  1. 30 days would have been great like Melodie did for that route - I'm thinking that might have been on Oceania as they have some longer trips to that region. Order a brochure or they may have a downloadable version. We were on the M/S Paul Gauguin but the other ship is fairly new to the fleet (of 2 ships) within the past couple years. Their customer service pre-cruise was fantastic the couple times I called - they really know their product. They also have webinars once in awhile.

I'll comment about the entertainment in a bit. If you go to the Paul Gauguin section here on CC there are several repeaters who are active on that board. There isn't much traffic on it but everyone there is very nice.

Two people have some great picture reviews - Member "familygoboston" and a guy named Alan. I can't recall his screen name but he is from Denver and we were supposed to go last June on the trip with him but we moved to August since our DD was going to Canada with her friends. It is a very relaxed environment in all ways other than the flight there and back. Alan did the 11 day like we did in August. They also have trips this year to and back from Australia but I don't see any in 2015.

dexddd, Thanks for the information. Looks like they have some very interesting itineraries. How did you like the smaller ships? Did you feel like there was still enough to do to keep you busy or did you seem to have a lot of down time? Not that down time is bad at all, we love down time, just wanted to get the vibe of the ship. Thanks!

  2. We don't have anywhere near 51 but our favorite was Tahiti on Paul Gauguin last year. We did the 11 day - they have mostly 7 days but traveling that far we were going to do longer than 7 days.

By far a fabulous experience both from the islands and scenery to the crew, ship and food. When you really look at their pricing it is reasonable considering it includes airfare, all grats, all drinks, transfers to/from ship, and a pre and post hotel day room - that is changing a bit I understand based on what time your flights come/go.

dexddd, Just checked out their website and it looks like a fabulous ship! As you mention the pricing was fairly reasonable considering all you get. Looks like a pretty intimate experience with the size of the ship and the amount of passengers (332 or 88) depending on which ship. How was the entertainment?

  3. Yes, the new door on the balcony is where you show it on that GA picture. If you were to use the bedroom door it is right there to the right.

The first day we were in the room for about 20 minutes and had checked out the balcony and we didn't lock the second lock. Cecillio came in pretty quickly and mentioned something about having to lock the second lock or the door would swing open as he went out to the balcony to lock the 2nd lock. It was almost like there was a sensor on it (never saw one) that he knew so quickly that it wasn't locked or he found out in those first couple weeks of it being on the ship that it is an issue so he lets people know asap.

Wind will catch it and based on our experience whichever way you opened it it would want to swing open - the winds would just catch it from either direction even in port. However, when you open the door towards the side of the ship, there is a sort of strip of metal that goes along the length of the door (from top to bottom) close to the hinges so the door would only seem to open about a foot at the front side. We always held onto it since we were a bit concerned it would catch the wind and bend that metal or otherwise cause and issue.

If you open the door towards the living room, it would catch air and want to swing all the way back - there wasn't any latch to hold it that I ever saw, so basically any time you went from one side to the other, you had to hold it with two hands, go past the door, and then close it and lock both locks. The top lock was slanted such that it would freely push past the stop if it got enough wind so you always had to turn the 2nd lock. Even for myself I was thinking it was a safety hazard to try to operate and not sure why they added it.

I have a couple pictures if I could ever figure out how to post them full size on here.

I was told the door was added to stop the furniture from going over to the side or over the side - I didn't quite get the gist.

No, the furniture was never tied up. It was mostly kept in the far left - closest to the OS unless we pulled some out. Was it always tied up for you?

The one thing I hadn't realized with all of the pictures is the amount of storage space. Basically anything brown in the room with a silver strip was some sort of drawer or cabinet for storage.

One other odd thing we had on the first night/morning was from one of what I called the "drains of last resort" - the silver drains between the bathroom and the adjoining areas. The one closest to the bedroom as we were swaying from side to side in some waves you could hear some water swoosh in the drain and then it would have this sound like a flapper opening and closing. It was actually a bit loud that first night and we really didn't have it happen again.

dexddd, Thanks for the first hand description of the balcony door. It really sounds like a major pain. Our furniture was tied up to the rail in the same location that it was stored for you (front corner by the Owners Suite). It was tied up every time we sailed and then untied in port. When we were in the Owners Suite on the Pearl the furniture in the front balcony was tied up for sea days also. We just figured it was like that for all forward facing balconies. They must have had some issues with someone forgetting to tie it up and then losing some over the side or it was an accident waiting to happen with it moving around from the wind.

