  1. I had an offer today for $490 on Mardi Gras going from a balcony to a suite.  I thought it was a good rate after checking to see that the Ocean Suite was going for $4,129 for the sailing date of May 22, 2022.  I was able to get the upgrade through the site.   Now I'm trying to find out what all benefits come with the suite.  Seems like Carnival doesn't offer double points for suites like RC. Or am I mistaken?

  2. I received my letter yesterday stating that my excursion had been canceled and would be refunded to my CC.  It was a generic email and did not specify FTTF.  However, it was the only excursion I purchased for the August 29th sailing so that's what it has to be.  Checked my cruise planner and it was gone.  Oh well!  I will keep all documentation until refund is received.

  3. We received notification that Carnival has changed our ports from Ocho Rios, Grand Cayman and Cozumel to Bimini, Half Moon Cay and Amber Cove.  However, I can't see any excursions or activities for the new ports.  I really don't care that the ports have been changed.  I'll be happy just to get back to cruising.  But I'm wondering if anyone has any information on Bimini?

I was able to get it for my Feb 2021 Symphony sailings (B2B).  I had to first cancel the package I had already purchased, which was a DBP+1Voom and was able to repurchase just the drinks package for $44.  So now I don't have any Voom...but I will just wait until I get onboard and use the D+ discount.

I also repurchased my Beverage Package and no longer have Voom.  I'm hoping they run it on sale.  Maybe for Labor Day or Thanksgiving.

A good price on a beverage package for a cruise that won't sail is not a bargain; just another loan to RCCL.

It's all about choices.  I work and decide how I'm going to spend my $$. I had previously purchased the package for $53 per day so obviously I'm not worried about loaning RCCL money.  If the ship sails then in my mind I got a good deal.  If it doesn't, then I will purchase a beverage package on another cruise.  Life is to short to worry about all the things that may go wrong.

Good deal plus nobody knows if they are going to raise the individual drink prices on board. We would spend $30 each just for wine before and during dinner. Doesn't take long to get to $44 the rest of the day.

Yup I agree with hitting the $44 mark pretty quickly.  Two coffees in the morning, a couple of bottles of water and two drinks by the pool in the early afternoon and I'm there already.

I have cruises for feb. What does it mean my cruise might be locked. I cant get into plan a cruise.

Usually this happens to me when I call RC and I am still logged into my account.  They tell me I have to log out of the account.  Maybe if you booked through a TA they are still logged into you account.  Or the other person traveling with you logged in and never logged out of the account.

  8. Yippie.  I was able to get the $44 drink package for both of my cruises.  It took a lot of patience and logging out and back in again but I got it.  I had to cancel my original beverage package on the Symphony sailing in January.  Once I canceled I was able to repurchase it for the $44 price.

  10. RC is running a sale on the deluxe beverage package tonight.  I was able to get it at $44 per day plus tax for a sailing on Navigator of the Seas in February.  I went to buy it for my sailing on Symphony of the seas and although it's advertised for $44 the banner says Sells out quickly.  I previously purchased it for the Symphony for $53 so I call RC and they said it's sold out.  I logged back in and it shows available.  I would need to cancel my $53 to see if I could luck out and get the $44.  Every time I add it to my cart it says you already purchased this item.  Anyone else luck out and get this sale?

  11. My cruise habits depend on who I'm cruising with but it will probably change.  If I am cruising with my husband, we will be in a balcony or a Jr. Suite.  He only goes on one cruise per year and has his must have's in order to go.  We go on the RC excursions.  We will have the drink package and eat at at least two specialty restaurants.  We go on the RC excursions.  I plan the trip early and monitor the prices.  We use OBC credits from our TA and us credits from our RC credit card.  We get what we want but I am always looking for a discount so maybe I am frugal.  I don't use the spas on the ship.

If I am cruising with my family or friends, we may stay in a balcony or OV but I've never stayed in an interior.  After COVID I am thinking I will only travel in a balcony even if it means I have to chip in more if the other person is short on funds.  I don't have an issue with the MDR but I am hoping they reduce the amount of people that eat at each setting.  Otherwise I will eat in the Windjammer or any of the other venues on the ship.  I am booked on the Symphony for the 17th of October and the 30th of January.  I am thinking the October one will be cancelled but am hoping that the January one sails.  For both of them I am in a balcony.

  12. Well I have to come back and post that the change fee is listed in my contract.  I guess I let my guard down and did not fully read my contract. I've used them for the past several years and made price adjustments with them just last year and did not get a fee.  I knew if I cancelled my booking I would incur the fee but I did not know that if there was a promotion change there would be a fee.  Lesson Learned.

A $ 50.00 USD per person cancellation fee applies to any reservation booked through our agency and applies to each guest listed in the cabin(s) at time of cancellation.  The cancellation fee is applicable to each reservation booked (including separate reservations which together make a longer voyage -otherwise known as sequential or “back to back” reservations).  Changes of ship, sailing date, promotion (even when the reservation number stays the same), or outright cancellation of the reservation will result in the cancellation fee being imposed.

    What exactly is “wave season?”

    What is Wave Season?

Wave season is a three-month period from (approximately) January 1 to March 31, when cruise lines and travel agents book a very large number of cruise cabins. Think of it as a “wave” of bookings; it’s kind of like Black Friday or Cyber Monday, but it lasts for three whole months.

Your TA is wrong or lazy .

I believe it is a combination of wrong and lazy LOL.  So I called Carnival for clarification.  They reviewed all of our bookings and said there should be no penalty accessed and questioned the "WAVE" penalty.  Of course there is nothing they could do because it belongs to the TA which I fully understand.  Prior to this booking I was considering switching TA's but it was just easier to stay with her and the loyalty perks are pretty good.  Well guess that was a lesson learned.  I did send her another email asking for further clarification on the fee and to let her know about my conversation with Carnival.

That is not true at all! I've booked the Magic in September and already gotten a couple price reductions in wave season through my travel agent and there was no fee involved.

I've also had several changes during prior cruises and never was charged for doing a price reduction.  That is why I wanted to reach out to other's to see if they had ever heard of this policy.

I believe that it is time to switch TA's.  There is no such thing as an added charge for a price reduction during wave season.  If you booked ES fare (which it sounds like because she pulled out the $50 penalty), it is not a cancel/rebook, but a price match.

Thank you.  That is just what I thought.

  17. Does RC ever offer the BOGO 2 night dining special on the Mariner of the Seas.  I checked my cruise planner and I see a 3 night dining package for $75 or the Ultimate Dining package for $99.  This is a 4 night cruise and I was hoping for the 2 night package like RC offered on the Harmony.  If anyone has been on the Mariner, do they offer dinner package specials if you sign up on the first day of the cruise.

    Thanks.

  18. Hoping someone can assist me with a price reduction question.  I am booked on the Sunshine sailing in June, did a mock booking and the rate is cheaper.  Usually if there is a price reduction I call my TA and they verify the price with Carnival and I get the reduced price as long as I have not made my final payment.  Yesterday I contacted my TA and she stated that it would cost me $50 per person because the reservation would have to be cancelled and rebooked.  She said that it was a Carnival policy because it is Wave Season.  Obviously I am not going to do that because the price reduction is only $75 and it would cost me $100 per cabin.  BTW, we have a total of 5 rooms booked during this sailing so each room would have to be rebooked.

I'm just wondering if anyone else has every heard of this rule or is it time for me to switch TA's.
