  1. Why isn't there any way to see which cabins are available for a particular Silversea cruise?  The Silversea website doesn't seem to allow online booking, which would include a cabin selection page. This would especially be helpful for indiviuals looking for accessible cabins. Some customers will only book a cruise if their favorite cabin is available.

  2. I am looking forward to sailing SS for my first time this August but SS customer service is vague and unclear.

When/if Silversea cancels our 8/29/21 Muse cruise leaving from  Seward (Anchorage, Alaska), USA to Tokyo, Japan, is it their policy to offer guests the choice of 110% FCC or 15% discount?

15% savings* on any new cruise date (including the new upcoming Silver Moon Itineraries), when booking before the 6th of May. World Cruise excluded.

Is this stated anywhere as SS policy? I reviewed my confirmation invoice and it states cancelation charges:

From deposit up to 121 days prior to
    sailing
    Until Apr 30, 2021 $200 per booking.

My dilemma is to cancel myself and lose $200 or wait to see if Silversea cancels due to complications in providing the cruise from Alaska to Japan this August. Currently Muse is in Singapore and Silversea has removed all Alaska/Vancouver & Alaska Japan transpacific itineraries from their website.

Another option is their Cruise with Confidence program:

Our Cruise with Confidence programme gives you flexibility and peace of mind, knowing that should you choose to cancel your
cruise at any time 30 days before sailing, you may receive a Future Cruise Credit amounting to 100% of the total monies paid to
    Silversea.

As of today I'm leaning to cash out, lose $200 and cruise later with a company that is not so vague. I believe good customer service should be transparant, timely and fair.

    Am I missing something?

The tour I took was a guided tour.  Everything was included such as air, meals, rooms. and all points of interest. Our guide also took us to places not included in the itinerary. If you wished to see anything on your own he would arrange it .Accommodations and food were great.  Have done plenty of cruising and am now concentrating on land tours. The 20+ hr, flights are a killer!

Did you ever write a tour review? I would be interested in learning more about your land tour experiences ( good & bad) to assist me in planning. The fact that it included Mynamar(Burma),Laos, and Cambodia make the land tour seem a fit for our itinerary. I would supply my email to you to get more information. Thank you in advance.

  5. Is the Rendezvous Lounge a thing of the past? My wife and I enjoyed dancing there on many cruises and would love to do it again. Our last cruise was on EDGE and the dance experience was not the same. Does Celebrity have a Rendezvous Lounge or anywhere to else to dance to live music?

  6. I would highly recommend touring both sides of the falls and having visas from both countries are required. My wife and I flew from Lima, Peru after we visited Machu Picchu, into the Iguazu Falls, Brazil airport(IGU) on day 1. We took a cab from the IGU airport in Brazil across the border to spend 3 nights at Hotel Jardin de Iguazu, in Puerto Iguazu, Argentina. The hotel is highly rated and is well situated in the town for restaurants, shopping and local sight seeing. If you chose to stay at either resort hotels in the Argentine or Brazil National parks you are isolated from other restaurants and transportation logistics are poor. Within walking distance of the Jardin is the local public bus that has schedule service to both parks. Visiting the Argentina side on day 2 and the Brazilian side on day 3. We enjoyed the extra time of touring on our own with no schedule of a tour guide. We had a feast taking countless photos. On day 4 we flew from the Puerto Iguazu, Argentine airport (IGR) to Buenos Aires Domestic airport (AEP) which is very close to downtown.

Our costs were 3 nights at hotel including breakfast and taxes about $1000, Meals about $300, taxis and bus transfers about $200, park entrance fees less than $200. Our flights were purchased on a South American air pass through Avianca and LAN which offered a great value.

Iguazu Falls are a true wonder and are definitely worth the time and money. I recommend do it on your own rather than through the cruise line. You will have it the way you want it.

    safe travels.

  7. Here are 2 suggestions:

    http://www.shuttle-inter.com/

    http://en.supershuttle.fr/

It depends if you want a shared shuttle or private transfer and how many people. I booked the private transfer for 3 people and 6 bags, arriving CDG at 1 hour apart.

Quote: "At the scheduled flight, our representative will be waiting to meet

you at the information desk of the terminal 2A with a name board. ( Driver will come for last arriving flight)

    2.Rates

Total cost will be 55 Euro for 3 passengers (One way from CDG Airport

to PARIS Hotel ) Private transfer." Unquote

Using a shared shuttle from super shuttle may be less but you may have more stops.