For pictures I loaded them into photobucket (free account) and then copied the photo as each photo then has its own url. I by no means am an expert, I had to search on cc to find out how it was done.

We never heard any drain noises at any time. We did notice a sewage smell when we were docked and it was definitely the most potent when we first got in the room the first day. We were a bit concerned but the smell seemed to come and go and we did not notice it when we were at sea.

There really is a huge amount of storage. We did not use more than 20% of the storage and I thought we brought a lot of stuff.

    Again, thanks for the information!!!

  4. It took me a couple tries to get on the slides, too! The rain would always come at EXACTLY the wrong time. When I finally did, I was glad... the freefall slides were incredible. Just a weird, terrifying sensation to have the bottom drop out from under you! Also kinda weird when they close you in and then lock it! I did each of the freefall's twice, and then one or two of the other slides. I didn't really spend long on them... I just wanted to say that I'd done them! I never actually got on the ropes course... honestly, it kinda terrified me!

    Richard/Tralfie

    Richard,

Me missing the slides and the ropes course was the biggest disappointment for me during the cruise. I figure if that is my biggest complaint it can't be too bad:D. I was like you and I just wanted to do them so I could say I did it. It was not a major part of our plans and it is not a big deal that I did not get to do them. I am sure there will be other trips on either the Breakaway or Getaway in our future:).

  5. Many thanks for such a detailed and helpful review! It is really appreciated!

Your idea of arranging your own dinner before the show seems like a good one. Can you explain a little bit about the logistics; i.e. if it is a dinner/show, how does one show up just in time for the show, and skip the dinner? Or do you mean you ate before hand and just told the waiter at the show that you don't want dinner?

    blueline7,

Great question as I really did not explain it very well. When you show up for the show you are seated and then your server comes around to take orders. We just told the server that we would not be eating dinner but we would be eating dessert. The dinner is brought out to you during the show. There were a lot of complaints, on CC, that people had a hard time eating and watching the show. They would look down to cut there steak and miss something during the show. With eating before the show, at a specialty restaurant with the Unlimited Dining Package (UDP), we did not spend any extra money, had a better dinner than we would have had at the show and never missed a portion of the show. It was GREAT!

Here we are with a couple of the performers, they were awesome!

Thanks for following the review, I appreciate it:).

  6. Hi all! I stayed in that exact suite last July and am curious about the new side door onto the balcony. Where is it...and why do you think they added it? As I remember, we could access the balcony from the bedroom and the living room.

Also...we too were a little let down about the look of the removable wall as well as the lack of soundproofing. It felt like a conference room in a hotel! That was absolutely the only issue we had in that awesome room though!

Thank you for this terrific review. The pics help me relive that great week!:)

    Tymike,

Glad you had a great time in the suite, I can't imagine someone having a bad time in it. The side door onto the balcony that you mention is actually on the balcony and splits the balcony into two areas. The divider is just to the right of the bedroom door to the balcony. I have not seen a picture of it on the Breakaway yet but here is a picture that you can partially see the location on the Getaway.

    IMG_3766.jpg

This picture was taken by AttilaTheFun so I hope I am not violating some cc rules by posting his picture, sorry if I am. With the divider closed there is no way to get on the side of the balcony from the room, you need to go thru the divider to get there. It baffles me as to why they put it there and not on the side of the balcony to block the wind so the side balcony could be used while sailing. I guess they would have a problem getting a divider strong enough to hold up to the wind at the front of the ship. Dexddd was told it had something to do with keeping the furniture from going over to the side or over the side, he could not quite understand Cecillio when he was explaining it to him.

Thanks for reading along, I am glad you are enjoying it. It certainly has been a lot of fun reliving the cruise while I am writing about it:D.

  7. I don't think the towel animals were his strong point. I watched one night as were were talking and he took the prior night animal and repositioned it into another, similar animal. We really enjoyed talking to Cecillio and the other crew.

We told Fernando he had to show us a trick since we missed GSC. He said he didn't know any tricks. I tracked him down later in the week and we said we were waiting for a trick so we taught him one we learned on a prior trip. Fernando said to say hello to Mr and Mrs "D". He wasn't our butler but he came around quite a bit to talk.

Our DD and I went to a demo on one of the ships and got a dvd that shows how to make many of the animals. When we were on the trip I wished we had taken that with so our DD could have whipped one up to put out in the room to surprise them.

While we really liked the room overall, the noise from the wall in the one corner was an issue at times. Not that it was the neighbors being loud, just a bad design where I could hear every word when sitting in the living room at times.

