    I just found this news.

The cargo ship that crashed into the Francis Scott Key Bridge in Baltimore was carrying dozens of hazardous material containers, some of which were breached during the collapse, the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) announced Wednesday.

NTSB chair Jennifer Homendy on Wednesday said the agency was able to obtain the cargo manifest of the ship, named Dali, which was on its way to Sri Lanka when it smashed into the Francis Scott Key Bridge in Baltimore overnight Tuesday.

She said one of the NTSB senior hazmat investigators identified “56 containers of hazardous materials” on Dali, a 985-foot-long vessel.

“That’s 764 tons of hazardous materials — mostly corrosives, flammables and some miscellaneous hazardous materials, class nine hazardous materials which would include lithium-ion batters,” Homendy said during a Wednesday press conference. “Some of the hazmat containers were breached.”

So much for local crabs this year.

I agree, I have better offers and don't think we'll be booking one of these - but it does look like the screenshot posted above includes a Baltimore sailing in November 2025, is that not showing an option for you?

No I didn't get every sailing offered to me. I have a free cabin offer with OBC. And I can use it on any sailing 8 nights or less. I think I'll use that instead.

  3. This is my first time booking a guarantee room. We sail in less than a month. I don't much care which room we get. I'm just anxious to see which one we will be in. I'm not very good with patience. The price was too good to not to a TBA room. We are only paying for fees and taxes.

If you plan to gamble and get the points I would not buy the drink package personally. 1500 points really isn't that many tbh, lots of folks get that many on the first night - obviously depending on how much you bet etc.

I do lots of drinking not in the casino. Plus, I don't want to wait that long into my cruise to get free drinks. My husband would need the drink package, so I'd have to buy it anyway.

  5. I just hope they continue to go out of Baltimore for a very long time. They have to do that with a small ship due to it having to fit under the Key Bridge. We love going out of Charleston for short cruises and our home port of Baltimore for long cruises. Unfortunately, Charleston is going away this year. I'd hate to love Baltimore also.

I do my “virtual packing” months ahead. I use a template for 5-4-3-2-1 packing which I made. This virtual packing makes me realize any pieces I may be missing or which may need to be replaced and gives me time to replace them. I sew much of my own clothing so time is important. My trip to Alaska is over 30 weeks away and I was going to only have 2 pairs of shoes till I stumbled upon a pattern to make my own leather shoes which would be perfect. I can’t make a new pair of shoes the night before so planning is key. The physical packing starts about a week before usually.

Please explain the 5-4-3-2-1 packing. I'm intrigued.

I’m surprised to hear that Carnival has a Tea time (yea!) I’m really picky & this is my first Carnival cruise: Transatlantic on the Legend, April 15 from Baltimore.

    So, tell me more.

    What time?
    Is it every day?

Or is Tea on every Sea Day?

Are you seated in the MDR?
Is the tea delivered prepared and ready to pour?

(Or do they pass around tea bags to put into not-so-boiling water?)

Has anyone ever requested a tea kettle for their cabin? (In Dec. NCL Prima actually delivered one at my request.)

Several TAs ago we crossed on the Queen Mary and the TEA was the only reason I would sail Cunard again (it was that good).

Thank you for indulging me this one peculiarity of mine.

    Cheers,

    Susan

I bring my own tea bags. I'm kind of a tea snob. I prefer Barry's Gold or Barry's Breakfast.

We saw the Caper thing on our second, maybe third, day aboard listed in the fun times. This was the Spirit to Alaska Aug 2022. We said hey that seems cool, and went to the library. There was absolutely no event happening or fun squad to be seen. I asked about it at guest services and they had absolutely no idea what I was talking about, even when I showed them the hub app. They actually sent me to the kids club! Later I discovered we had missed the debrief event the day before, and that what we saw in the fun times was just an opportunity to pick up the next clue. It was such a let down to have not been able to participate. So if it's something you are interested in doing, be sure to keep a lookout for it from the first day.

Thanks for the heads up. I'll keep a look out.
