I've never been on a 6 day cruise (only longer ones), but I've been to three Chef's Tables.
Do they have a Chef's table on a 6 day cruise?

Hi Nhsaltshaker,
What State(s) do you all live in?
Steve Dasseos
We are all spread out over the East coast, the military member lives in Maryland.

My nephew wants to go with us on a family cruise. He is active in the US military. I'm having a difficult time trying to find an insurance plan for him if he has to cancel because of his duties.
Does anyone know of a plan/company that covers that?

Thanks to all who provided an update of UBD, but that is not the question I need answers to.

Does anyone know if the ship tours have started up again? I remember they didn't have it during the Covid outbreak.
Heading out on Caribbean Princess in April.

The Breakfast card you hang on your door is your best bet. Ordering anything during Formal nights, forget about it.

Julie, add one more. I found out from someone I met on the cruise that she tested positive a few days after she got home. I wouldn't be surprised if there were many others.
I hope you are feeling better.

So glad you're doing better! We've never met but I have checked daily to see if you are alright. I agree Covid is a very serious virus and thank you for posting your experience. For the first time since forever, I did not buy an FCC and will put off cruising when, and if, people take it more seriously and wear masks/practice better hygiene. It will be very hard not to cruise for awhile. Being on my toes and avoiding crowded spaces wasn't as relaxing as I had hoped. Got off the ship a week after you and am still testing negative...fingers crossed.
Hope you have a speedy and complete recovery. Bless you for posting. Take care.

98 percent of passengers aren't wearing masks. Not inside, not on elevators, not in venues, not in ports, buses, stores...you name it. This variant is highly contagious. I suggest bringing an N95 mask for each day and wear it anytime you are in an enclosed area, including the theatre.

In your opinion, is MDR on Princess Cay day the best idea? My first time to Princess Cay--I understand Princess serves food to the passengers off the ship--although it might be more the burgers-and-pizza type than the MDR. But you're out on the beach, so....picnic food out on the beach might be better than waiting in line on the ship.
Sorry, I ordered pizza to my cabin after reboarding the ship. It was delicious.

And this was on the first full At-Sea day?
No, Princess Cay.

Yes I exaggerated a little about the masks. There are a few. We wear ours because we want to spend two weeks in our suite not in a quarantine cabin. My mask is a medical issue not a political issue. I will never understand how the two got mixed.
We did the Hobie Cat at Princess Cays and had a lot of fun. It isn’t hard to do and we’ve done it before at Sandals in St Lucia and Montego Bay. NormNobody thinks about the quarantine. They figure "I paid for this cruise". To each their own. Not debating, just observing. The only one watching out for me is me. The only one watching out for you is you and maybe a significant other. Meteor shower tomorrow night! Possible rocket launch June 9.

I'm just off the Caribbean Princess. We had a great cruise until yesterday. Our cabin had plumbing issues. The toilet backed up and overflowed. Our cabin steward told us that all of the 700 cabins on all floors on both sides of the ship had problems. Supposedly the problem was solved last night, but we were not informed of that until we were walking off the ship. Right now I'm not remembering any of the good parts of the cruise, only last nights plumbing problems. Good luck to anyone staying in the aft portion of the ship.
Do you mean all cabins starting with #7 had this problem?

Hi
I became very close to the floor supervisor on CC Dolphin deck and the steward. We What's app all the time. I just sent him a note. He said the ship is full. I told him about some of the things you guys said and about not enough staff etc. I am positive he will do what he can to try and help with some of the things with the proper people on board and tell them about the issues.
I asked if they are still keeping a Covid section blocked off and he said yes
Best wishes
Kathy
Thank you. Did he mention which section is blocked off?

Should it show? Yes. Does it? Not for me. But I'm bringing paper proof of everything, just in case.

NOT NECESSARILY A MEDALLION APP issue (pre-cruise):
Just returned from a cruise where Medallion APP did not function at 100 percent. Not surprised.
1. Would not default to current voyage. I had to manually go back to photo, drop down to voyages, reset so I could actually use Medallion Net.
2. Could not get onboard account. Finally, Medallion people set up a hot button my my device homepage: "Ocean Concierge". Best solution ever! Patter showed up as a list (not like Journey View).
Of course....they are doing away with this option in a couple of weeks as they update their app. UGH
3. Had to delete, reload, sign in multiple times during my cruise.
4. Switching devices (swap) for Medallion worked sometimes. Not seamless.
Medallion itself died 12 hours before I disembarked from a 25 day cruise. At the most inopportune time.
Crew Chat worked well. Finding shipmates worked most of the time (after I "learned" really how to use it). Messaging friends was a whole different ball game. Loved unlimited wi-fi but it was slow. Could not download many photos, videos, etc.
May I ask which ship this was?

Princess posted that before the 2nd booster was even available, sooo, I vote that your good to go.

If you/your phone is using autofill, make sure to eliminate any spaces before or after your entry(s).
Good luck, all I get on the Dining is 'not available right now'.

I enjoyed your thread, beginning to end. Thank you so much for giving us your 'time'. Safe travels home!
p.s. I think the interesting boat you mentioned is actually a floating bar.
-
I always bring my phone or Kindle when eating solo. Dinner service seems to be better, they think I'm 'reporting'.

According to Princess' website Crown is due to have MedallionNet operational "by July 12." When do you cruise?
Next week. I know the Medallion thing is in the summer. Not looking to get it next week. I was on the Star 2 years ago and found it perfectly acceptable for ship internet. Of course, I know to turn off the Cloud and always perform updates manually while on the ship. And this time I'll have a VPN. But on the Caribbean Princess last year, before Medallion, the ship already had super fast internet (at the old price platform) as they were getting ready to launch MedallionNet.

I just got off the Crown a week ago. The internet was horrible. It may be fine for bringing in emails and surfing but I do an email every night after a port. I include pictures and a narrative. I send it to over a 100 people. I had to split up the people in smaller groups so that the email would go out and even then it took maybe 5 or 10 minutes to just get one out. I send out five duplicates all to different people. I also upload my pictures to Facebook. That took a bit of time too but all things considered I thought that the internet did fairly well uploading the pictures to Facebook. I was on a 10 day cruise and I burned through 250 minutes.
I was on the Caribbean Princess last month. It has Medallion Net. Very fast. I have to say I got spoiled because my last 4 cruises before the one on the Crown all had Medallion Net. It is very hard going from Medallion Net to the Old internet. I can't wait until all the ships have Medallion Net.
Thank you so much for your descriptive reply!

Has anyone been on a RECENT cruise that has the Ultimate Ship Tour? We're sailing on the Caribbean Princess next month.
I'm wondering if they have started it up again after Covid.