The side door on the balcony was also a big PITA. Even with light winds in port, you had to turn a lock and then the handle to go to the side. The door was then a big sail and you had to hold onto it with two hands and then lock it with the turn lock (otherwise it would just fly open - we were shown this on the first day). It really is a safety hazard and not sure why they added it as it doesn't block any wind on the side.

    dexddd,

We enjoyed all of the Haven staff as well, everyone was so nice. Fernando was one of the happiest people we have ever encountered on an NCL cruise. He always had a big smile on his face and was always cheerful. He was not always the easiest to understand but was a pleasure to talk to. I certainly hope we have the pleasure of having him as our butler on a future cruise.

I think I am going to have to track down a dvd or a book to find out how to make the towel animals. It would be a riot to have all the towels in the cabin decorated into animals the first time the cabin steward comes into the room:D.

We did have a few issues with the thin removable wall between our room and the Owners suite as well. As you said it is a bad design. I am not sure what else they would be able to use if they still want to be able to remove the barrier between the rooms for people that want to rent them both and create a monster suite.

I am glad the balcony door was added right after our cruise and we did not have to deal with it:). As you say it looks like it is useless and it really does not seem to do anything. The only thing I can think of is it may somehow cut down on the wind in the front area so they would not have to tie the furniture down when sailing. Did they still have all the furniture tied up when you were sailing as they did on our trip?

I hope you had a fantastic cruise!!

  8. I thought I would post a few pictures of the towel animals that we had in our room. The towel animals were a little bit of a disappointment as we wanted to keep all of the animals together throughout the cruise but our first animal was taken the next day. We also had three nights that we did not get an animal. One of the nights was our fault as we forgot to turn our room light from "do not disturb" to "make up room". Our room steward told us they are not allowed to enter a room with a "do not disturb" light on.

The towel animals are always a favorite of ours!!!!:D:D

  9. Well again work seems to be getting in the way of me finishing this review. I think I can get another day in.............so onward we go.

    Day 6.....,.

We slept in a bit and decided we would have an early lunch in the Haven restaurant. My DW was feeling a little queasy but thought she would try to eat some food. My DW ordered the french dip and I ordered the steak. When our food arrived the smell of the french dip did not go over with my DW very well and she did not eat any of it. I had the steak and also ate her french dip. After lunch we headed back to the room so my DW could lay down.

I thought this would be a good time to hit the water slides and the ropes course. I was able to get my wedding ring off on day 4 and I left it off as I thought I may not be able to get it off again. I headed out to the water slides and low and behold they were closed as it just rained........bummer, I will try it again later. I went back to the room to change and head to the casino. I tried my luck at the blackjack tournament but the gambling gods were against me. I played some regular blackjack for a while then went back out and checked on the slides...........they were open again. So back to the room again to change and get my towel and head out to give it another go. I made it to the outside door on deck 16 and everyone was running inside............there was a torrential downpour. It was really coming down!! No go on the slides again:mad:. I was really starting to think there was a higher being that did not want me to go on the slides or rope course for some reason. Back to the room to change again. My DW was feeling better and decided she would try to make it to the spa to relax for a bit.

Back to the casino for me and some more blackjack. The tables were good to me and I really did not want to leave.........but the slides were calling me again. I made another trip outside to make sure they were open and they were back in operation. Back to the room to change and get my towel and head out to the slides again. I found a chair for my towel and started heading up the stairs to the big slides. I made it to the last flight of stairs and guess what........it started raining again and they sent everyone back down as the slides were closing again. This was now the 4th time that I attempted to get on the slides and I decided it was not meant to be for me to get on the slides or ropes course so I gave up after that.

Back to the room to change again and my DW was there and she was not feeling well again. The water in the spa Jacuzzi was splashing over the sides of the pool and the motion of the water was making her sick. We decided to head to the lower levels and middle of the ship to hopefully cut down on some of the movement. It just happens to be right where the casino is located so we both sat down and played some blackjack a bit. We ran into Richard/Tralfie again and visited with him for a little while. We felt really bad that we forgot to wish him a Happy Birthday as this was his birthday cruise and today was his big day!

We had reservations for the early and late show of Rock of Ages (did I mention that we really liked this show...lol) and it was time to get ready. My DW was not sure if she was going to be feeling well enough to make the show or not. I wanted to sit in the front row again so I headed down about an hour early to get in line. I ended up in the center front row again and a few minutes before the show started my DW made it. We watched the show and it was just as good the 2nd time as it was the 1st. My DW even caught the thong underwear that were thrown into the audience:D. After each of the shows some of the cast members come out to the lobby for pictures. I thought it was very nice of them to do this and we were able to get pictures with 8 of the cast members.

