  2. I asked about "butter chicken" which is an Indian dish we have seen on previous ships in Oceanview.

A couple of nights later, the chef(who is from India) came to our table one night and brought us some of his mother's Butter Chicken and even brough us some Mango Lassis.

People around us asked us what we did special to get a special meal.  We just asked for it.

Yay! Congratulations! We're on the same sailing anxiously awaiting the status of our bid from AQ to a SS. We bid a little bit less than your bid as the value of our Canadian dollar is rather crummy right now.

May I ask if you were assigned an accessible Sky Suite? I ask because I saw that there were four available yesterday and only one is left today. Trying to gauge if I should still keep my hopes up! LOL! 😉

Enjoy the countdown! Hope to see you on board - preferably in The Retreat! (We know we'll have a great time either way!)

Yes, We are in an Accessible Sky Suite.

  5. We got an Accepted Move Up from AQ to SS March 2022.  Got a notification of a charge on my Credit Card and then an email of the Move Up.  Was about 14 days before the cruise date.

Last cruise Sept 2022 submitted a Move Up from Concierge Class to SS.  Got an email from Celebrity about 5 days before cruise that Move Up offer was declined.

We have 3 Move Up offers in pending for our 3/25/2023 cruise, and no indication of  Accept/Declined yet.  Only handicapped SS available currently, so we shall see.

@Sunboater got their Move Up so hoping we will hear something soon.

  7. There was already a day or two between the Bliss cruise and the 3/27 cruise. As the Bliss cruise ends 3/25 in Ft. Lauderdale and the next was supposed to start 3/27 in San Juan.

So traveling and cleaning I don't think would take longer for a Nude Swingers cruise.

The email said unscheduled repairs. Wonder where they will be repairing it....in Ft. Lauderdale or San Juan. Or somewhere else.

Just hope whatever repairs don't last longer... As I don't want a longer extended stay in San Juan.

  8. If they are on a plane it is because the airline allows it as a courtesy. The ADA only recognizes dogs and in some cases horses.

    Horses?

I just don't get it. We saw a young woman with a dog on her lap on a plane once. She was actually bragging about being able to have the dog on her lap and that the airline couldn't do anything about it since it was a service animal.

It helped her anxiety of flying.

I take Xanax for anxiety... it's easier than dealing with a dog, it's carrier and such.

  9. I sneeze often when someone walks by reeking of smoke or flowery perfume. There is a woman where I work that smokes often and sprays herself with perfume when she come back in the office. Just walking by my cube makes me sneeze.

One sneeze does not necessarily mean you are contagious.

  10. I don't think they would extend the cruise another day for missing Monday. There is another cruise that goes out on 4/1 headed to Bermuda. They probably want to make sure the ship is okay to travel the 2 or 3 days from San Juan to Bermuda.

Yes, it sucks and we just booked another night in San Juan.

I am sure there will be some compensation. Someone booked what appeared to be a letter with compensation information and the new itinerary in the Roll Call. Don't know if it is true or not.

I would rather be delayed boarding then the whole cruise be cancelled.

  11. After a few days on a cruise where everyday was cloudy and rained, we ventured to the casino. We are not big gamblers but we're quite bored from being shut in. I went off in one direction with $20 and husband went off in another direction with another $20 bill I had to play the penny slots. I lost all my $20 and went to find my husband. He was playing a slot called Lucky Lemmings. It was a pretty funny game and we were both laughing until I looked down. "Does that say $600?" I asked. He replied "yup". So I lost $20 and he won $580 in that same amount of time. He cashed out and paid our bar tab. I later asked him for the $20 he owed me.. ;p

  12. Two incidents come to mind.

First was a man arguing with customer service on the ship in his cruise issued bathrobe. "I could have paid $1500 to lay on the beach in Miami!" He walked away with excursion tickets. This happened two days in a row. Guess he thought excursionshe were included with the cruise.

