  1. I love chatting "occasionally" with fellow future cruises. I always join the roll call and sign up for the M&M. Sometimes the roll calls do turn personal among a few people that have cruised together before...I have nothing to add to those conversations. Many times I post a question or comments...and get no response. That's ok..perhaps it doesn't warrant a response. However, after that I do not appreciate a cheerleader on the roll call calling me out (and others) for not posting enough. Just saying...

  2. I don't think you will regret it...but you might decide you don't prefer it. We always booked a balcony cabin until last year and couldn't pass up a last minute deal with an inside cabin. Sure, I missed walking out on the balcony in the middle of the night and watching the lights of a far away ship. Of course, I could do the same by going out on deck...just not in my robe, lol. We received the same great service from our room attendant, had plenty of room for the 2 of us & all my shoes :) and slept great in the complete darkness. Our next cruise is also booked in an inside, because we realized we enjoy the cruise just as much and this way we can cruise even more often!

  3. I apologize in advance if this question has been answered before. I tried to search, to no avail. Is the 3 drink tickets still in place for diamond members? I could find no mention of it in the C&A section. If so, is this benefit available on shorter cruises or are there diamond lounges on this cruises?

  4. Perhaps the people in line had planes to catch and were frustrated their bills weren't accurate. You said it was the last day so maybe this accounts for the lines. Everyone who disembarks has to pay their bill, they don't treat you like a criminal, they tell you to go back and settle your bill. Are you suggesting they let you off the ship when you admit somethings were unpaid?

I'm glad everything health wise turned out ok.

I can understand people being frustrated if they are hurrying to catch a plane, but that does not excuse being hurtful to others. Yes, it is hurtful, even though they are strangers. Normally, I can shake my head at the insensitivity of some people, but not when my emotions were running as high as they were that day. No other passengers were trying to catch a plane, they just wanted to get to the island.

Don't you find it curious that in this short thread they are 3 instances of people in emergency situations being turned away at the exit & sent back to customer relations? In our case, there wasn't a problem at all with our account, nor the other couple trying to leave. Definitely something RCCL should look into.

Thank you for the kind words from many of you.

  5. Sadly, my daughter & I had to leave mid-cruise this past week, due to a death in the family. Customer Relations was great with a couple of exceptions There was one other couple exiting for the same reason & we shared this experience together. We both had been told we were set to go, just had to clear customs, which we did along with the entertainers from the first few days. They were sent to the crew exit to disembark, we were sent to join the hundreds of people anxious to leave the ship after a change of schedule. We waited our turn in line only to be turned away at the exit & sent back to Customer Relations. We were told our account wasn't settled, when we had earlier been told it was. This was not only my daughter & I, but the other couple trying to disembark. If any of you were on the 9/21 sailing of the Freedom, you might have seen a crazy women in tears...that would be me. When we returned to Customer Relations, they checked our credit cards & "oh, everything is fine". This time we had an escort to follow, while hauling all our luggage to the exit. Then we were faced with a backlog of people at the San Juan terminal. Time was running out, so we pushed our way through apologizing that we had to hurry and catch our flight. To make a long story short, we did make our flight by running through the airport with literally no time to spare.

My suggestion to RCCL, please have Customer Relations be certain everything is in order for us to depart. Check & double check before you tell us everything is fine.

Please allow passengers leaving for an emergency to use the crew exit in a case like this when so many people are trying to leave the ship.

Please have a crew member take care of our luggage for us. Hauling it throughout the ship (not once, but twice) was very hard, especially since time was so short.

My suggestions for fellow passengers...if you see someone with their luggage & obviously in a hurry, please don't make jokes about their leaving mid-cruise. Don't ask them why they are leaving. One look at our faces & you can tell it isn't a good thing. Please allow us to pass through the crowd without having to beg. Once when we said, "excuse us please, we have a plane to catch", a fellow passenger replied "it's not my problem". It won't delay you for very long and could make a huge difference in someone making their only flight home that day.

I did sent an email to RCCL with my suggestions. I did not ask for anything, no reason that I should I just want other passengers that find themselves in this position to be able to disembark as stress free as possible. I also commended several RCCL employees for their help & kindness, and I sincerely hope they are recognized for their help.

