i don't understand this question... How is it possible to have wine left over at the end of a cruise?
lol!

The last time we were in Sitka, the eagles there were like pigeons - just everywhere! They also have a raptor center there where they'll nurse injured birds back to health and release them back into the wild once healed (if at all possible).

It's likely to rain in September but no bugs, it's too late in the season for them. I was in Alaska last September, didn't see a single mosquito - and I was traveling inland (Denali).
I'm SO VERY glad to hear that! Thank you. Rain I can deal with - but bugs are troublesome for me!

Just a quick note on passports. I just booked a cruise (round trip Seattle) in September with HAL, and I was told I needed to get a passport for my son (adult). Even though Canada will accept a valid ID and birth certificate for ground or sea border crossings, HAL would not. You might want to check with the cruise line first so no one gets denied boarding in Seattle. That would be too sad!

We're going too!
Westerdam 05-Sept-15
7 night Alaska, round-trip Seattle. 1st "real" HAL cruise (did a 1 night years ago).

I just had an email (TravelZoo) that says the Pan Pacific is offering a rate of $116 US if you book 2 or more nights (stays through August). Wish I'd been able to take advantage of that one! Not sure how quickly you need to book to get the deal.

Anyone familiar with the Metropolitan Hotel Vancouver? We're staying there for a couple of nights before our cruise in May. We live in Seattle and have been to Vancouver many times, so we wanted somewhere nice that we hadn't been to before. It's pretty easy to just take a cab to the ship, so we weren't too worried about proximity that way.