    RockofAges2.jpg

We decided we would not go to the 2nd show that night as my DW thought that the cast members would think we were stalking them or think that I was a dirty old man.....lol. I just really admire the talent and courage of the performers as being in a show like this is one thing I would never be able to do. I was definitely at the back of the line when this type of talent was given out.

We did not make dinner reservations as we figured we were going to be attending both Rock of Ages shows. We were not really hungry but decided we should try to eat something. We decided to head to Cagney's and see if we could get in. They were booked with about an hour wait so we decided to head over to Moderno as it is right next door. We were seated immediately and it was not long before all the meat skewers started arriving. The meat was good but I really like Cagney's a lot better. It was good to give Moderno a try. We were not really that hungry to begin with so it was not a big deal that it was not a favorite place of ours to eat.

We took a few more portrait pictures and then headed back to the room as my DW was still not feeling the greatest. A good day that could have been a lot better if I would have been able to make it on the water slides or ropes course. Just another reason to book a cruise on the Breakaway or Getaway in the future:D.

  10. What camera / lens are you using btw?

it looks like a 55-250 lens for some of those wide shots + close up of the lizard.

BuffetPantsPls, I shot this with a Nikon D7100 with a 55-300 lens for most of my pictures. Some of the distance shots I used a 18-55 lens. It is a newer camera that I have had for the last 6 months and I love it! Thanks for following along:).

  11. still loving this review. You have ALMOST convinced me to head to Atlantis and the lazy river this summer.

I'm glad everyone was ok during the storm. We were on the Jewel during hurricane Sandy and there were a few moments I wondered if we were going to make it..

Ginger, Glad you are still following along with the review. I've almost convinced myself to go to Atlantis again this summer.........;). I hope you are able to make it, it was a blast and I certainly was not there long enough to fully enjoy it. I wish my wife would have been able to partake in the water fun and enjoyed it more. She still had a good time, I just think she would have had a lot more fun if she could have gone in the water.

I could not imagine what it must have been like on the Jewel during hurricane Sandy. I am sure you have a memory that will last forever.............at least it sounds like you came out of it unscathed:). I hope it has not scared you away from cruising again in the future:D.

  12. During our day in Nassau, I went on a catamaran and snorkeled, but man, I really kinda wish I'd gone to Atlantis. Not that I didn't have a great time, because I did... but I'm SUCH a big fan of water parks (I love Disney's Typhoon lagoon), and this sounds right up my alley. But when I take the Gem in September (on this same itinerary), I"ll definitely do Atlantis.

I loved Teppanyaki. It was such a fantastic show, and the food was fantastic. You KNOW food is good when I eat the vegetable course. I never eat my veggies, but these were fantastic! And I was so glad Ann was able to make it!

Not a day goes by that I haven't thought about this trip and all the great experiences I had during that week. The fact that I got to share so much time with the two of you was a real highlight. You are fantastic people, so warm and welcoming. I love reading your review and reliving things through it!

    Richard/Tralfie

Richard, If you liked Typhoon Lagoon I am sure you will like the Atlantis waterpark. It has been over 10 years since I have been to Typhoon Lagoon but I liked the Atlantis waterpark a lot more. I am sure your trip on the Gem is going to be a blast. Are you going on your own again this cruise or were you able to talk any of your roommates into going?

I hope you do try a local teppan grill restaurant. They are a lot of fun and usually very reasonably priced. As I mentioned, Teppanyaki in my mind is only an average restaurant of this type. Hopefully you have a great one near you and you will have a new favorite restaurant:).

Both Ann and I had a blast spending time with you. We wish you the best in all you do. It is great that you now have the cruising bug and will be cruising again in September. We will keep an eye out and see if there is ever a time we can get together on another ship.

  13. Good to hear you enjoyed your Nassau day. The lazy river sounds like my kind of day :)

Looking forward to more of your review.

    Fantastic pictures once again !

Robin, Thanks for following along with the review. It is fun to write about it and relive the cruise for weeks after the trip. As much fun as Atlantis was, if I was to sail the Breakaway again it would be to Bermuda. Bermuda sounds like such an amazing place! I am sure you are going to have a fantastic trip there in July, ENJOY!!!!!!

  14. Day 5 continued................

Back on the ship I just hung out on our deck for a while admiring the views and taking a few pictures of the area. It really is a spectacular and beautiful spot.

