I tried to add some photos and got some kind of weird message ? Will try to just post links you can open.

I think it depends on the time of year, weather.winds, etc, but Pasion was prettier in comparison for us.

The $65 PP deal looks the best to me on this site.??

I can assure you that you will enjoy PI.. I really think in your case you should do the tour through the ship, stop worrying, and enjoy, especially if the price is working out close to the same. And, Lord forbid, if there was a problem, the ship will wait for you...

We never experienced any of the negative factors that you mentioned. The food area was very clean the times we were there. Once the water was a little stirred up due to wind.

We have been twice, once with Carnival and once with Royal,by power catamaran, not really a catamaran, but a nice 40 min ride each way from the pier.We enjoyed it both times , and the food and drinks were good. We do not really go in the water. My signature photo shows us on the power cat..It is more difficult to book an independent tour there now, but if you do you will take a bus ride to the east end, and then a short boat ride.

We are going March 16 th. We haven't decided yet what to do in Belize this time. We may just take the tender to Belize and hang out there a bit.
I'm glad to see this thread... We are going on carnival magic match 30th 2014 and this is the excursion we're planning for Belize. Personally, I'd rather pay the larger fee than go on our own... The pics you shared are gorgeous, thanks!! Which week are you going in March? -
Here is a link with some info.

I may call Carnival and ask about it, although $104 per adult is a little steep. If you are brave you can take the water taxi to Caulkner for $20 PP roundtrip, and hire a snorkel boat there, as Shark Ray Alley is 4 minutes from the island. A lot of people go on their own like this. We may try it next time. I talked to locals who ride the water taxi all the time with no problem. I guess a lot of cruisers worry though about missing their ship.

Just a follow up. We paid $69 PP in April through Coral Breeze. Do not use them though. They used to be great, but no more.

Thanks for posting this as the independent tours there have gone to the dogs. I wonder why it is not available on our Magic cruise?
-
Pardon me if I am mistaken , but we have been to Belize and done Shark Ray Alley with an independent, and we are booked on the Magic next March for Belize , and they do not offer Shark Ray Alley, only Snorkeling the Barrier reef which does not go to Caye Caulkner where Shark Ray Alley is..What ship are you on , and when ? Please show me a link to a Carnival cruise that offers it, as I would be interested since we had a bad experience with Coral Breeze. Royal Caribbean does not offer it either ?

I wish we could be there late once. I would do a catamaran sunset cruise.
I forgot they were an hour behind ship time. Thanks, that does make a little bit of difference .I see you on the Cozumel boards a lot what do you suggest to do at night .In all our cruises we have never been their at night -
You are welcome. It is indeed nice that some of the posters here do all that research, as it helps us all a lot.
I had to chuckle when I read that...:Dmitsugirly does more research in these boards than almost anyone. (even me) ;)
Centex...
Thanks for the link....
I've spent almost 2 months now researching and had yet to see that link.

There can be a huge difference. For example, an all inclusive in Progreso is $35 PP directly with them , and $79 PP through Carnival. We have come to where we do all our excursions independently, especially where there is no worry regarding getting back to the ship on time. So when you need help, just come here, and you will get some valuable info.

Here is a link. I would also consider Mr Sanchos all inclusive for $45 PP on line.

I don't recall the beach portion being separated.

just add beach tours to the blipped out part

Having trouble with putting the correct link. Just google Mr Sanchos, and click the link beach tours dot com/COLOR]
So is the AI side totally cut off from the pay as you go side?Do they restrict only the total number of people on the AI side or both sides?
We are doing the AI side in September. We have I think, 3 ships in port that day. Our group is taking kids ranging from 6 thru 14. Just curious how difficult it will be it keep an eye on the kids.
I mean, I don't plan on just letting them run wild while I fall asleep on the beach. But is it going to be like trying to keep an eye on you child in a restaurant with 100 people, or trying to keep an eye on your kid at a county fair with 500 people?
-
We were there in April and did the AI with a bunch of ships in port, and it was fine.

Sounds like it's going to be good ..Thanks guys for the replies.:).

Has anyone tried the food at the Blue Iguana on the ships that have it. DW loves fish tacos. Any opinions ?

One thing I wonder is if you get off your ship, find an independent tour to Pasion, how would they know you are on a Carnival ship ? What if you said I just flew in. I really do not think they would question you, and would be happy to take your money. When we are in Cozumel in Oct I am going to check this out and ask a tour operator straight out.
Passion Island-need advice *sigh*

Not sure if I have any more..Bout it . Wife and daughter on the ride back. I think mentioned before, if you don't mind the sun, ride on the top deck, and if you choose below, watch out for the left side as you can catch some spray..
