We have a 7 night Mexican Riviera booked for March 2nd - 9th. I want to book the Steakhouse on one night, but I don't want to book it on a cruise elegant night. Don't want to miss out on the Prime Rib.
What nights are the cruise elegant? Day 2 and 6?

We just booked the Carnival shuttle from HOU Hobby to Pier. We fly in the day before and are staying at the Hilton Garden Inn and will just go back to the airport (less than a mile) to catch the Carnival Shuttle. It was $73 for 2 of us each way. So about $37/pp. We were able to choose a 10am, 11am or 12 noon pick up from HOU to the pier (we chose 10am). And then we were able to choose from 8am, 9am, 10am, 11am or 12 noon from the pier to HOU Hobby (we chose 9am) as we have a 12:45pm flight. This is our 7th cruise but first time out of Galveston.

We can tell you that DW and I have traveled all over the world (6 continents) and choose to make Puerto Vallarta our winter home. Normally (and of course there are exceptions) the weather in Cabo and PV is near perfect from mid-December through March. We actually had 2 days of heavy rain this winter (over 2 months) which made it one of our worst winters. In PV the norm would be high temps of 78-84 with sunny or partly cloudy skies.
To give you an idea how the locals view the weather, this Valentines Day I stopped in a popular PV Chocolate shop to pick up some candy for DW. The store manager was talking to another customer about how it had actually rained in late December. The point was that this was 6 weeks later, and those few days of rain were still news.
Hank
Thank you, Hank. That was very helpful. We are from the rainy northwest, so anything above 70 degrees and no rain is a pleasant, beautiful day. :)

Can someone tell me what the weather typically is like in Cabo or Puerto Vallerta in December or January.
I did a google search that says highs about 80, lows around 60 but I'm wondering how accurate that really is.
If anyone has sailed the Mexican Riviera in late Nov/Dec/Jan - what has been your experience?
-
I'm hunting for recent Cruise Compasses from Liberty of the Seas, specifically the 5-day Western that stops in Labadee and Falmouth, Jamaica.
Anyone have one to share, or a link to one that's already been posted?
Thanks for any help.
That would be awesome - we sail 4/7 as well.
-
just did it again 2 weeks ago no problem, requested 2 extra pillows.
We are both pillow hogs - seriously - I need like 6 for myself. I barricade myself in between them.
Saying the provide 4 to begin with - is asking for an additional 6 pillows going to be a problem? I hope not - because I plan on asking for it next week. :):D

I am not talking the applicator but the actual cotton part.
Cruise Virgin till 3/17!!! Got tickets to Paradise!!!
I would think it's fine to flush a tampon. They are smaller than a large turd. I've been flushing tampons for over 25 years without one problem. We are on a sewer system and not a septic tank - but I've ALWAYS flushed tampons in the toilet in my own home, friends homes, public toilets, work toilets, etc.
-
No they are digital.
Awesome! Thanks!:)

Can someone tell me if I need to bring an old used gift card to open up the cabin safes on Liberty or if they use a numbered key pad?
Thanks (might be one less thing I need to worry about packing).

If you like cookies, I look forward to the coconut cookies the most! They usually serve them twice in the week!
Oh my....I love COCONUT. I'll definitely be looking for these!
-
Another vote for Key Lime Pie - the only dessert I eat the whole cruise!!
I love key lime pie....yum!!!:)

RCCL doesn't get very good reviews on their desserts and having only cruised with Carnival, who has the most awesome Chocolate Lava melting cake, I'm getting a bit bummed about what our choices will be. I ate that Chocolate melting cake every night of our 7 night cruise - delicous! Their creme' brulee was pretty awesome too.
So....for our upcoming Liberty of the Seas cruise - what is the one dessert I should definitely order & look forward to?

