  1. Thrilled to hear that RCI is not allowing people to "reserve" the prime loungers on the lido deck. That drove me nuts on my first two cruises with Carnival. But that brings up a couple other questions that I hadn't thought about before. Maybe somebody here would be more familiar with these scenarios than me?

    1) OP states that RCI went around and collected all the towels that were reserving seats. Assuming these are the towels provided in cabin, I don't imagine RCI has anyway of keeping track of who's towel they just picked up on the lido deck. How is this sorted out? Would RCI be forced to charge the stateroom for a missing towel at the end of the cruise (seems extreme)? Or do they simply trust that people are telling the truth when they say "Hey I left my towel there an hour ago and now it's gone, can I have it back?" (seems like a poor way to handle things, easily abused).

    2) On Carnival we were permitted to take the towels provided in cabin off the ship at our various destinations. If it was not in the cabin at the end of the cruise then we were simply charged the outrageous price for a replacement. I assume this to be cruise industry standard, but wanted to check with y'all before I do something stupid.

    3) Seems perfectly reasonable to reserve lounge chairs for short periods of time for the sake of getting a refill, using the restroom, etc. Does RCI have a typical timeframe for how long things go unattended before they pick stuff up? Or is this left up to the worker's discretion?

There are towels for your cabin, which are white, and there are towels for beach/pool use that can come on and off the ship. RCL reccently lifted the policy that they would charge you if you did not return your beach/pool towel so when they take the towels off chairs, nobody gets charged they just go get a new towel from the stand.

  2. 7/10 people who complain write a review about it.

2/10 people who have compliments write a review about it.

Based on these statistics you can never take into account how many bad reviews vs. good reviews anything has because a bad experience is more likely to surface than a good one.

And if you think about it, if you are happy with everything are you likely to announce it to the world?....maybe....but most who are unhappy want to tell everyone and their mom about it.

I would take reviews for their pure information and not let it effect your decision

  3. No, she drank to much, probably climbed on the railing drunk and slipped and fell.

I can understand 90 minutes may seem long but consider that first they had to have a report that someone went overboard, confirm when and where they went overboard and then turn that massive ship around and locate a tiny person, in the dark, in the middle of the ocean. 90 minutes sounds pretty quick response to me.

This would be warranted say maybe the railing broke and she fell overboard, or maybe there was so type of other equipment failure that caused it, but she drank, obviously climbed up the railing and slipped.

  4. I just had a price drop applied like this.

I had a savings certificate from back on July I believe, and last week the price dropped 180- a person and I got the full 360 refund in my bank account, so they let me keep my savings certificate from another quarter(and I checked, there is no longer a certificate for this cruise in this quarter) and get the price reduction.

So if you are in this situation, you have a good chance of getting both.

I sail on Jewel in march 2014.

  5. Last year in March we rented a car when we came in on Navigator. There were 3 rental companies right before you walk out of the pier gates to the street. My recommendation is DO NOT use Target rental, we had three of thier cars break on us in one day and had to switch each one out, budget rental has a desk right next door and for 10 bucks more I think you will be happier with a big name rental company that would have cars in better working order.

  6. The Falmouth port area is nice and safe, However the area just outside the Royal Caribbean owned port area is sketchy. I was there back in march on the Navigator and while we enjoyed our time, you definatly have to leave the area directly outside the port.

It is worth a stop for the food and culture, but you may want to do somethig RC run or take a cab to montego bay or somewhere more developed.

  7. We were on almost the same itinerary on Adventure almost 2 years ago and in St. Croix we did an ATV adventure. Was fun and saw some fantastic views along with the back road and off road sites including an old mill. The name escapes me but I can easily get it if you are interested. Their store was only 2 blocks from the port and we had reserved online.

I would love to get that information, we did an ATV tour in Jamacia and loved it!

  8. Taking a cruise mid March 14' and it is a port intensive cruise. itinerary as follows:

    Start in Home Port(San Jaun)

    Charlotte Amailie, St. Thomas

    St. Croix, US Virgin Islands

    St. Johns, Antigua

    Fort De France, Martinique

    Catries, St. Lucia

    Sea Day

    Back in home port(San Jaun)

My GF and I like chilling in the whirlpools onboard and havent found much to do in St. Croix other than a ship excursion to Freseriksted. It is a 3.5 hour catamaran sail with food and drinks included for 80 US a person.

Would we be better off taking the day to utilize the whirlpool while everyone else is in port or should we spend the extra money?

    Other activity suggestions?

    Skip another port instead?

    Any feedback welcome.

  9. I like how this guy has disappeared after being called on his "people of large structure" comment. I like how he was so quick to judge people weight and not want anyone to be offended, but I guarantee if someone wrote a similar review talking about how "people of homosexual orientation are hard on the eyes" he would be the first person in line ripping that person for hate comments.

For the record, for everyone reading this thread. We are all here because we love cruising, and it is wrong for anyone, based on their looks, sexual preferences, or any other qualifier of their individuality should be allowed to enjoy a cruise like anyone else and not be judged by guys like this.

theOSU1, stay off these boards unless you can be kind to all. I recommend you come back on here and apologize for your comments.

I hope everyone enjoys their next cruise!