    Good Luck

  8. I join Journey on Monday for five weeks and will be happy to do that or maybe during the trip.

  9. You could do a poll? :) What you are going to find, is raves for the particular ship people took. And depending on the lines and how many ships they have sailing Alaska will likely be ranked as such.

I have been on every major line that sails Alaska with the exception of Disney. Not likely to have other posters in this "boat". I do have my preferences, but will never "recommend" any as "best". There are too many variables that impact a visit- cost, ports, port times, glacier. I suggest you figure out some of those issues, first, to point you in the direction for your cruise. It doesn't matter what anyone else has done.

I agree. You may want to decide what are must do vs it would be nice and then look at the itinerary closely. Also consider what your budget is and if you want an inside, ocean view or balcony cabin. It can be very pricey and each line has specials.

Allow enough time to decide & plan especially when it comes to shore excursions. You may want to consider some time for touring Alaska on land either before or after the cruise. Good luck!

  10. Thank you for your help. I have changed the plan to stay at Deneki Lakes B & B on 6 /13 then take the 6:00am bus to Denali Backcountry Lodge for 2 nights then one night in Fairbanks. Right now I am waiting to hear back from a spot btwn Fairbanks & Chitina for a overnight stay before we stay 3 nights at Wrangel-St. Elias NP (Kennicott). I looked at other alternatives in Valdez and am open for suggestions. Friends have told me to be sure and allow enough time in Homer. Still concerned about the bugs.

I appreciate you input. I will monitor all input.

  11. I appreciate this forum and would like seasoned advice on my planned itinerary. My budget is planned at averaging approximately $500 per day for my DH and me. We have been to Alaska on 2 other cruises, one of which had a 2 day ANC self-tour.

    1. Holland America 7 night round trip Inside Passage cruise from Vancouver where we spent 3 nights in Vancouver precruise and 3 nights in Victoria post cruise.

    2. Celebrity Millennium (9 August, 2013) 7 night South Bound Seward to Vancouver that was modified because of propulsion problems to spend 4 days in Seward then straight to Vancouver for disembarkation. (Missed Hubbard Glacier, Juneau, Skagway, Icy Strait Point & Ketchikan) While in Seward we visited Exit Glacier, Waterfront Park, Alaska Sea Life Center & Kenai Fjords Tours.

We enjoy independent travel with some hiking, museum, window shopping, local culture, foodie, natural outdoor beauty and a big helping of wildlife. Won't go camping, zip-lining, bungee jumping or sky diving. Have enjoyed sport fishing & meeting people in occasional back packing lodge stays.

We arrive in ANC 6/12 spend night in Anchorage.

On 6/13 pickup rental car downtown Anchorage drive to Denali to catch 1:00pm bus from Denali cabins to Denali Backcountry Lodge for 3 nights. While in Denali we plan nature walks, gold panning & Wonder Lake.

On 6/16 catch the morning bus from Lodge back to rental car to drive to Fairbanks to stay 2 nights. While in Fairbanks we plan to visit the Museum, Pioneer Park, Wedgewood Wildlife Sanctuary & possibly Riverboat Discovery Tours. We are considering only spending one night in Fairbanks and one night at the Lodge at Black Rapids to shorten the drive to Chitina.

On 6/18 drive to Chitina to catch Wrangell Mount Air @ 5:45pm to McCarthy & Kennicott Glacier Lodge for 3 nights.

On 6/21 flight back to Chitina, drive to Valdez spend night at Harbor Inn.

On 6/22 take Alaska Marine Highway Ferry to Whittier then the1:00m or 2:00pm tunnel to drive to Homer, spending 4 nights in Homer.

On 6/26 drive back to Anchorage, drop off the car, spend 1 night in Anchorage.

On 6/27 take the 6:45am morning AKRR to Seward & board Celebrity Millennium for 7 night Southern Glacier Cruise.

The cruise has stops in Juneau, Skagway, Icy Strait Point, Ketchikan and Vancouver. It helps us that we have been on the two other cruises but have not car traveled in Alaska so much as now planned for this year. That is where we need feedback.

Another concern is what kind of bug spray should we buy? The major concern is does the itinerary seem logical before I lock in all the reservations. I have made most reservations but still can make changes up to 45 days prior to avoid most fees.

Thank you in advance for your expert advice.
