We are docked in Ketchikan, overcast and about 45°F. We are doing the Saxman Native Village: Dance Performance and Totem Park. It doesn't start until 10 am, so we had a Lido made to order omelet for breakfast. Shared a table with a fellow who said his wife's suitcase didn't arrive and she was hoping to get it today. Very limited clothing options in the shops! I hope her suitcase arrives.

We had the escargot and soups for starters.Best escargot we ever had on a ship! Tender and hot.DH even got a second one. He also had the French onion soup and I had the artichoke carrot one. Both were tasty, but should be hotter. We also ordered the fish- yellow fin sole. It was a very nice entree, not overcooked and the veggies were just right. Service was terrific.

We ate in MDR this evening, it is the Gala night menu. CO special is Shrimp Jambalaya. The entrance is on deck 2 in the line to the right. There is no set section for CO; just any free table. They called over some guy to look at the tables available. He was going to seat us in the path of traffic and noise. DH said no, and looked for a better section, which we eventually got. There were plenty of spaces so it was kind of annoying. Anyway we ended up with really good waiters, Endri and Bambang.

I had the tomato/lemongrass soup, which I usually get. It was very tasty, but could have been hotter. We shared a grilled shrimp bruschetta. It was okay. Not as nice as on Rotterdam. Main entree was the mushroom ravioli- quite enjoyable. DH had spinach&arugula salad, which he said was good, but only had 2 pieces of blue cheese. Next time he would ask for extra. His entree was the seafood cioppino, which he enjoyed, as messy as it was! He did not care for the bread strip on it because it had too-strong tasting fish seasoning on it. We both had berries sabayon for dessert. I've always thought it would present better without the cookie on top! Service was very slow.

Thanks for all the photos and info. SO glad the Pinancle scallops were good. I order them most times, but the last order on this ship I think they were cooked from frozen: tough, undercooked. Really not up to par at all!
Yes scallops can vary widely! The waiter recommended the halibut over the scallops, and DH wasn't impressed with the halibut. So you never know!

DH is in the spa getting a haircut. First time getting one on board. We are swaying quite a bit right now so hopefully that won't make the scissors slip....

As soon as we got off the ship it started raining, of course. The meeting point for ship tours is just off the ship. Staff hold signs and people just kind of wander around them looking for the right tour sign. When our bus arrived, we were greeted by Jet, a young man of 23 on his 3rd summer working in Alaska. He lives in Utah and putting himself through university there. We had a short bus ride, and he pointed out a few things. I didn't realize that the island was of volcanic rock, with a layer of thin topsoil.
