Googling “cayman private driver” came up with many useful links, including this one:
http://www.majestictours.ky/mobile/tours
We’ve never used them, but we see their vans and buses around a lot.
You can also ask at the port when you arrive. Many of the taxi drivers would be happy to be your driver for the day, for the right price...
Thank you! We are going to rent a car - my husband and I were married on Cayman in 1998 - WOWZERS! - frequent it often - I was nervous b/c he always drives and it will be just me and our 12 y/o daughter. He talked me into it - keep shoulder to ditch! Those traffic circles though - whew..hopefully we can follow someone! ;)

Hi -
Has anyone ever used a personal driver on the island? Would like to have for 3 - 4 hours on the island.
Thanks! Heather

Hi! I’m taking our 13 y/o daughter on a mom/daughter trip - this is one of our ports of call - any suggestions on excursions? We like to do pretty much anything - but haven’t found a great excursion we are really excited about!
Thanks so much! Heather

I was going to say the same as pmcue, but hesitated. We did this in Acapulco years ago, before the media made people aware of the effect on the dolphins.
I admit that it was a wonderful, exciting and educational experience. I also admit that, with the hindsight of additional knowledge, it's something that we deeply regret supporting with our dollars.
Thank you - we are opting for another excursion. :)

IMO dont do it. https://www.thedodo.com/swim-dolphins-caribbean-1094674999.html

Thanks for this - this was my #1 concern...and wanted to do research before committing. Hate to see animals - unless they are rescue - contained for no other reason than human entertainment.
Appreciate the link!

Thank you all!! Please do report back - we will wait until arriving in port to book! Appreciate it! :D

Hi - has anyone ever been on this excursion - if so..feedback/opinions? Thank you!!

Too freaking funny!!

We have sailed both Celebrity and Royal Caribbean with our 13 y/o. Royal definitely has more activities for kids - rock walls, knee boarding, zip line..etc. That being said she spent most of her time hanging with other kids or swimming in the pool - your son will get to meet other kiddos during the summer months on Celebrity (more kids onboard). I think it's also what is important to you - the food on Celebrity is so much better (my opinion) and the vibe is more luxury/relaxing (also my opinion).
At the end of the day - our 13 y/o is just excited to go on vacation and island hop! :)
Good luck!

No worries! Guys - thanks for the additional information - love this board! I wanted to go to the specialty restaurants a couple of $50 for my 12 y/o that will eat $10 worth ;)
Thanks again!

Great - thanks so much for the information!

Great - Thanks for the quick response! :D

Hi -
I am taking my 12 y/o daughter on a girl's trip/cruise. Can we book specialty dining ahead of sail date and if so would she be charged the same price as an adult?
Thanks in advance!
-
Great - thank you! Is that gratuities just for drinks or for the entire trip?
-
Hi fellow cruisers - I'm trying to figure out our booking charges. Celebrity is closed at the moment. :)
Does anyone know what these are? Thanks!
YEF5-BEVCLINGRAT - $385
YEJ1-BEVNAINGRAT - $126

Hi!
We have always rented a car and will be using a taxi when on a cruise this Summer. I have no idea how much they cost - can someone tell me appropriate price from cruise port to Grand Ole House and from Grand Ole House to Turtle Farm?
Thanks so much!!!
-
Awesome feedback guys!! I think we’ll do GOH first by taxi and then taxi to Turtle Farm and bus the rest - I would rent a car if comfortable driving on the other side of the road!
Thanks so much!!

Hi -
We are in port from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and would love insights on the best way to arrange our day and transportation. We want to visit all of the places above - no particular order.
Does anyone have any advice on transportation?
My husband and I were married at the Grand Ole House 20 years ago this July - I'm taking our daughter on a girl's trip to show her where it all started. Can't wait to share one of our favorite islands! :)
Thanks in advance!

Hi -
We are traveling with our 11 year old and want to be able to keep in contact with her while on the ship. I've heard of Dect phones - are these still available on the Oasis of the Seas? What other methods have you used to keep in contact?
Thank you!

Hi -
I read a lot of posts about the Kids Club prior to our cruise and thought I'd add another thread - we have one daughter who is 9. She is an only child - pretty mature for her age - and goes with the flow.
We bought the VIP pass ($90) which gave us free hours b/w the hours of 10 and 1 am ($6 an hour otherwise), a back pack with some cool stuff she *kind of* liked (blow up pool ball, slap wrist watch, frisbee), a bridge tour, and a backstage tour - including dancers/singers/costumes..etc.
The good:
The activities were very well organized and fun - scavenger hunts in groups through-out the ship, games, talent shows, crafts. The counselors were great and very patient (I saw an altercation with 17 year old very immature boys running through the "kid" side and the counselor handled the situation very well!)
The "flip-side" --
Based on our own "individual" experience - our daughter is an only child - she enjoyed hanging out with us - having the run of the ship (again - very mature and checked in every 20 minutes)..made friends in the pool..etc. We rarely used the Fun Factory because of this. She called it "daycare" from day 1 - I would have loved it at her age - her..not so much. We did use the late night service twice - have to have some mom/dad time! She was fine - watched movies. The bridge tour was the morning of one day in port - we had already planned an excursion so she was unable to go - bummer!
All in all - would not pay for the VIP pack - but from my observations they have a fantastic program, fun stuff to do, and great folks to lead the kids!
-
Just off the Silhouette and thought I'd share my observations about topics I read/noticed prior to departure..
Fresh OJ - They do not make it at the bars/cafe anymore - however I asked and the machines are in the back and what you are served is the same. Confirmed by the taste/texture - best OJ I've had.
Flowers - We booked a concierge class and no...there are no longer flowers in the cabins. Nice touch - which was missed.
Chocolates - On our pillows every night..along with a character towel for our 9 y/o. My daughter asked our cabin attendant if he could make a Mermaid and sure enough the next day it was on her bed! :)