    Thank you for listening.

  6. RCCL has been sending out lots of strange emails lately. Many people in our group got emails telling them to pick their times for My Time Dining; but we're all listed and confirmed for first seating.

Yep, we got that email...also show confirmed for early seating.

  7. I would love to hear from someone who has used the drink vouchers on their cruise. Were all the bartenders aware of this system? Did they have a list of the drinks you could order? Were you given a receipt to sign so you could add a tip, or did you just use cash? Did you have a drink in the lounge, plus use the 3 vouchers elsewhere? (I know this is a lot of drinks in a 3 hour period, just curious)

I know all these questions have been discussed at length, but most posts were people's perceptions of how it will work...I would like to hear from those who have actually experienced it.

    Thanks.

  8. This is frustrating & scary. I keep expecting a post by someone who arrives at port with documents in hand & are told they have no reservation & there no available cabins.. A big part of my excitement for my upcoming cruise has been replaced with concern that I will be that person! It's not just from reading what is happening to others, but my own experience with having my payments dropped & receiving emails with incorrect information. I check my booking more than once every day to assure myself that it hasn't been cancelled. I am very aware of the advice everyone is offering of how to sign on the site to access my booking or to call RCI if I need to make changes, however, I had not made any change when my issue occurred, so I don't believe anyone really knows what is causing the problems or how to prevent them from happening. I accept that mistakes can happen but this is not just human error, but a flaw in the system that needs to be fixed NOW!

  9. I also had this problem. The agent that answered the phone corrected it easily and I was given the same reason that others are... making changes on my booking caused the pricing to drop off. BUT.....I had not made any changes. Also, I recently received an email thanking me for signing up for MTD & told me to go online & reserve my times. We didn't choose MTD, and are still showing confirmed for early seating online. I would be more concerned about this if we were traveling with others & linking our dinner reservations, which we often do. This time is it just two us, so if it isn't right when we board, it shouldn't be too difficult to correct. All that being said, I look at our booking online every day to make sure the RCI computer system gremlins aren't messing with my stuff again.

  10. I'm very interested in seeing how this plays out, as I have a guarantee booked for September. I was encouraged to do so by the RCI Rep. She said "it is the way to go! Oceanview is the lowest category they will put you in...and perhaps they will assign you a higher one....but it will not go lower". I already have my cabin assignment...I am assuming the OP had theirs also, as it is so close to sail date. This means they took the OP's cabin and gave it to someone else.....WHY? What justifies bumping someone from their cabin for another passenger? I would be demanding an answer for that, along with their reason for refusing to let them cancel & rebook or offering them much better compensation for not honoring the guarantee.

  11. I received & printed our cruise docs a while back, they show us as early seating for dinner, which is what we requested. Today, we get emails thanking us for signing up for My Time Dining and to please go online to make our reservations. Online we are still showing as early seating. Anyone have this happen to them? Should I trust the docs or is this worth a call to RCI to confirm our dining arrangements?

Oops! I didn't scroll down far enough to see that this is happening to others. Sorry for repeating a topic.

  12. Over the years, we have missed several scheduled ports. The reason isn't always obvious to us passengers, but I know the decision is usually made for safety reasons, although at times it has been to get back on schedule after a medical emergency caused the ship to turn around. Of course, many people are disappointed, but it is something that must be taken in stride. I have witnessed people berating the Captain at Q&A time because "other ships were there" or "can't we just go to island X instead?" He patiently explains how conditions can change so that it is unsafe to dock or tender when we arrive. He also explained that a ship can't just cruise up to an island & take the nearest "parking spot" ;) There are a lot of regulations involved & a different island cannot always be substituted. I have witnessed people being extremely upset because they had their wedding scheduled during a stop at a particular port or reunions with friends & family. I would never count on a cruise ship as a means of transportation for a special event in a port.

That being said, our port fees & shore excursions booked through RCCL were always promptly refunded to our account

  13. Just a thought...for us seasoned cruisers, it is easy to say we can live without it. ( I think I may qualify for seasoned after 20 cruises) However, for the newbies it can be great fun to clap your hands, wave your napkin around in the air & take pictures of your waiter (faking) balancing wine bottles in their hand. It is all for fun and doesn't upset me in the least.