Second was a lady complaining to the omlette cook about why the cook serving the line she was in was so slow. And how she needed to go ahead of me as she was next and waited long enough. I kept my mouth shut tightly as she butted her way and ordered in front of me. "I will take four omlettes, the first with....wait.. hold on" and yells to her husband, "what did you want honey?"

    Unbelievable!

  13. You had a very cold fridge that was empty on Carnival?

After 4 cruises on Carnival we are making the jump to Celebrity after being disgusted by rude low class cruisers. Yes, I know they are very where but the last cruise was the last straw.

We never witnessed a very cold empty fridge on Carnival. You must be lucky!

  14. Why was she alone? I cruise a lot as a solo, so unless my steward reported me as not having taken a shower or slept in my bed, who would know until debarkation day?

Even when I cruise with my sister, she sometimes stays out late in the casino, or gets up if she can't sleep and heads to the Lido with a book so she won't bother me. I wouldn't know she was gone or never came in until the next morning.

The fact that the lady was by herself doesn't seem strange to me at all.

    Roz

Key words "if alcohol was involved" so do u walk around by yourself sloppy drunk on a cruise or allow your sister to go to the casino drunk.

I wouldn't leave my sisters side if she was alcohol impaired under any circumstances.

  15. Been following this thread since Friday, how sad. It's a shame she's lost her life, and left her husband and children to always kind of wonder what exactly happened and what was she thinking. I know it was reported that she sat on a railing and fell backwards. SO much speculation on here that maybe she drank to much. Why was she alone? In the end, none of it makes a difference. She did something stupid and unfortunately lost her life for it. We've all done stupid things, hindsight is 20/20. There is a lot of stupid stuff I've done, and looking back I think about how much of a different outcome there could've been. So regardless if she was drunk, suicidal, or just not thinking... a life was lost. Young kids now don't have their mother and a man is widowed. There seems to be a lot of arguing on this thread about this law and that law. Truth is, it just doesn't matter at the end of the day. She's gone and bickering and go back and forth about "woulda coulda shoulda's" won't bring her back. My thoughts and prayers are with her family, I hope they can find some sort of peace in all of this.

I am with Jackie. Why was she alone? I know my girlfriends, sister and now husband would wonder where I was within 15 minutes. If I went to the restroom, get food, or whatever. If I didn't come back I would be searched for. Especially when drinking was involved. We would always go to the bathrooms in pairs for that reason.

And no one saw her fall? On such a large ship I would think someone saw something!

My heart and prayers do go out to the family. Hope they find some closure in this horrible accident.

  16. We did a cruise the week before Thanksgiving last year out of Miami to the Eastern Caribbean. Will never again as it rained everyday. The one day it was sunny it was so windy that you couldn't lay on deck. There was a tropical system that parked itself south of Miami the whole week. We hoped as we moved South it would get better but it didn't. Blah!

  17. Spoke to an electrical engineer who read the USCG clip together. It was a feedback loop in the ground between the surge protector and the device plugged in. Since there is no ground on a ship, there was nothing to stop the loop. Is why fire in the picture shows damage to surfaces but no mention about fire in the walls. Most small electronics don't use the ground on the surge protector and wouldn't cause the loop. Now a laptop, TV or monitor shown in the picture would have the ground and cause the loop. Ground is the third plug. So buy a power outlet with no grounds or don't use devices that use the ground. We take mp3 players, cell phones and tablets on a cruise. Never a laptop or TV and hence in his opinion we would not have an issue.

  18. Where does it say that surge protectors cause fires on cruise ships?

There is an article about excessive use cords and an advisory, not a mandate by the USCG.

And Carnival's website says exceptions allowed are: extension cords (without surge protectors).

It mentions nothing about surge protectors being allowed or not allowed on multi plug box outlets/adaptors.

If my 3 plug adapter were to have caused a fire, then I should have been in a burn unit 10 years ago. Stringing extension cords across the room would be more of a hazard than my 3 plug adapter I am sure!