    NewYorkandBreakaway840.jpg

We were docked very close to Atlantis.

    NewYorkandBreakaway842.jpg

This is a continuation of the land strip to the left of Atlantis.

    NewYorkandBreakaway843.jpg

Further continuation of the land strip. I thought this house was in a spectacular spot. It looks very nice from a distance but with binoculars or a telephoto lens the house is in need of some major repairs.

    NewYorkandBreakaway844.jpg

The end of the land strip with a old rundown light house at the end.

I then walked around the ship for a while to take pictures of some of the areas that I had not been able to take pictures of in the past. We had early dinner reservations and I needed to get ready, so back to the room and a couple of additional pictures.

    NewYorkandBreakaway888.jpg

    NewYorkandBreakaway898.jpg

It really was a beautiful night.

Once I got back in the room my DW was not feeling very well so she was laying down and resting. We had early dinner reservations at Teppanyaki with Richard/Tralfie that we had met earlier in the cruise. My DW was not sure if she would make dinner or not. I left to meet Richard at the restaurant and we were seated quickly. We had another party at the table with us and we had a great conversation. Richard is a truly remarkable person and I really enjoyed our time together. My DW fortunately was able to make it to dinner about 20 minutes late, but hurray, she was able to make it. This was the first time that Richard had ever been to a teppan style Japanese restaurant. I think he really liked it as the show that the chef put on was very good and the food was good.

Teppan style restaurants are one of our favorite types of restaurants. We have been to a lot of different ones and our all-time favorite restaurant is Musashi Japanese Restaurant in Las Vegas. We are a bit spoiled as Musashi's is spectacular and probably one the top Teppan restaurants in the country. Teppanyaki on the Breakaway was just average, although an average teppan grill dinner is still great. One huge kudo I do need to give Teppanyaki is their filet mignon was incredible. It was the best filet I have had at a teppan restaurant.

After dinner we had made reservations for Rock of Ages. I really like to watch shows from the front row whenever possible. The Haven guests have seats reserved for them but they are off to the side and about 10 rows back. I wanted front row seats so we got in line with everyone else about 50 minutes before the show started. We were able to get seats smack dab in the middle of the front row. The show was filling up and there was a seat that was available next to us. Low and behold Richard showed up so he sat next to us for the show. The show is incredible!!!!!!! We loved it. The energy that the performers put into the show in amazing. With seats in the front row there are times that the performers were jumping at us and performing literally a few feet from us. There were certainly times I was hoping the lead male singer would not lose his balance or misjudge a jump because we would have ended up with him in our laps.

The show is definitely rated "R" as there are a few F-Bombs and simulated sex acts on stage. It did not affect us at all but parents should be warned. They do not allow anyone under the age of 12 sit in the first 3 rows. We had read on CC about people leaving during the show but with being in the front row we could not see if anyone left or not. We liked the show so much (we knew we would) that we made reservations for both shows the next night also.

After the show we headed for bed as it had been a busy day. It really was a great day and we hope we can make it back to Nassau at some point in the future.

  15. Well on to day 5...........

This was the day of the trip we were looking most forward to, a day in Nassau, Bahamas. We have always wanted to go to Atlantis and had looked at vacationing there in the past. There were always stumbling blocks as it is not one of the cheaper places to vacation. In addition, since we live in Montana it takes two days to fly there and two days to get home.

For breakfast we decided to head down to Carlos Bake Shop to try the famous Lobster Tails that we had read so much about on CC. We were both in agreement, they were ok but nothing out of this world delicious like we were hoping. We then headed back to the Haven to meet Ruth, our concierge. She took us the back way down to exit the ship and we were off in no time flat (have I mentioned that I love this perk........lol).

We found our meeting place and waited about 20 minutes before we all started heading to the buses. There were a lot of people in our group and the line to get on the buses was fairly long. I think we loaded up 6 buses or so to get everyone there. It is a short drive to get to Atlantis but boy is there some crazy driving that goes on in Nassau. We thought we were going to die a few times. Maybe 10 minutes at the most and we had made it, alive even.

