Totally agree , we try to book times when at least most of the kids are in school, which also saves us money
We feel like that too. Hopefully this cruise won't be too bad and the NYE party will be good. Fingers crossed...

Oh no we're on deck 14 on the Allure on April 2. I picked it because it was the same level as the kids club. Did I do bad? Ocean view Balcony.
We were also on deck 14 last December (room 14177 - right next to the kids club). It worked great for us... just below the pool deck (and the Solarium), where we spent most of our time. We're sailing again on the Allure for NYE and we'll be again on deck 14.

Hi all,
Thanks for taking the time to answer this question. So, in summary, we can expect:
- Increased prices everywhere
- More children
- More drunks
- Non-complimentary parties on NYE
Certainly it doesn't look as good as I thought it would be. Too bad we won't be able to cruise on a different day for at least one more year, so it'll have to work.
Thanks!

We've just booked a cruise on the Allure for December 31th, 2017. This will be our second cruise overall and also the second time on the Allure. So we have this question: besides obviously the price, how is this cruise different than a regular cruise? We do expect some kind of new year party, but don't know if that's it or there's more. Any information on this will be greatly appreciated :D
Thanks!

291 days to our new year cruise on the Allure... couldn't be happier

My GF and I are about 30 and had Chef's Table last December, though on the Allure. All the other people were older (perhaps 40+), but the atmosphere was great and we had a wonderful time. Considering the age difference and that we're not native english speakers, I guess it's more than we could ask for :D

We also had a Central Park view balcony last December on the Allure. The wine was there when the staterooms became available. You do have to make a reservation for Giovanni's. They gave the option of either Giovanni's or Johnny Rocket's, but we chose the former. Please note that you're not having the full menu; just a subset for this offer. It was ok though...

We were on the Allure last December and bought the Surf+Stream package and everything worked fine. Even our mobile company's VoIP app worked fine, so we could our families without using roaming. Latency was around 120-180ms roundtrip to the USA. It may sound like a lot (ok, it is if you compare to a land connection), but a regular satellite connection has a ton more (like > 500ms).

Yes, self-debarkation should be fine for you. Last December we did it and took about 10-15 minutes from the ship to waiting for our ride outside the port. No lines anywhere.

I remember it had a decent salad bar. But not much more. It is certainly most about meat :)

We were on the Allure on December 11-18. Ports of call were Labadee (day 3), Falmouth (day 4) and Cozumel (day 6).
Formal nights were on days 2 and 5.
Love and marriage was on Day 3, Amber Theater, 22:30.
Quest was on Day 5, Studio B, 23:30.
Hope this helps.

There's this really cute little place .. its called something like Wind Jammer (?) ...
And whatever you do, make SURE you go right after you get on board the ship on embarkation day. Hardly anyone knows about this place at all so there will be NO ONE there ..I promise. ;) Best time ever !
The coffee will totally knock your socks off ... and make sure to get one of the burgers. You can't miss them. They're in gigantic steam table pans .... you add your own cold sliced process cheese and toothsome (some people say 'stale') bun.
People are all happy and friendly up there! Theres a little Windjammer game people play where they stand over you with their fully laden trays in hand and glare at you and give you dirty looks as you're eating. Its just a fun little game tho .. so just give them a little giggle, a wave and a wink as you slide by them for one more piece of the jiggly neon pink Jell-O mousse squares and a refill on that tasty coffee.
You'll go back again and again ! Windjammer ... remember that. (But Shhhhh!! ;) )
You're right! We liked it so much that we never ever went back to it :D

We were on the Allure from 11 to 18 and did Chef's Table, Samba Grill, Giovani's Table and Chops Grill. All of them were great, except Giovani's Table, which had a very limited selection for the complementary dinner (food was good though).
I would really recommend Chops Grill (ask to be served by Luis Carmona, great guy!). It was the best, though pricey ($42 pp).
If you're into it, Chef's Table is great. Baba (Somelier, from Turkey) and Romain (Executive Sous Chef, from Jamaica) did a great job and were quite funny! Baba is really passionate about the wines, you'll enjoy it.

I booked from Peru on the US site and the cancellation policy was as described here: full refund up and until the final payment day. After that, there are various percentages and dates (going from 75% to nothing).

It's 70 days away for us on the Allure. Our first cruise ever :D
-
Imagine us with our first cruise ever going on the Allure... we will be totally spoiled :(
-
We got there at 10am. They don't start allowing you to check in until 10:30am.
Thank you! Probably we will also arrive early.
-
Thanks for the review. Really helps us, since we're having our first cruise ever on December :)
At what time did you arrive at the port?
-
Only new packages are now showing for me. I'm sailing on Allure on Dec 11 2016.
-
We were able to buy the Royal Replenish package for our AOTS sailing of Dec 11th 2016. All the other packages show up normally, with their 20% discount.

Wow! Shame on them! If they charge a premium they should deliver a premium.
After all that have been said here, I would book a different date, if I had the chance :loudcry::loudcry::loudcry:
