Great videos and tips. I just got my Hero 5 Black the other day and can't wait to really use it.
Once you start filming and see how clear the clips are, you will be hooked, just like cruising!.
-
Looks good to me!
The more you practice the better you will get, the better you get will inspire more confidence and creativity.
Keep up the good work! :)
We are leaving for our next cruise at the beginning of July and I will be making another GoPro video. Feel free to subscribe to my channel if you want to be notified once its uploaded. https://www.youtube.com/user/Chesneygirl100
Thanks, hope you have a great cruise.

Thank's for your comments. Yes, the GoPro logo was from a friend and I I thought I would experiment a bit. The rafting shot took a while to film, I waited nearly twenty minutes before it came out, so I ended up with a very large clip to edit. Sounds like you have all the gear.

Practicing hard the last few months on the hero 5 getting ready for the end of year cruise, managed to get something together, in imovie, bit rusty not that great but still learning and not sure if I loaded it properly on you-tube. Will get a Karma Grip very soon.

Hi, I uploaded a short Go-pro movie filmed in 2.7K to my account on you-tube with the hope that I can then place a link here on CC. Unfortunately the quality of the upload has not come out very good, as the original is perfect. Have I missed a special setting or got it wrong when I uploaded it?.

We ourselves have never bothered with a pub lunch, mainly because we have 2 or 3 a month on land. So would be interested to hear if the PL is good, average or poor onboard?.

I didn't post here to get into an argument over appraised values etc. art is subjective, one appraiser will value it at one price, another something different. There is no active market place to obtain a reliable valuation like there is for gemstones, currency etc.
I made my post to bring a different view point to everyone else that is quick accuse Park West of deceptive practices, I am happy with my purchases and I never felt deceived at any point in the process. Also, the frames on pieces of art we purchased would have cost more on land at home than I paid for the entire piece, this bit of research I did do.
As I said in my prior post, there very well could be individuals that work for Park West that are dishonest, just like any company any where, and those people should be held accountable. But if there were widespread fraud by the company they wouldn't be in business and certainly Princess wouldn't still contract with them.
All the more reason to stay well clear of the whole thing.

People buy, nothing comes, months and months go by, you need to avoid it like the plague.

No surprises there!

FYI - I found this inexpensive little carry case for all my go pro accessories and it has worked out great. I keep my little compartment door safely put away inside this little carry case. GoPro makes one of these as well but its way more costly.

I manged to get a cheap similar bag here in NZ. Love my Hero, been so busy and there have been a few wild storms lately with TC Cook, heading our way before Easter, just what we need as we have had three months worth of rain in just 2 weeks. I have still managed to get enough clips to work with, and are currently putting a final test movie together.
Have a great Easter.

One does wonder why a cruise ship as beautiful and popular as the Royal, would fail baldly in dining, the most important department you can get on a ship. I find it very hard to believe but if this is true, then maybe heads should roll. I remember a CC member recently saying the food was bad for half the cruise, then they changed the head chef.
-
When you used the GoPro Jaws setup, did you have the GoPro in the Grip? They definitely didn't make it easy to quickly switch setups. Having the remove the compartment door for the hookups is definitely a design flaw.
I found the same problem and after contacting the supplier, they advised to either WiFi to my Mac or remove the detachable door so as to avoid removing the Hero from the frame all the time. They did warn that when you detach the door, your Hero is no longer waterproof and that is why they decided not to allow the door to be removed without removing the Hero from frame.

Well that's nice, we can now carry on with what we were doing.:*

It happens! I try not to watch, and move on to enjoy my cruise.

We found Princess food to be of very high standard. Yes it is different and subjective and others may feel that it is not, but we generally find that many of the newer land based restaurants are too Artie! all covered in "rocket" with too many flavours killing your fish or steak. That is why we look so forward to a wide choice of menus and have always found somewhere in the dining rooms, buffet and specialties a "Something Different" aspect to look forward to on our next cruise. Sometimes we have all appetizers and have no trouble sending a plate back if feel that we would like something else.:):)

Thank you for the time you put into your review, it was professional, hilarious and very addictive. More Please.;)(y)

the new gopro 5 hero is waterproof, no case needed.
I have just bought a 5 Hero, used it a fair bit but haven't taken it underwater yet. It does say that it is OK for 10m.
-
I have an Olympus TG4. It hasn't been underwater as yet. How can I check if it is really waterproof before we do our next cruise.
I hear where you are coming from. I have just recently bought a Go-pro Hero Black OK for 10m in water, and are still a bit apprehensive to take it underwater

It may come as a surprise to you, but the staff do get some time off to relax, and like you and me, do not wear uniforms when they are doing so. Just like us, they wear causal clothing. Being crew members, they know how to handle themselves on a ship. I watched the video of the departure. Eventually one man and one woman were indeed sitting on the railing, and another man had one leg over it while standing behind it. The rest were standing behind the railing. But, if you look at the attached photo, you will see that they are not anywhere close to the edge of the ship. They are standing at the railing in front of the pool, with several feet of deck space between them and a short wall structure that walls off the recreational area. And even that short wall is several feet from the edge. Now that you see where they were standing, you might want to give up your argument that these are passengers that have sneaked out to the very front edge of the ship and are doing something dangerous and that security is not very good at their jobs.
Yes, Yes, We can all see that now, but why the seriousness, the Op was only trying to bring it to our attention. Maybe you should tell the staff off then.:D:D:D
-
Well done OP!
There should be more threads like this:):):)

Steak in MDR wasn't worth ordering. Princess doesn't seem to understand beef very well. Of course preparing steak for a bazillion diners isn't going to be a winning proposition anyway. Steak should be cooked individually to order and served immediately. If you want steak go to Crown Grill.
Absolutely correct, At least you get a good one and sometimes I have been given a Lobster on the side.

Thank's a lot for your tips and advice. As you said, your cruise video (Fabulous) was 2.7K/60, I will stick to that for now . I have been busy this weekend checking out the iMovie tutorials. By the time I get to cruise time later this year, I should be ready to go.:)(y)
What do you use to take pictures on your cruise and why

I've used several versions of Canon including powershot's over the years, have thousands of photos and several cruise movies in the last 8 years. I have now started learning video editing again and are in the process of putting together a few past videos.
My next cruise later this year, I have decided to take only my new Go-Pro Hero 5 along and see what happens. After seeing other peoples great Go-Pro video's, I just had to get one and It's lite, easy to use, full of fun options and most of all waterproof 10m. I am pleased with some of the learning clips I have done so far and found that not having a zoom is not the end of the world.
