on our onboard spending. i was trying to justify the drinks package but if this is the case will most likely pay as we go.

bugger, just read the uploaded photo and it is a single offer only :( looks like the drink package may still be an option

  12. Below is a list of the C&A benefits.....Some things may have changed since this was put together, and I have tried to update it as best as I could. It will give you an idea of what you will have:

    Gold Member Onboard Offers:

    1. (1101) Buy any Wine, Beer or Soda by the glass and get a second (of equal or lesser value) FREE
