  1. I couldn't turn down 6 day cruise for 477 total for extended balcony plus 150 on board credit. First solo cruise but I had to take it cause it will never happen again at that price.  Was looking for next year for 1500 with hubby but I'm leaving him behind now

Just talked with my clinic.  The antigen test is actually the rapid test.  She said it would take 10-15 minutes to get the results.  The PCR test is the one that takes 48 hours or so.  Carnival says that vaccinated guests may use either the antigen or PCR>

So it's the rapid covid test that takes 15 min and not the antigen test.  I'm confused, Carnival is calling the rapid test antigen?

  3. We want to book 2 cabins, my husband and I both have the RU1 offer and want to take my sister and her boyfriend and have them get free drinks too (first time cruisers).  Does carnival care who's really in the cabins, our reservation will be tried together as I'm booking both cabins together?

Ok... HOW do you move them around?  Seems like you'd be giving the thing a bear-hug to grab it from behind.  No back rails of any kind to grab hold of, either.

The waiter pulled out the chair and pushed the chair in for me. I was a able to push back the chair when getting out, not the easiest but I managed.

Has anyone had any experience with the comfort or practicality of the new high-backed chairs in the dining room?

We sat in those chairs the whole cruise.  They were comfortable but very heavy to move around.

  6. Just got back from doing the atv and jetski tour.  It was a great day, one of best atv tours we have taken so far.  They take you up the rainforest for nice views and then you jetski for a hr. Nice beach and restaurant too.  Tour started at 9am and we were jet skiing by 11:30, stay the rest of the day on the beach till 3

The one theme that is highlighted in all the above is that you are new X cruisers, mainly from Carnival (and I’ve also noticed recently there are numerous posts from NCL crossovers too). Perhaps that’s where the difference lies. Many of the posts you refer to are from long-standing X cruisers and that’s why they see the differences more? It would probably be the same if they were to sail Carnival and read some of the comments on that board from regular Carnival cruisers.

It was perceived that X were after millennials going forward, but perhaps that was wrong and they are actually hitting their target market: crossovers from NCL and Carnival? Just a thought.

I understand that point, my perception before cruising on on Celebrity was that it was geared for the older crowd and not for children.  Since I turned 40 we decided to try this and enjoyed the more relaxing, laid back experience.  It also helped that it was completely revolutionized 😁. Also there was a lot of 30s and 40s that I saw.  I've seen much older crowds on Carnival depending on the the time you travel.

I'm a regular on RCCL, HAL, NCL, MSC,Carnival and X. Celebrity and MSC have by far the most whiners of all the forums I visit. On MSC, it's mostly about customer service, but here everything is fair game. These are the forums of cruise lines I have traveled on or going to be on.

I'm not big on posting on any boards, I come to these forums to learn about what to do while on my next vacation.

Looking forward to hearing your thoughts.  We are sailing in an oceanview room in June.   I think most of the disappointment comes from those in the suite categories, which is understandable at this price point.  We have cruised on the Summit previously twice, and the rooms(especially bathrooms) imo were in serious need of the revolution.  We are looking forward to the new look.

I'm the average cruiser.  We try to cruise twice a year with the kids but could only do that on Carnival so maybe our standards are lower.  Any day I don't have to work, cookand clean is the best vacation for me.  I was celebrating my 40th so we left the kids at home and wanted to try something new and different.  I'm glad we did!

  10. Just got back from Puerto Rico from the Summit, and I loved it.  Reading all the reviews of people complaining is so sad.  Yes there's some issues but you all have to remember you're on vacation, just relax and enjoy yourselves.  Im here at work wishing I can get back on that ship!  I've been on about 15 cruises, mostly on Carnival and first time on Celebrity... wow what a difference. The decor, food and on this ship the singers/entertainment were fantastic.  I've never done a review of a cruise before but I'm thinking about doing one.

Thanks for more pics...How easy has it been to upload and post them?

Some areas like Cafe Baccio seem unchanged other than carpet,  and  new chairs. Decor in  other areas seemd very new and refreshed.

How is the general lighting in the public areas? It  used to feel very dark in some spots.

Is there very much neon looking lighting?  We think it was overdone on EDGE...but did look nice out on the pool deck at night.  .

If you get to any Specialty dining..we would love to see pics and hear about the experience...

    Thanks again!

This is our first Celebrity cruise so it's all new to me, I haven't seen the whole ship yet.  Lighting seems to be nice.  I haven't seen any neon lights yet.  We are heading to Tuscan tonight, I'll take pics and post before sail away at 8:30

Thanks for all the photos (and the "chair review" 🙂 ).  When you have the time and inclination, I'd certainly appreciate your thoughts on the storage (closet space, drawers, etc.), and I'm sure others would as well.  Thanks and enjoy your cruise!

I think there's plenty of storage, I like all the shelves and drawers.  I think it's better than Carnival or Ncl storage.

Many thanks to all the folks who have been posting photos and videos, and to Jim for this thread.

We are booked on the Summit in September, and are looking forward to the "new" decor.  (Our only other M-class experience was on the Infinity in 2013, and she really needed a refresh back then!  🤣 )    As I said in an earlier comment, I do like the new color palette, it's very elegant and (as someone else said) serene.   I have a concern, though, about loss of functionality and surface/storage space (e.g., fewer drawers in the veranda cabins, swapping out a sofa for a sort of big chair, no coffee table), and am looking forward to what folks have to say after actual sailings.

I'm sitting in the comfy chair as I'm writing this!  I like it a lot, yes only one can sit in at a time but I can curl up on it and look out the balcony.  I wouldn't normally do that in cabin furniture but this it's brand new right now 😉
