  1. Does anyone know what happens when the category of stateroom you booked is recategorised.

We booked a B3 balcony which is now categorised as a an A2 concierge do we get concierge benefits or what came with our original booking,I cannot think if some booked it as a concierge they would offer different benefits to different cabins in the same location?

I have asked Oceania but the answer I got didn’t make sense

  2. We went to Rouen by train from Le Havre and it was very easy and much cheaper than an Oceania trip.Just google SNCF for details.

Alternatively Honfleur is lovely and all you do is get a taxi outside the terminal, make sure you book a return trip. The first time we did this we didn’t and had a few anxious moments because we couldn’t find any taxis in Honfleur, but got over it

We are flying from CLT to LHR day before our August departure from Southampton port.  Have hotel reservation in Southampton.  We get into Heathrow around 9 a.m..  Windsor Castle is other option, or just go to Southampton?

We live near Southampton and Salisbury.Stonehenge is not on the way to Southampton but is easily doable,Simply ask your taxi driver to take you via Stonehenge from Heathrow it is about 1.5 to 2 hours to Stonehenge and then about60- 75 minutes to Southampton. If you email me Stuartlake@btinternet.com I can give you 2 taxi companies who would probably do it and you can ask there price. You don’t need a guide

  4. Also if you get the ferry to Hythe you can get a bus tour around the New Forest, they have 3 routes and you can connect to the various routes.Search New Forest bus tours if you’re interested.

How long a train ride from southampton to Bath?  Is the Bath train station centrally located?  We'll be in Southampton for 3 days pre cruise

The average time is 1,5 hours. There are about 30 trains a day.For timetables see GWR or trainline.Bath Spa station is in the centre of town.

  7. We have lived near Southampton for over 40 years There are many things to do.Open top bus tour through the New Forest

Train to Salisbury for cathedral and Wilton House ( in Bridgerton series),Stay on train for Bath

,Look at Exbury Gardens near Southampton. As previous poster said Beaulieu is nice and the motor museum.

Alternatively the ferry to Isle of Wight and Osborne House (Queen Victorias summer house)

You could get train to Weymouth a Victorian town.Or train and bus to Swanage and see Corfe Castle and a ride on a steam train.

  8. We have done 30+ cruises and we always arrive at least one day before with no problems booking our own flights However with Covid there is an advantage with booking with the cruise company if you have to isolate they can help you to reschedule your return flight if you have booked with the airline I am not sure how easy it would be or if an additional cost.We are now reconsidering future cruises and booking flights with the cruise company for piece of mind but it when I have compared prices sometimes the cruise company price is more or sometimes cheaper

  9. I saw on you tube a commentator saying unused onboard spend was carried forward by a future cruise credit. Is this only for travel agent gift or purchased cruise credit or does it now apply to any onboard credit,if so it is a major change as we have always been told the credit had to be spent on the cruise we were on?

  10. We had a Fv on the Silhouette transatlantic, never again as it was at the front and when it was stormy we slept outside guest relations three nights .The waves went underneath then every 5 minutes there was an almighty bang as we went down. When the bow thrusters were used the cabin felt like itwas falling apart!

    I will be following Jim.
Can’t wait for our Mediterranean cruise on Silhouette at the end of July.

I am apprehensive though, as we are visiting both Spain and Italy and going by the TA protocols published last week, there’s a lot of testing required. I really wonder if one of the countries will be dropped, or will Celebrity charge for the onboard testing before the ports.

Or will our 2nd booster which we will be having on 6th April be sufficient? We are eligible for that due to our age, but I’m sure many passengers won’t be and will have had their booster too long ago(270 days for Italy).

Please look at Gov UK if you have had full course plus booster it is valid indefinitely not 270 days

  12. Does anyone know if a UK resident can get an antigen test at either Walgreens or CVS when I go to CVS it recognises we are in UK and I cannot enter their website.

When I go to Walgreens it says I have to provide my state and insurance details can I pay it myself?

If I can get an antigen test any idea of the cost

We are departing San Diego in May

We are considering an NCL cruise from there and wonder if there is an excursion back to Heathrow airport from Southampton that includes a stop in Stonehenge.

We were booked on a Princess cruise in the summer of 2020 from that port that did have that excursion, and it is something we were looking forward to as Stonehenge is still on the bucket list.

We use kevin from kevinclassiccars@ hotmail.com ask for a price probably cheaper than Viator give him disembarkation time and flight time

I've stumbled around various places on the O site and here and not finding what I'm hoping for. A primer perhaps. We don't do escorted tours on the few cruises we've been on but am guessing we may want to on this trip as we've been to very, VERY few of these ports and may not make it back there. We've also never gotten the O-Life package on our one - so far! - O cruise. There's also an "unlimited excursions" for $1429. I'm very interested in making good decisions but just can't figure out where to start. I also see the OE tours which appear to be smaller groups which is appealing. Although the unlimited isn't chump change I'm wondering if it's worth it. I'm not sure that I want to do all the research to organize our own non-O ones. If anyone can guide me in the right direction I would sure appreciate it.

    Thanks,

    Cath

We have been to Baltic three times and Scandinavia and used Alla Tours and they were excellent they are based in St Petersburg but they also do tours in other countries. We were in groups of 8-10 and did 2 days with them in St Petersburg and particularly Faberge museum.A lot cheaper than Oceania and we could not fault them

I would certainly go direct to Southampton because there is nothing more worrying than to be anxious to be on time and there is little to do around Heathrow. There is more to do in Southampton if you are not to tired.
We always use Kevin.  kevinclassiccabs@hotmail.com cell 447780578717 he has several vehicles including a Mercedes and a Mondeo which we prefer because of the size and the huge trunk. He will charge about 130£ each way.You could ask if he would take you to Stonehenge on the way but you would have to check if it would be open when be open when you get there.

If you want somewhere to stay Holiday Inn is right next to the port but depending on who you are cruising with you might need a very short taxi ride.

We have used Premier Inn several times and they have a new hotel at West Quay right next to a big shopping mall, they do a good meal deal for 28£ each you get dinner with a glass of wine and a good breakfast. This is almost as near as Holiday Inn

If you have the energy after your flight you could do a quick trip to the Isle of Wight on the high speed ferry which is about half a mile from either hotel or hop across the Solent to Hythe

If you want something unusual try the Pig in the wall Southampton

Hello lovetravel63-65,Southampton, I am booked on a cruise next July.  Since you live near Southampton, I was wondering if you would provide information that will help me make a few decisions.  We will arrive at Heathrow on July 7 around 4 pm for a July 8th cruise out of Southampton. Do you think it best to stay overnight in a hotel near Heathrow or go directly to Southampton and stay overnight there?  Are you aware of any transfer companies that will take me from Heathrow to Southampton?  Thank you in advance for any information you may provide.