I read yesterday on a different RCI dining thread on CC these comments from two different cruisers:
'Email rcldining@rccl.com about three weeks before your cruise to request a table for two. When I've done that in the past I got an email back from the restaurant coordinator on the ship confirming my table size and number about a week before the cruise.
I have done this in the past and it works like a charm.
When you send in the email include --
Your name and companions name; the ship your are sailing on and the dates along with your confirmation/reservation number.
Since we are C&A members, I also put our C&A member numbers in the email as well -- it never hurts.
We have always been given the dining room accommodations we want, like this.'
Susan
Thank you - will put this in my calendar to do in March. :)

Forgive my ignorance, but what is a two top? Is that just a table for two?

I'm fairly new to cruising - this will be our 2nd one.
We signed up for My Time Dining (last cruise we did early dining as there were 22 of us & we all wanted to eat dinner together - or in the same vicinity).
This cruise is just hubby & myself - we like to dine alone. Don't want to be seated at a table with strangers.
Is My Time Dining the best option for this in the MDR? Or am I better off switching to an early or late dining option? Our preference would be a table for 2 in the same spot with the same wait staff each night. Any advice?

Go to RCCL site : click on before you broad
click on travel documentation
under need help ? click on search this site
Ask a question: put in( driver license)
click on CLICK HERE
Hope this helps ;)
YES!!! Thank you. :) Finally something on the RCI site that shows the EDL as an option.
-
After looking around the web a bit, I think you are correct, the EDL can be used for cruising. Could be that Royal's website is not up to date, because people reported being able to use it on the Carnival board.
I used it on Carnival with no problems 2 years ago - and it was listed on Carnival as an acceptable document for closed loops. But it's not on RCI's website. With only 4 U.S. States issuing them, I can maybe see why they don't put much (or any) emphasis on this being an option for land & sea crossings.
-
It's not Royal or the port that decide what travel docs are necessary, it's the US Government:
I think with the WHTI - an EDL should be enough since it's a closed loop. But I'll call RCI to make sure. Thanks.
-
You would need the DL and certified birth certificate for a closed loop cruise.
But I don't understand why I would need that when I've gone through proving my citizenship when I obtained the Enhanced Driver's License. Isn't that the point of the EDL? So I don't have to carry around a birth certificate anymore?
I had to show my birth certificate & marriage certificate & go through a whole application process to get the EDL. I think RCI and Port Everglade should accept it - but not sure why it's not mentioned on their website. :(

This is the link that RCI provides for WHTI documents. EDL is not on there. Ugh.
-
I'm from Washington State and have an Enhanced Driver's License with the RDIF chip in it.
We got these prior to our last cruise in 2012 on Carnival to the Caribbean out of Tampa (closed loop back to Tampa). No problems using the EDL.
However, we are booked on RCI this time out of Ft. Lauderdale for another Caribbean cruise (closed loop) & I got their travel docs info and nowhere can I find that EDL are acceptable. It says it accepts the WHTI documents and to "Click here" to see what those are - and when I click on that link - the EDL is not included.
If it's a closed loop from Florida - all cruiselines/ports should accept the EDL, correct?

It's lame that Liberty doesn't have the Freestyle yet. You'd think if Freedom has it, that Liberty would too. Doesn't make a whole lot of sense why they haven't put them on the Liberty yet.
I love the freestyle (Burger King has them, so does Firehouse Subs) machines and being able to get my Diet Cherry Dr. Pepper.
I guess I'll have to ask the bartender to make a cherry diet coke for me every 15 minutes. :)
;)

Yes...under $20.00..no problem there will be plenty of taxi's lined up for your 10-15min ride to FLL from PE..this is one of the quickest and easiest port-airport locations...Enjoy yada yada :)
Great - thanks for your speedy reply. :):)
-
We are planning on just taking a cab from cruise port to the airport after the cruise. Ship docks at 7:30am. Once we get through customs, yada yada, will we be able to just find a taxi or will I need to a google a taxi company & call them to come pick us up? It will just be two of us.
And I'm thinking cab from port to FLL is probably around $20, yes?
Bottomless Bubbles Package
in Carnival Cruise Lines
Posted
This will be my first cruise after they switched from Coke to Pepsi. I'll still do the bottomless bubbles because I will be ok with Pepsi Zero and Diet Mt. Dew, but my husband is a Coke purist and will not be doing the bubbles this cruise. 😞
