Biggest problem for me with this slice and dice cut up of the ship and available cabins (not rooms( it how cumbersome it is to get the over all view of the ship, location to various stairwells-elevator banks and the big picture of the entire deck. Seeing only one third of the ship at a time and not being able easily see an entire deck is a big fail for me. Way too much scrolling and clicking - very annoying.
Give us the BIG picture, HAL for each full deck. Please.
Hal website does have full deck plans for every ship showing staterooms (not cabins) that can be opened in a second internet explorer tab at the same time and just toggle between them.

I have done two cruises from Copenhagen during the past few years.
Both have sailed from the Copenhagen Ocean Quay Cruise Terminal.

TV channels consist of news and sports only. There is a large Video on demand library of movies and documentaries as well as audio channels accessible via the stateroom TVs.

Other HAL ships (Volendam & Amsterdam) that have previously docked on the Huangpu river near the Bund are approx. 155 feet shorter than the Westerdam. The issue is most likely the turning basin is too small for the Westerdam to turn in the Huangpu river. There is also a road bridge down river that has to be navigated. The height of the Westerdam may also make this an issue to pass under the bridge.

I applied and received credit in July for a cruise in February 2019.

Electrically powered bedside clocks use the electricity frequency (usually 50Hz or 60Hz) to keep time. A small difference in voltage does not matter. Power distribution companies make sure the correct frequency is generated so the clock at home will keep accurate time. On board a ship this does not normally happen, hence the known issue of electric clocks not keeping the correct time.

I've read that a lot of the Vista cabins on Volendam are noisy - Deck 6 noise from below and Deck 7 noise from above.
I'd be grateful for any views from anyone with past experience of Vista cabins on either Deck 6 or 7 and any recomendations.
Thanks
I have stayed in 6118 which is directly above public washrooms and there is quite a lot of plumbing sounds day and night.
I have also stayed in 6136 and there were no sound issues from below.

The arrival time of 7am is dependent upon the traffic using the North Sea canal and Lock. Our Cruise arrival last July was delayed until after 8am.

I was on the Volendam in November when the ship was in Asia and I thought the internet speed was OK. I was able to stream live sport in the late evening without glitches or buffering.

Avoid 6118 as it is directly above a public restroom. There is lots of running water sounds coming from below all hours of the day and night. Rooms further forward on deck 6 are above the main theatre so there is a risk of sound during rehearsals and show times. I would also suggest avoiding any adjoining rooms.

We have found that it is always wise to avoid the cruise immediately prior to, or immediately after a scheduled dry dock. We had planned to take the Volendam from Hong Kong to Singapore, but canceled when we found out that it just before a dry dock period. Pretty much all of the lines will start work during the cruise prior to prepare for dry dock, and will continue unfinished work on the first cruise after dry dock.
I was on the cruise prior to the ship going into dry dock. There was no visible preparation work being carried out during the cruise.

During a recent "Ask The Captain" session on board the Koningsdam during July, the captain said the ship is due its first guarantee dry docking in November 2018.
During dry docking they plan to introduce a proper library. This announcement got a round of applause from the audience.

I was on the Volendam last October and the ship was in good condition. The Volendam is due to go into dry dock in Singapore at the end of November 2017 for regular maintenance and upgrades. The Hal website deck plans show some of the changes.

I booked a cruise whilst on board the Volendam last October and got the OBC but also complimentary Pinnacle Dinner and beverage package for a Koningsdam cruise for July this year.

so, CAN you get a CAN of Coke on board...or is it from a fountain?
Many thanks!
I had a soda card and was able to use it on recent Volendam (Oct 2016) and Koningsdam (Jul 2017) cruises to get Coke Zero in cans. It would appear that if the soda dispenser does not have the soda product they will provide the canned product instead.
The can cost was more than the soda dispenser but was credited off the soda card OK.

The Koningsdam arrival into Amsterdam on 23 July was approx 45 minutes late due to delays at the canal lock. Arrival was to be at 7am but disembarkation started at approx 7:45am.

There are plenty of taxis available right outside the cruise terminal. This photo was taken on 23 July.

The Konningsdam Balcony suite TV are 42".
They do not have the full function Samsung remote control, but instead have a basic on/off, channel up/down, volume up/down, mute and buttons to move around the HAL multi-media menu options.
-
The TVs are Samsung Smart TVs so they do have headphone socket. Unfortunately the TVs are wall mounted and the all the connection sockets are inaccessible.

Does this ship have self service laundry or do you send it out for them to do?

Yes the Volendam has a self service laundry. Here are some photos I took last October.

Grand Dutch Cafe if you're having trouble with the coffee in the Lido. They make a nice latte, and both of the gentlemen who work there regularly are well travelled and have good advice on what to see.
The Grand Dutch Cafe has fantastic Dutch Apple pie and cream. Nearly became a daily afternoon requirement!
