If anyone has tried those helium pods from Amazon, please post a review. I've heard that they really lighten the luggage.

Its a great ship. We have been on her 3 times. Really nice layout, good size (big, not too big). Get to the seafood shack before the rest of the ship knows its exists (ie after the first couple days). Enjoy!
I am excited about the LOBSTAH ROLL!!!

Go to Nevis. If you are lucky you may get a taxi ride from a super guy named John. Go to Turtle Time. Get a chair on the beach and enjoy the great food they have to offer. Best time ever!!!

On the Freedom now. We're heading to New Orleans for provisions then heading back out to wait to get in to Galveston. Sounds like we will be in New Orleans tomorrow afternoon.

I imagine Carnival has said provisions en route to NOLA as we speak. It will basically be a touch and go. The incredible logistics and efficiency that cruise lines accomplish is truly amazing when you stop and think about it! I went to an airshow recently. The lines through security, the general handling of people was in complete disarray. It made me stop and think that maybe the USAF should have called in a cruise line to handle it for them. The last time I cruised out of Ft Lauderdale, there were several ships in port and departing that day. I estimated that there was about 15,000-20,000 disembarking and then another 15,000-20,000 embarking that same day. We had 0 issues getting through. EZPZ

As of today 8/25 (Friday) Calling for 36' rain in Galveston, a Hurricane tomorrow morning and then the thing goes back out to sea and regenerates and comes back around Wed. In 2009 a lot of cruisers lost their cars. If it was me I'd stay away from Galveston but I doubt the ships will be able to dock anyway until late next week.
36' ??? Holy ****!!!! This just got biblical!

Speaking of marine traffic... look at all the traffic around Galveston!

Just returned yesterday from Liberty. Took two grandkids ages 10 ( girl ) and 8 ( boy ). They had a blast. Cruise director " donkey " is very entertaining. :)
Did they do the kids camp stuff? If so, how was it?

Here's one.

It sounds like you're downplaying this which is nothing short of dangerous.
I am fearing the same thing. I had the same feeling about New Orleans as I was evacuating St George, Fl during Katrina. Watching the news no one seemed too concerned. Days ahead of landfall we were all saying that it had been too long since NOLA had experienced a real hurricane. Same here.

It was a couple years ago but we had to go around the ship and take pictures of things from a list. We won a ship on a stick for getting back with the most pictures. It was a lot of fun.

Oh ok! So it was a cruise sanctioned scavenger hunt. I know they would enjoy that!

Here's a different compliment: thanks for putting the date after your thread title: "Just Off Liberty today (August24) " That makes sifting through the " just off the ___ " threads much easier to identify truly recent reviews. More people should follow your example.
Glad you had a relaxing cruise.
I wish this site had "like" or "upvotes".

Liberty was our first cruise. My son was 5. He enjoyed it. We found enough to do without a waterworks. We have since done two more and have 3 booked. Liberty is what got us hooked on cruising. There is a water slide. And mini golf. The kids club had lots of stuff to do. Last day we did the family scavenger hunt and had a lot of fun. Enjoy your cruise.

I'd be interested to hear more about this scavenger hunt. I think our kids would love that!

You will be boarding the day I get off Liberty! I will keep her in good shape for you. I hope you have as nice a time on your cruise as I plan to have on mine !
Nice! Same to you!

Which ships would this be? The water from the sinks and showers is the same water as used in dining venues, bars, and the galleys. It is potable water, and completely safe to drink.
I've been drinking ship's water from the sink for 42 years, a minimum of six months a year, and never had a problem with it. What are the dangers?
I'm sure its fine. On RCCL we were told not to. I have heard that it isn't the purity of the water its the piping (the time it spends at unsafe temps). I just take their word for it and sterilize my drinks with alcohol.

I am going on this ship in a month or so. I have never cruised with Carnival but I too have read many reviews on the ship. I like to keep in mind that:
A. Some people are insufferable and can't relax and enjoy themselves even on a cruise ship.
B. Most people writing the reviews are motivated by a negative experience (by no means am I saying all). Most of the middle of the road cruisers aren't commenting at all.
