Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. Question about one key benefit, I got the following in the email from RCL as a listed benefit: Seats in the exclusive VIP seating section at shows in the Main Theatre, Aqua Theater, Studio B and Two70, however a reservation is needed so don't forget to book once you're onboard! We will be on the Enchantment, does this apply also to the Orpheum Theater? Do we need to make reservations onboard?
  2. If you booked the key and notice a price drop, do you need to cancel and rebook, or can you call Royal for a price adjustment? Thank you
  3. Yes, I agree on making sandwiches with ingredients that will last longer in a backpack. Those would anyway be a last resort if we cannot find anything pre-packaged on the ship to take with us. A couple bananas and apples would also be a good choice if allowed in the port.
  4. Looking at a recent cruise compass for a cruise leaving Barcelona, like ours: https://www.royalcaribbeanblog.com/cruise-compasses/symphony-of-the-seas/sun-06042023-0000-0 There is no mention of not being allowed to take food in France and Italy ports (other than Civitavecchia). So it may be port dependent and probably depends also on where the cruise starts, if it is from the EU, you might be able to take food out.
  5. Hmm, Greece is part of the EU, maybe Santorini has some special rules being an island? Anyone has a recent compass for Italy and France?
  6. That’s good to know they will do this. So if they won’t say anything, I should be good.
  7. I am not trying to argue with anybody… just trying to figure out if anyone on a similar cruise has seen if Royal allows you to take food off the ship. Based on the EU rules, I am confident it is allowed by the EU and EU customs, and have no problem doing this if Royal allows it and does not check the bags on exit. I will definitely try it and report back on this thread after the cruise.
  8. Well, the cruise leaves from the EU (Barcelona) and ends in the EU (Rome) and only stops in EU ports (France and Italy)... so this should be proof enough I think. I totally agree with sampling local cuisine and will do that, we are also spending a few days before and after the cruise in the EU. Was just planning on getting some food for the couple of days that have a really packed schedule just in case.
  9. As per this link, even meat and fruits are allowed into EU for personal consumption... so I don't think sandwiches should be an issue and against agricultural laws: https://europa.eu/youreurope/citizens/travel/carry/meat-dairy-animal/index_en.htm The only issue could be if Royal won't allow it.
  10. Hi all! Is it allowed to take food out from Windjammer and off the ship? We have a very port intensive cruise coming soon with stops in France and Italy. As far as I know, it is allowed to get food into most of the Europe, but does Royal allow it? Will our bags be checked for food when exiting the ship? Some of our days will be pretty packed and might not be able to stop for lunch... so was thinking of making a couple of sandwiches at breakfast and take them off ship along with some fruits to have some quick food for the day. Thank you!
  11. For the public bus #10 from Piazza della Repubblica, where do you buy the tickets? Can you buy them from the bus driver? I don't think the regular urban bus tickets from the tobacco shops work on this line... Although a little slower than the train, will likely be less hassle than LAM BLU + train + waiting in between. On Sundays it looks like the #10 leaves every hour on top of the hour. We are arriving in Livorno at 7 AM, so there might be a chance we could catch the 8 AM bus to Pisa, and, if not, the 9 AM should be fine and should be there after an hour. Then walk to the tower, so I think a timed tower ticket after 11 AM should be safe? What do you guys think? Thanks again!
  12. Thanks! Yes, we only want to go to Pisa and trying to figure out the timing to purchase the tower timed tickets in advance. If the ship docks at 7am, based on all of the above, I think it is safe to assume we should be at the tower by noon, with all the transfers and walking, right? Thanks again!
  13. We will be on the same cruise in September and I wish the OP would come back and finish the report... I was enjoying this report so far, still hoping for some more insights before our cruise. @HWeb13 please come back to us 😄
  14. I guess we will take LAM BLU to the train station and then the train to Pisa Centrale and walk from there, but I am still not clear on how to get to Piazza Municipio, if Royal has a shuttle or there is a port shuttle that gets us to the port entrance... cannot figure out where that is or what to take from there to Piazza Municipio if the shuttle leaves us at said port entrance.
  15. Yes, they answered my email and said are closed on Sunday...
