  1. Just finished with an rep from X. It took about an hour but was able to save 144 dollars on seven excursion for my Dec. 23 cruise. Saved from 10 to 36 dollars on each excursion from the flash sale in May. Did take about 30 minutes to get thru, but always like to try and save for extra martini's for the DW.

  2. 1) Removal of cheesecake form MDR menu and in Cafe Al Baco. Can't eat chocolate, so limited to fewer choices.

    2) Increased pricing of drink packages and having both people having to have same package. Don't drink much other than soda and new non-alcoholic package means at least a six pack a day. (I can do that but DW does not).

    3) If vaping does come back, blah. Will help keep me out.

Well I did notice that the little hut called Crush on the pool deck hasn’t been open at all. Might make the perfect spot 😜

I do hope they will open Crush for during your trip, love most of the cocktails there. GP, is cheesecake still off the daily dessert menu in MDR? Hope not, can not eat chocolate and most desserts are too fancy for me. Thanks for the daily updates.

Thanks to everyone who replied! That is very helpful. I will be looking at using the SNA and LGB airports, really won't consider LAX unless the others do not have decent schedules for us (from Memphis).

    Doug

Last December flew into LAX, lyft driver cost approx. 40 dollars. This year flying into LGB,( don't know how much ride to hotel will be) staying at Doubletree in San Pedro. Your can sign up for the shuttle to cruiseport when you arrive (believe it is a  free shuttle.

  5. Thank you RichYak for posting this. I called X to cancel all my excursions for my 16 night cruise and reordered and saved 350 dollars. Did askd if you could upgrade the drinking package for only $10 a night but somehow got cut off from before the he could answer. Thank you again for posting this.

  6. Hello,

First time SS cruiser here on Spirit in Feb. 22 and have a question about the thermal suites and jacuzzi  in the spa. Do you have to pay to use this area of the ship?  Can not find any info on their website.  Sorry if this has been asked before.

  7. Have done guaranteed twice. For an AQ room last Dec. room assigned after only one day. Did a S1 last May for 10 day Iceland & Ireland cruise and had to wait until six days before cruise before room assignment.

  8. Did this last May on a 10 day Iceland cruise. Upgraded after final payment when suite price went down from 7200pp to 3000. Paid the difference, if it is a guaranteed room, you may be waiting awhile for your room assignment. It was six days before the cruise before we got ours. Enjoy your trip.

  9. It also depends on how you value the actual cost. My wife and I upgraded in May to a S1 suite for $85/day more. That included the tips, valued at $18/day, upgrade to premium package, $12/day, and $250 more OBC from my TA.It was nice to try the suite life and if I can get the right "value" I would do it again. Hope you enjoy your 14 days!!

  10. tinaincc,

Did this in May on the Eclipse. They will assign you a room, you may not get your room number until a couple of days before sailing. Bought our room approx. 70 days before trip. Called X about every ten days to see if room number was assigned, they will tell you no, the revenue department is still working on it, but you will get a SS, most likely a S1 on deck 12. Have a great trip.

Will see you on this trip, hope you bring many sea sick pills. Was on the third Solstice voyage in 2008, wells were very bad, one third of ship did not make it to dinner, but ship did OK though it all ( wife did not, ran into mens room to lose it). We will all still have fun on this trip.

  12. Was also in Dec.16 cruise, was rough for first and last day. Keep your eye on the website every few days. I book the cruise in May, in June the onboard credit deal showed up. Gave them a call and they gave us the credit. Then price went down. Called again, booked trip after price guarantee, but they still gave us more onboard credit. Like 6rugrats, used almost all of it. Get laundry package, worth every penny. Finishing my review yesterday, hope it shows up. Have a great trip

  13. Astalarasta,

The palm island/union island excursion is a 3.5 hour catamaran trip with one hour at Union island, then a one mile trip to Union Island, do not know how long there but I'm guessing only enough time for a swim on the beach or a walk around the 100 acre island. Have fun in Barbadoes, we are also getting there two days early to explore the country.

  14. Astalarasta,

My wife and I are also doing this cruise in December. A couple of ideas for you:

St. Lucia: the water platform will be out (weather permitting) if your mom wants to practice snorkaling, also taking a trip to Soufriere to see the collapsed volcano was fun ( did this ten years ago), the ride was thrilling.

Grenada: if they dock at the main pier, you can take a water taxi to Grand Anse beach, they rent lounge chairs and umbrella and have bar service, The farmers market is great but people on the street will try to give you a tour of the area and ask for some cash for there service.

Tobago Cays: we are doing the Union Island/ Palm Island trip to see the resort. Been wanting to go there for many years.

Hope you and your mother have a great time!
