  1. Thanks for the reassurance about being able to find food. There have been a few places we have visited that literally I ate bread and cheese lol.

I have tried to do as much research about Dubrovnik as I could and find things inside the old town that suited our interests as well as taking in the breathtaking views from the wall and top of the cable car.

Thanks once again for all your contributions to making sure that people have a great visit to your home.

  2. Well after weeks of occasional reading (and some note taking) I can say that I have read this thread from beginning to end.

There is not much not addressed here if people would just take the time to read. But it is LONGGGGG LOL.

That being said I do have a few questions.

We will be in Dubrovnik 1 June on the Carnival Sunshine. The port website does not list the Sunshine but I am assuming that is is simply listed as the Conquest instead. I thought that the Legend and Sunshine were the only Carnival ships doing med this summer.

Anyway, we were originally going to do a cruise excursion that involved a riverboat tour which sounded fun and different. But after reading 1300 posts I know that we definitely need to just go do the city on it's own.

What I was thinking was take the shuttle into the old town, start at the pileentrance and walk the sea side of the wall, exit at the ploche exit and go to the stop and catch the cabrio bus for the tour. ride the whole circuit and then go back into the city for lunch and a little exploring.

after that maybe a little rest at a cafe for some wine and then taxi (do we need to do this or walk? i remember that there are lots of steps and a confusing path??) to the cable car then head back to the ship.

according to the carnival website we will be there until 7 pm ships time.

    any of this could change.

does this sound like an ok plan?

also i have a food question. I am not eat seafood, beef or lamb. Will I have trouble finding food to eat at lunch at the local restaurants? I know that dubrovnik lady can not reccommend any restaurants but can anyone else? Also any particular dishes you would reccommend and I will just look for those whereever we end up eating. My husband eats anything and everything so no problems with him!

One more thing, dubrovnik lady I have read through a few years of your posts now. I just want to say you are amazing and patient answering the same questions over and over again!

    Can't wait for dubrovnik!!

  3. I enjoyed reading this thread.

In the past we have gone to art auctions and bought a few pretty things. I've gotten facials, massages and mani/pedis. We've donated lots of money to Carnival in the casinos and bought tons of pics and canvases from the photo shop.

All off that is kind of a been there done that kind of thing and we are over it.

We have sailed with ocean view and balcony... Never made a difference to us so inside is perfectly fine.

If we want a drink we have it, but we don't drink like mad at home so we certainly won't on a cruise. I buy the wine package and my husband buys the soda card. Other than that we splurge on a latte every day because coffee is my thing.

We dine at the specialty restaurant the first night when they give us a bottle if wine free. Other than that we eat MDR.

As for excursions we sometimes do them, sometimes do the city on our own and we sometimes book outside and sometimes book carnival.

I have played bingo before but meh... It's not really for me.

We buy interesting souviners in port and never mind spending a little cash to get a nice local experience.

In May we are doing a 12 day med cruise, all new ports for us!!! Can't wait!!
