Love your post! We’ve only done 7 day cruises with our kids but we are looking at longer itineraries for next year. Our kids are older (11 & 15) and we think all of the experiences/memories we have made together are priceless.

How far is the walk and is it equivalent to Cocoa beach?

Jetty Park is a quick walk, maybe 10-15 minutes. It is the same as Cocoa Beach minus the shops and restaurants. FishLips has opened a little quick serve type place where you can purchase light snacks and drinks. I know if you arrive via vehicle you have to pay an entrance fee ($20.00 I believe if non Brevard County resident). I do not think you have to pay if on foot.

I agree, uber or lyft. You could ask them to drop you at the Cocoa Beach Pier, It shouldn't be too expensive. Are you just looking to go to the beach? If so, you could visit Jetty Park which is very close to the port.

Thank you for taking the time to explain yourself. I did read through your response entirely and it does seem you come from a good place trying to warn others of things they may not like (or like). I personally would only take reviews, thoughts, comments and experiences seriously from people who have actually stepped foot on the ship I am considering (as I had assumed you had). We have cruised quite a lot in all different categories. Every ship has had similarities but have also been very different experiences every time - Even within the same cruiseline. Again, I appreciate where you are coming from. Happy cruising!

I know exactly what you are referring to and I think it should be fine. It is basically wine. You might have to explain it though and depending on the agent you could have an issue. I assume you haven't tried it yet? Wondering how it tastes?

We too are in the same situation. No complaints with NCL at all but looking for a change and to expose our kids to something a little different. We’ve booked Seaside for end of June. Definitely not worried a bit:).

I can relate- DH is bugging me for a trip on escape for the beer bar lol.

 

I can answer this based on my experience (did I mention dh is a huge kid?). We haven’t done escape, but we have sailed epic, breakaway, and getaway. I have not sailed seaside, but have sailed divina and not much seems significantly different in terms of activities with seaside, but please double check reviews.

 

1) water slides. I admit it, we are both hooked. The zero gravity drop slides on away are a huge rush- tons of fun even for adrenaline junkies. Nearly worth the price of admission alone. The slide on divina was so slow you had to self propel. Beyond lame.

BermudaBound, I just read through this post and noticed you have not sailed Seaside yet!?! From all of your negativity concerning this ship I had assumed it came from first hand knowledge. Why do you feel it necessary to criticize so strongly? Just curious?

Not sure if you have been on the NCL Getaway or not but we have sailed her twice over the past couple of years. My DH isn't a fan of dressing up while on vacation either so NCL was perfect for that. There was also a ton to do late night - Howl at the Moon was awesome and so much fun. We have decided to give Seaside a try and we are looking very forward to it. Sorry that I can't answer your question about Seaside but I can recommend the Getaway for late night fun.:)

I wonder if this is a new (strange) trend? We noticed the pool was deep on the NCL Getaway. Everyone was sitting around the edge. That was new for us.

We sailed last October and just walked into this Hilton with our group. We bought drinks and food from the patio bar and enjoyed the pool and beach. We didn't have any issues and we didn't notice anyone else wearing wristbands. This was not a busy time of the year though so maybe that is why? We are headed back to Nassau (again..ugh) in June and this is our plan if we decide to get off the ship. It was a great day!

No, NCL does not do formal nights. Rather, "elegant night". However, it is not required. NCL is the most laid back cruise experience when it comes to dress that we have been on and we love it[emoji4]!
