  1. Just curious what is the cost of the Refections CD that is sold onboard? We have an upcoming Panama Canal cruise on the Coral and was wondering if they include footage of the actual Canal crossing for the cruise you are on or just "stock" video? As always thanks for the invaluable input from fellow cruisers!

  2. We are sailing on the Coral Princess 16 day Los Angeles to Ft Lauderdale departing Jan 5. How popular do you think the Sanctuary be for that cruise? Just wondering if it is something we should think about doing? We are not elite so will not be the first on the ship. Thanks for all the great input from fellow cruisers!

  3. We will be disembarking the Coral Princess in Fort Lauderdale Port Everglades and want to rent a car at the port and return car at FLL airport 3 days later. Are there any Car Rental Cos that offer this?

    Thanks!

  4. Hotel for Wed- Sat is in Manhattan so we will not need car. We are going to and staying in NJ for Saturday to visit family,. Will then drive back to NYC to board ship Sunday am. Hate to pay all that $ for parking with the hotel when we don't need the car. I think Port Imperial is the way we are gong for the Wed-Sat. As for the cruise Sun-Sun think we will see how it goes we may go for the convenience of the port parking. Thanks all for your input!

  5. We are sailing on the 12/20 Breakaway in Haven Spa Suite 14140. I do not believe this has a pole but will let you know once we actually see for ourselves! Also, I went on the NCL website and searched for a cruise, when the pop up online "can I help you" person came up I asked her which H9 cabins had "the pole" and she was able to tell me. It took a little while and I am not sure of the accuracy but she did tell me my cabin did not have "the pole". Sorry but I do not have that list. I am 100% certain that all the H9 have the pole as I have seen some pic of cabins that do not have it.

  6. HI! Has anyone used the NJ Transit- Port Imperial Weehawken Ferry for NYC departures? We are thinking of using this as we are in NCY for 4 days prior to departure and between hotel parking ( 300.00) and cruise terminal parking ( 250.00) this would save considerable parking fees. Looks pretty convenient just wondering if anyone has feedback. Thanks!

  7. Thanks everyone for the feedback. My intention was not to reduce the normal (generous) tips we give our cabin crew but an additional "gift" to acknowledge the holidays. This is for both the cabin crew and other crew that standout and provide appreciated service. It has been a few years since we last cruised and at that time the internet cards were a popular and appreciated gift.

How do the crew hero cards work?

I think I will bring some holiday cards and when I get on board grab some of the crew hero cards and have carry some with me so if we encounter a situation where we receive exemplary service I will fill out both a holiday card and a crew hero card and put a few $$ in the envelope for the crew member and tell them I have submitted the crew hero card for them. Not the same as a little wrapped gift in my mind, especially if you can find something small that the crew would appreciate, but it will do!

  8. Does anyone know if they still sell internet minute cards and if crew members still like to receive them? I seem to remember reading that is a nice gift to give them so they can call home. We will be cruising over Christmas and I was thinking of getting a little something as an actual wrapped gift to give especially nice crew members. Any other ideas as far as a little gift crew members might appreciate? Thanks!

  9. yikes! I am almost afraid to answer! As far as the incentives and what I am entitled to perhaps it was a bad choice of word. Going into this I was more concerned with making sure I kept the one UBP that I started out with. When I upgraded they reversed off the gratuities previously paid as they stated gratuities were complementary with the Haven. I was afraid if when we boarded we would not have the UBP and I would have no proof that I had them with the original booking. I have read about mix ups like this happening from other members who changed their reservations this close to sailing so I just wanted to document so I could reduce any stress at check in. Anything above that we will just have to see if it actually comes through when we get on board. I am keeping copies of everything just in case.

As far as the upsell, I booked through one of the online cruises sites. I have been watching the Haven spa suites for a few weeks and even this close to sailing only one was sold while the spa mini suites only had a few left. This is a holiday cruise so I am guessing the Spa Suites that only hold 2 are not that popular. I contacted the travel agency and had them call to see what the cost of upgrade was and it was something I was comfortable with.

  10. I just took advantage of an up sell to Haven Spa Suite on the Dec 20 Breakaway sailing and am a little concerned about the incentives I had with my original booking in a spa mini suite carrying over. When i look online at my reservation the vacation summary amenity detail is listing all 4 of the incentives even though when I originally booked only had the UBP. When I called to confirm they states that yes my reservation shows all 4. While this would be a great surprise I am somehow visioning a problem when we are checking in😧. Is there somewhere I can get a definitive list so I can print it out to bring with me to prove what I should have?

  11. First off this is not meant to be a discussion of tipping or not tipping! I know the mandatory gratuity covers this and anything above that is a personal choice we choose to make. We are tippers and usually will budget to tip room stewards a generous amount. My question is peoples experience with when they tip? We have done it both ways- on the first day when we first meet or on the next to last day. I prefer to doing it upfront as I feel it lets the person know we appreciate the service and are willing to pay for it. Hopefully it will ensure consistent good service. I feel better about requesting service that will make my vacation more enjoyable. What are other peoples experience?

  12. Hi we booked a Spa Mini Suite Cabin 14770 for an upcoming cruise and was wondering if anyone has experience with this cabin? Specifically, it seems there are smoking areas on the Starboard side of the ship and I was wondering if there is any smoke odor from these areas on this balcony? Also any noise from above? Thanks!
