When we walked out of the theater, Times Square was lit. The streets were charged up with activity. It was like Vegas, but in a scary, “Don’t let the smooth taste fool you” sorta way. For some reason, the quote from Elf,  “It’s just like Santa’s workshop, except it smells like mushrooms and everyone looks like they want to hurt me”, when Buddy was describing the mailroom, was living rent free on a loop in my brain that whole day. Go figure.

On our walk back, we stopped at a bodega to get water, then I saw a pastry shop that I had to go into. This strawberry tart in the window was calling my name,  and I had to answer. I don’t quite know what it was, but it looked outstanding, like it could solve all of my problems, fix the chip in my tooth, potty train a pigeon, and ensure all of my direct reports complete their timesheets every week without having to be reminded. I ran inside and practically begged the guy behind the counter to put that dessert in my life.

I got my dessert wrapped up to go (almost everything is to go in NYC)  then W wanted to go into 7-11 so we did that. There was some guy just standing there talking to himself, rapping, and blocking the door so we had to yell at him to move so we could get in the store. Then we had to yell at him again when we wanted to get out. It’s acceptable to yell at people in NYC. Awkward.

Finally, we went back to the hotel and moved around in our room until it was time for bed.

Before I fell asleep I said a prayer thanking God for that strawberry tart. Mostly I thanked God that I could not just walk around getting one of those in GA (that I’m aware of). That thing was dangerous and should’ve come with a caution or something like Warning: Consuming this dessert will cause big backs and buckled knees. Your thighs will never divorce each other.  Shame will be your middle name. Now put down the strawberry tart and walk away. Thank you.

I’m going leave my mom hat on for a second and maybe be a Karen but the last thing you want to hear from your kids after spending thousands of dollars is “worst day ever” “unhappy day at coco cay” and “wish we had stayed home”

So sorry, worst feeling ever when your children are sad and disappointed.

Awww..thanks!  Please tell him Patricia and Bucky from last week misses him!!   And he makes a great Espresso Martini!!  😉 🥰  Though my usual "go to" drink is Kim Crawford Sauvignon Blanc.  He kept my glass full at all times!  😄

My friend and I love our Kimmy as well!

We're in the same position! We're driving from VA's Shenandoah Valley (which is about an equidistance from Baltimore and Norfolk.)  We have the drive to Baltimore on the 5th, with a Park and Fly hotel deal, a flight on the 6th to Tampa, and concerns about getting back to our vehicle if we go to Norfolk.  I keep telling myself, "one day at a time"...

The most important concern is for the loss of life and the economic impact on Baltimore and the surrounding areas, as well as the supply chain issues. But that doesn't stop my anxiety over plans and arrangements. 😟

Last night, we reserved a car from Norfolk airport to be dropped off at BWI if necessary. Did make sure that we can cancel the reservation if needed. Figure that covers getting back at least to Baltimore.

  5. I feel that those of us on the repositioning cruise are really in flux. We are driving to Baltimore on April 5, flying to Tampa on April 6, then supposedly returning to Baltimore on April 21, where we would get our car and drive home. If I have to change any of those arrangements I hope Carnival lets us know soon. Unfortunately, I changed our hotel booking to non refundable only a few days ago in Baltimore…of course I did! Add to this stress is the sadness over the loss of life from the bridge and I find myself just spinning in circles.

I’m not sure that I’ll ever understand this program. I used to be Prime tier and had free drinks in the casino. Now, I’m listed as Choice with 1,300 points and my husband is Prime. I guess my question is can I change my status gambling on my May cruise, or will I have to wait till the program resets again?

Alternately, is there a number of points that you can gamble to reach free drinks like on Carnival?

    Thanks,

    Maryann

  8. I will be living vicariously thru you and the other live posters until my February 23 cruise.  We took 5 months off from cruising for lots of family stuff, sons wedding, 2nd reception in California, Christmas, grand daughters 3rd birthday…I’m exhausted! Like you we are disappointed in Carnival recently but hope the break will help with our perceptions. Hope you all have a blast!

    cheers,

    Maryann

  9. For any Carnival comedy buffs out there, the comedian known as Geechy guy passed away yesterday in his sleep at the age of 59.
We had just had the pleasure of seeing him last month on the Magic and he was truly one of a kind. I know he’s entertaining at the comedy club in the sky, but definitely gone too soon.