We had a tour guide that escorted us through Atlantis for our day at the water park and tour of the Dig. It is a fairly long walk to get to the water park and there were many stops along the way for our guide to give us some information and point out areas of interest that we may want to explore later in the day. We finally arrived at the water park and found some lounge chairs to claim. It was still 25 minutes before the park officially opened and my DW had a swimming suit malfunction. She said she would just not go in the water and lay in the sun. I said "let's just go find you another swimming suit here". We wandered for a while trying to find a shop that would carry swimming suits. We finally found a store that carried them and then my DW looked at the price:eek:. It had a price tag of $245.00. They also had some men's button up shirts so I looked at the price on them, $255.00. I figured this must be in their own currency and there had to be an exchange difference. I asked the attendant if these are priced in American dollars or their own currency and she said it did not matter as the exchange rate was 1 for 1. Needless to say we did not buy a swimming suit and I certainly was not going to buy a shirt. My DW said she would be fine just enjoying the sun.

We made our way back to our loungers and the park was now open. I went on the lazy river (maybe it is the "not so lazy river" as that would be a better name for it). What fun! It is over a mile long and there is a big wave machine that shoots a big wave down the river every 30 seconds or so. The waves are large when you are near the wave machine but it is a lot of fun and the waves just speed you down the river a bit faster. As you get further from the wave machine the waves get smaller and smaller until you barely notice them. The river meanders around and then you come to a fork in the road that gives you two choices (I believe it was rapids or chutes). I chose the chutes as that is where most of the kids were going (it had to be good then, I thought). There is a long section of a very narrow river that you either had to push yourself along by pushing off the sides while floating or finally just give up and get off your tube and walk. After pushing off the sides for a while I decided it made a lot more sense to just get off and walk. I walked until I came to the conveyer belt that takes you on your tube up a hill. At the top of the hill there is a building and you have another choice as they have two water slides (hills and drops). I again put my faith in the kids as most of them were going in the "drops" line. I waited my turn and then I was off on the slide, sitting on my tube. It was a blast! The kids did not let me down. The slide takes you right back into the lazy river to continue the journey. It was about a 40 minute round trip to get back to the starting point. I checked on my DW and headed for another trip. This time when I came to the fork in the river I took the rapids. It was ok but I wish I would have tried the "hills" slide by taking the other fork again. I could have stayed on this all day and been happy but there were other slides to conquer.

I found my DW and we decided to head over to some of the water slides. First up was the Challenger. It is a racing drop that two people can take simultaneous and see who is faster. They have a time clock at the end so you can see who has the fastest time. It is over in about 4.5 seconds, but it is a lot of fun. I then got in line for Leap of Faith. This is the 60' almost vertical drop that once you level out you are in a tube going through the shark tank.

    Here is the slide!!!!!

It is a lot of fun but you really can't tell that you are in the middle of a shark tank as there is water splashing in your eyes and you are in the shark tank for about 1 second. I then decided to try the Serpent Slide which takes you through the Mayan Temple with twists and turns in darkness. It then spits you out in a tube that goes through the shark tank slowly. It was a lot of fun. There were many more slides to go on but I figured I had tortured my DW long enough.

We decided we would tour the facility and we headed over to the Dig. This is an underground tour of the undersea world of the lost city Atlantis. They have a huge amount of fish with underwater sea life with the background of a ruined city. It is very elaborate.

We then just walked around the beautiful resort for a while. Here are a few of the pictures we took.

  16. I have a few questions about your dining experience...Did you need to make reservations for restaurants? If you did not make reservations were there long waits? How far in advance did you need to make reservations? Thanks for your help I have never sailed ncl info is appreciated.

connes1 - We had our concierge make dining reservations for us. When we made reservations they were made in the early afternoon for that night. There was one day that we did not make reservations as we were not sure if we were going to eat dinner that night or not. We tried to get into Cagneys around 8:30pm but they said there would be an hour wait. We went next door to Moderno and got right in. With reservations, I think the longest wait we had was at Teppanyaki and we waited about a minute or two. I would definitely recommend the Unlimited Dining Package if you can afford it, well worth it. I hope this helps:).

  17. Gorgeous photos.

Very glad no one was hurt by all that damage during the storm!

That storm came up the coast and by the time it hit Cape Cod/Nantucket, they got about a foot of snow. Waves out at sea were reported at 70 feet. We had wind gusts in the New York area at over 35 mph. Nasty.

Enjoying your review very much! Thank you!

    Happy Sailing!

Every Day at Sea is a Great Day

It was definitely the worst storm we have ever been in at sea but at no time did we ever feel unsafe. We felt very fortunate that we were on a very large cruise ship as I am sure some of the smaller ships were taking a beating. We felt very bad for the staff that needed to clean up after all the damage. I am sure they had better things to do than deal with all the mess.

I hope you have a great cruise on the Breakaway in July!!!
