  1. I've never no-showed, but I think their policy is if your ship arrives in Coz they expect you to show and will charge you accordingly. Otherwise they may have turned others away who would be willing to pay and they are losing $$

Never seen it rain in Coz for more than about 10-15 minutes unless there is a large storm (in which case you will likely not port there). Hope you have a great day at Nachi! :)

    Thanks John.

Hoping the weather holds out but the forecast isn't looking favorable.

If push comes to shove we'll just sit in the restaurant and I'll try to drink $55 worth of drinks:p

  2. Just wanting to confirm this with anyone who has no-showed RECENTLY at Nachi Cocom.

We are booked on BotS for the Christmas cruise and will be in Cozumel on the 26th. I reserved four spots at Nachi. Of course I understand that there are no refunds for the deposit ($44). No big deal. However if it rains heavy enough and we decide NOT to go will Nachi hit up my credit card for the remaining $176?

The policy on the website says it will BUT I've heard on these here boards that they don't. So please answer only if you know for sure.

  3. There are 5 ships in port on Christmas Day. I'd be very surprised if major stores, port shops, beach bars, larger Plaza restaurants or ship excursion providers are shut down. Smaller shops, bars and loncherias or deep in town shops and restaurants may be closed, though.

QUESTION: how do you find out how many ships will be in port? Is there a website? We will be in Cozumel the day after Christmas.

  4. This is great info for our Oct 17 Freedom cruise, thanks all! I have a couple questions- I see in boogerwolf's review from Oct 2013 that there are lounge chairs under umbrellas. Do the lounge chairs cost anything or are they first come first served? Thanks!

IF you are referring to the two lounge chairs under that straw umbrella in that picture showing my feet, I believe those are for the cabanette renters.

The area where the cabanettes are on the other side of the island thus seperated from what I call "gen pop". So those using the cabanettes are usually the only ones using that stretch of beach (save for those walking thru on the shoreline).

  5. Hey gram2kids.

My wife and I rented a cabanette on our cruise a couple of years ago (EotS).

It was the best $50 I've spent.

What did we get for that paltry sum?

-A spot away from the herd

    -Your own attendant and bar

    -Two lounge chairs

    -A bowl of fresh fruit

    -Two bottles of water

-No having to shlep towels to and from the ship because towels are provided

    -Floats

-And of course, the clamshell cabanette

Doing my research initially it looked small and cheesy. But the cabanette does accommodate two people very well. And can be flipped forward some to shield you from the sun if so desired.

We did get a golf cart ride to and from the site and to and from the barbecue. Again, it's been a couple of years so things may have changed but I still think it's well worth it. Here is a review from our cruise that has pictures of the cabanette:

  6. Thanks for the great review. I didn't know about the cabanettes. I'll get straight to the point--is a bathroom nearby or do you have to walk/catch a ride back?

Also if you go back to Nassau, check out the Fish Fry area. It consists of 25 or so local restaurants serving local seafood. Any cab driver can take you there--it's about $10 each way for two. The restaurants are open all day.

Lol, yeah, unfortunately you'll have to catch a ride to the restroom.

And will-do on the Fish Fry.

  7. I always tell friends to go with an open mind and go with the flow attitude. Don't try to plan every minute of the day. Most of all disconnect from the world it is so freeing to not have cell phones, lap tops, Ipads and just relax and enjoy.

It is surprising how many people have a hard time unplugging for a few days.

Great advice. Just got back from our first cruise and it was liberating not to have to carry an iPhone, wallet and keys. Just my SeaPass card and a little cash.

  8. If you're thinking NYE this year, it's going to terribly pricey. The holiday cruises are really at premium prices ... even when you book over a year in advance. We booked a mid-December cruise in late May out of Baltimore and the price has climbed considerably from the time we booked. It's been sold out for some time now, and the cost of the occasional cabin that pops up due to a cancellation is outrageous.

A cursory check after reading this confirms this. Wow! They really do jack up the price.

  9. Never fear. Mark has been with RCI for nearly 20 years. This is a normal crew rotation. Here is a quote from the CC website: "Enchantment OTS - Marc Walker from June 7 through Nov. 8, then John Blair from November 8 through January 8, then Marc Walker returns on January 8 for approx. 4 months, followed by John Blair for approx. 2 months."

Cool. Wouldn't want future cruisers to miss that dude.

  10. Loved your review! As someone who was on EOS as her first cruise, this reminded me of some of things I didn't include in mine! I laughed at your picture with the caption "2500 of our closest friends". I agree that the breakfast in bed isn't that great :p. And we also sent out our clothes on the first day to get dry cleaned! Imagine that haha. Great minds and all :)

And your review was great too.

  11. It's good to hear that you enjoyed your first cruise. Do you know how far the cabanette area is from the water park on coco cay?

I do not know how far it is from the water park but from the dock and info booth it's more than you want to walk carrying a bag.

Molly, the tram driver, is there to drive you to and from the cabanettes. You are his priority. When it was time for the BBQ lunch Linda radioed him for a pick up. He also brought us back. You can leave your stuff there as Linda keeps an eye on it.

I'm sorry I wish I knew the answer to your question. We didn't explore the island after we got where we were.
