Just be aware, if you aren't already, that between cameras and the bridge wings, almost every outdoor spot on the ship is visible to someone. I personally don't go out on the balcony without at least swim trunks on. I guess I don't want to end up naked on some "cruisers gone wild" sort of video ;).
I will keep that in mind, but as a lifelong nudist, it will be hard to turn down an opportunity to just lounge quietly by myself au naturel.

Thanks for the feedback! Just knowing that there is a lounge chair on the verandah makes it sound larger than the balcony on the last NCL cruise I took, and sounds fantastic for relaxing. As far as privacy goes, the pics make it look very private, so if my neighbors go to the effort of peeking around the partition and see me lounging naked, that's their problem! :)

Any feedback on the verandahs / balconies on the HAL Veendam? Are they large enough to lounge on? And are they private?

Gay man traveling solo on the Holland America Veendam out of San Diego on March 7, 2015. Would be nice to meet other solo travelers for meals or excursions, or just hanging out. Hit me up, thanks!

I have never minded traveling alone. In fact, I think it can be quite relaxing and enjoyable to be able to do what you want, when you want to do it, and not have to worry about anyone else. Plus, on a cruise, it's easy to meet other people if you want or to be alone if you want.
I am also a writer, so traveling alone on a cruise provides an nice escape with plenty of opportunities to write. I get great ideas when it's just me and my laptop on a cruise ship balcony, staring at the ocean.

Looking forward to the March 7 sailing from San Diego on the Holland America Veendam. Traveling solo and looking forward to meeting other LGBT travelers on this cruise.

I'll be on the NCL Dawn leaving Tampa on 1/19/14. Any suggestions on places to go on that itinerary?

I've only cruised solo, and it's always been a wonderful experience. People on board are usually incredibly friendly, so it's easy to make new friends, but you can also be by yourself when you want to. Best of both worlds! People should never be afraid to cruise solo, it's a fun adventure!

I've never understood why people have a problem with a man in a speedo. I may not have the hottest body, but I'm 100 percent comfortable in a speedo - and I'll be wearing one on the NCL Dawn leaving 1/19/14, so look for me there!

"Cabin fever" on 15-day cruise?
in Princess Cruises
Posted
This may seem like a random question, but has anyone experienced "cabin fever" or general restlessness/boredom/frustration on longer cruises?
I am thinking of taking a 15-day cruise from LA to Hawaii on the Grand Princess in February (last minute vacation), but I've never taken a cruise this long before. I've only been on week-long cruises before, and by the end of them, I was always very ready to be home. And I could only get an interior cabin, so that adds to the potential feeling of confinement.
Does anyone else ever get tired of the small cabins, the food options, the entertainment, etc., on longer cruises? Or is it just me? :) I am hoping that having so many days at sea going to and from Hawaii - and seeing the islands themselves - will help me overcome my cabin fever.
Any thoughts or suggestions? Thanks!
