  1. Nobody wants to see me sashay! :) I personally wouldn't spend my time looking for flowers in Miami or the Caribbean. However, if they offered an option to deliver flowers to my stateroom on embarkation day, I would likely partake.

Same here, plus I want it to be a surprise. I don't think I could hide flowers in my bag haha.

  2. What were those bulbs? Just lighting or did they have another purpose?

Were you waiting for them to pay for your bag or what kind of repair would have you been satisfied with?

  3. Mine wont accept my booking number. The website does not either

The US website won´t take my booking number but the app does. If I log in to the Mexico website (I live here) it takes the number but won´t send my tickets, I´m sailing in almost a month.

BTW which part of STL are you? Just curious. I lived in Ballwin a few years ago.

  4. Do you guys have the new iOS? That might be the problem. I have the 10 still and the app works - almost- fine. Its a bit slow, but no real issues. I have not done the update cause there are always issues with new iOS, always wait a few months when its running fine.

  5. Their non-US sites definitely are having issues. I don’t think it’s accurate to characterize all of their sites as problematic, I haven’t had any trouble with mine. And I’m based in the US. As a fellow control freak, though, I sympathize!

Thats the thing, I just can´t even log in to the US site, maybe I´m not good enough for it since I´m in Mexico LOL. But in all honesty the US site looks so much better and more complete. I have only sailed NCL and RCCL before, and never had a single issue on their websites. Hope they get it together as it´s getting frustrating.

I kinda understand they dont invest as much - or care enough- for other websites in America as they do for they US as thats the market they are trying to get. But if their site for my country won´t work properly, I would at least expect and very much like to be able to log in to the US one. Oh well.

  6. Presumably you mean it wll be better simply because you're on the ship. It's that's not what you meant, then I can assure you that it's not true for Celebrity and Royal.

Thats just what I meant. Havent sailed Celebrity but Royal´s Sorrentos was pretty good IMO on Oasis and Alllure. But to each their own. I´m going on a cruise, the last thing I want to worry about is if the pizza will be good, but I guess that´s just me.

  7. Odd. Maybe your cruise is way too far out? I'm about 35 days out. Are you using the US website?

38 days for me (Jan 27).

I´m not using the US website, I can´t log in, it says my booking info is wrong. I´m using the Mexico site. Surprisingly, the MSC for me app lets me in with no issues. It even displays my security picture there already. Odd indeed. I´m a control freak and like to have everything in my hands, plus, Christmas is coming, then NYE and I´m leaving for a few days, then on January 10 I´m heading to Puerto Rico, then Miami, then the cruise, so I really want to set things early.

Their website(s) really suck. I hope they don´t do cruising as their do their websites...

  8. I’m the one that discovered that uploading your security photo generates the etickets. While I saw the button to request the tickets I never had to use it. The tickets were generated automatically and instantly.

Check what email you have on your booking and make sure they are not in a spam folder.

I did, but nothing on spam either.

Guess I will really have to call which I wwas trying to avoid. Having worked at call centers before, I know how it goes...

  9.

For those making smart comments about the OP, Lambo is expressing what, I'm sure, a lot on here are thinking. Every time someone thinks of a question they have about Seaside, another thread is started! There's no need for this. Before Meraviglia sailed, most had the common sense to add questions, thoughts, opinions, etc. to the one, ongoing thread about the ship.

    Oh yes.

I get the excitement (count me in), this is the new IT ship not just for MSC but for the whole industry as it´s something completely new and different to anything else at sea. While Divina back then or Bellisima for example are beautiful they are just new ships, there´s nothing really groundbreaking. So ok, I do get the excitement, but there are way too many posts for a simple question that could be asked on the many posts there are for all questions. Seaside smoothies, Seaside pizza, dancing on seaside, lanyards on Seaside, coffee on Seaside, mustering on Seaside, gelato on Seaside... and it goes on and on.

  10. Speaking about the tickets. I have a question too

I finally got the button to request them, I guess they really needed our pictures. It says its complete now and I have the Request your tickets button. I clicked, it shows to be loading something but nothing happens. There´s nothing on my email either. Tried both explorer and chrome. I booked through an online agency, not a real TA. Any advise?

Btw, I have already contacted MSC and they say they will get back to me but they never do. Thanks.

  11. If having your card hanging is a must, you could try going to Office Depot for a plastic badge holder and attach it to your CC lanyard. Or as mentioned above, go to the Logo Shop and buy a new lanyard, that way you will have 2 :)

  12. Somewhere on CC someone told me if you uploaded a picture to each of your documents you'd get an email with your tickets and luggage tags to print out. My cruise is almost 90 days out and I've already got everything printed. I don't even know where you'd go for laminating services here so I just fold up my luggage tags and then cover them on both sides with wide clear packing tape.

On all our past cruises we've just borrowed a stapler at the hotel, folded the tags around the handles, and stapled them twice by the handle and twice at the end. One time pulling our luggage out of his trunk a luggage tag but I think it was because someone who's name starts with "H" and ends with "usband" only stapled his tag once. ;p

Happily the baggage steward sorted it for us in moments when we arrived.

We're flying in the day of the cruise this time and I am thinking I'll just take the roll of wide packing tape. I can fold them over the handle and tape them together well. I don't know what they'd say to me taking the stapler on the flight. Husband told me I shouldn't because ours is an older Swingline from back when they were still made of steel and had some heft. He says he can just see the newspaper headline. "Crazed Cruiser Stopped at International Airport with Unusual Weapon" or some such. He's been snickering to himself ever since I suggested taking it.

You are way too nervous about the tags IMO. I have showed up at the pier with no tags, or without the tags placed and they help me out. It just takes a couple of minutes.

  13. Found this:

In the evenings it's dressier, but more smart casual than formal, except for the two "elegant" (not formal) nights per cruise. Jackets for men (tie optional) and dresses or pantsuits for women are appropriate, but the code isn't strictly enforced. Suits, tuxes and ball gowns are not necessary, but many passengers do choose to dress to the nines, particularly on "Meet the Captain" night.

So there are no formal nights but elegant nights.

There is a Seaside menu for the MDR that states elegant as well.

  14. This photo was posted on Facebook. As you can see lots of outdoor seating for the buffet on the promenade. On the other side is where the bar is. I think there is nice seating up and down the entire promenade, just not restaurants and bars. I might actually prefer it that way.

I like it this way better also. Have not sailed Breakaway or Getaway (Getaway is on my list) but I think if you want to enjoy the promenade dining, you have to pay specialty. When looking at the brochure I dont remember any complimentary al fresco places, which put me off the ship a bit.

  15. I am a very social person and could talk to anyone -gay or not- but the thing is that my BF doesn't speak English pretty well so while I'm chatting and having fun he really is having a hard time, so most times I feel bad for him and kinda guilty as I'm having a good time but he really isn't. Its not that he doesn't want to talk to people but he just struggles with it.

On a Norwegian Epic TA in 2014 we met a pretty cool gay group that gets together every other year to do the same voyage on the same ship, we still keep in touch via Facebook. The next year we did another TA but on the Allure and there was a guy who saw us in the Epic last year. We didn't talk then but on the Allure he approached us and talked for a bit. We haven't done another transatlantic since 2015 but I'm sure I would run into them again.

So if you see us on a cruise, it's not that we are stuck up or anything lol.
