The plan suggested by Copper 10-8 is what did last October. I checked in at 1pm, which was very quick, and was back out to look around Yokohama port area. The Yokohama Octoberfest was happening, lots of German beer, sausages and bands. Also further along is the Ferris wheel and white training ship.
The muster drill I believe was held at 7:30 pm.

During a recent "Ask The Captain" session on board the Koningsdam, the captain said the ship is due its first guarantee dry docking in November 2018.
During dry docking they plan to introduce a proper library. This announcement got a round of applause from the audience.

On what objective and normalized research about the preferences of the entire range of Holland America customers do you base that claim?
Not sure what claim you are referencing, however HAL installed internet on all of their ships many years ago. Why? Because that is what their customers wanted and were willing to pay for. Posters on CC topics about internet routinely want faster internet speeds, as do I.

Investment of the resources and capital available should be directed towards what customers are most willing to pay extra for.
Such as faster internet.

Investment should be made for what customers want now and are willing to pay extra for. "Technology" costs have dropped significantly with previous and on-going R&D developments.

And before anyone says that its investment for the future recognize that when the current system was installed in the ship it was also an investment for the future. Today is the future that the current system installed in the ships was intended to serve.

Building any new ship is an investment for the future. Don't forget they do regular dry dock upgrades to keep the ships relevant to what they think the customer wants or what the competition is doing.

The generation that literally cannot accept a week or so with slow internet is not yet the primary target market segment. By the same token, once they are, we can be sure things will be different.

I am from the so called "primary target market segment", yet I also want fast internet connectivity.

Ship internet is satellite based , as result internet would be slow or none existant in some parts of the world. Aircraft internet is a ground based system that use signals from the ground not from space.
Aircraft internet access is via high-speed Ka/Ku band satellite network.

I see Carnival Corp has published the latest shares benefits.
The benefit is applicable on sailings through July 31, 2018, and are similar to the previous year.

The Digital Workshops are free of charge and no reservation is required. It is on a first come first server basis and can fill up pretty quickly.
The different classes are repeated at different times of the day throughout the cruise and sometime includes handouts and Microsoft related freebies.
