  1. We were to cruise on the Apex on June 27th-relatively new to cruising  -this was to be our third cruise and we were very excited about it. We had only booked in January -on our wedding anniversary-it was my gift to my husband and myself! Had joined our Roll Call and started to get to know some of our fellow cruisers.  We had hoped to cruise last year but had to defer as my MIL was ill.  Anyway not meant to be- so I hope , I dream and I pray for June 2021 and that trip on the Apex.

I am US based so not sure what applies to you. But since you haven’t made final payment yet, you are only risking your deposit. If you have a non-refundable deposit, the normal policy would be you lose $100 per person as a penalty and the rest of your deposit would go to a future cruise credit. Under cruise with confidence, they are giving it all back to you in a future cruise credit instead of keeping the penalty fee. It’s a better deal and with a non-refundable deposit you would never get it back in cash.

if you had a refundable deposit, you should be able to get that back.

Thank you for your reply - because I had booked my flights through Celebrity as well - I have paid approx €1300  and my understanding from the TA is I would lose all of this if I cancel now but by cancelling under Cruise With Confidence I’ll get this in FCC so I suppose it makes sense if I cancel under the terms of Cruise With Credit: my next decision is whether I wait until end of April nearing final Payment to cancel or should I do so now in case Celebrity change the t/c of Cruise With Confidence,!

I was sooo looking forward to my cruise on the Apex! One wonders will they have to postpone her med sailings- not looking good for her Italian and Spanish ports!

  3. Hi

I’m based in Ireland and have a booking for the Apex sailing from Rome on the 27th June. My final payment date has been extended to April 30th  (57 days) I have not paid in full yet.

I went to my travel agent yesterday who told me that there is no offer of a cash refund to me if I cancel now. They say if I cancel under Cruise With Confidence I will get what I’ve paid so far in FCC: I have read on some other thread here that if one cancels before final payment date that I would get a full cash refund.? Can anyon e clarify this.?  I believe this cruise and many others won’t happen anyway  but I don’t know am I prepared to pay in full and get FCC for the lot. I would be very nervous about cruise companies surviving this great challenge.

As other people have said the prices of cruises have increased a lot over what I was paying for my present cruise. I do feel sorry for Celebrity and all those associated with the travel industry as all of this is unprecedented . Difficult times for all.

  4. Hi all

i am hoping to book a med cruise for end of June for my husband and myself. We have sailed with Celebrity before and loved it . We are looking at a sailing on the Apex or on Norwegian Epic. Just wondering peoples views on both.  We would be taking a balcony cabin =we are both in our early Very early 60's!!thanks

  5. Gosh these Infinite verandas are certainly a talking point for Celeb - very mixed opinions on them. It would appear to me that it will be a very personal opinion about them whereas a regular balcony everyone loves - even though some question the price difference over ocean view/inside cabin is it worth it- but definitely is if budget will stretch. I think there will be a lot of discussion around the infinite   balcony v  the regular balcony over the coming months - interesting to read after it’s time on the Med.

  6. Hi thank you for your response and yes I think I will book the Edge. I know this is what we really want to experience this new ship. Am heading to my TA to discuss my options. When I am engaging here in the board I get so excited just thinking about cruising - bliss!!!

You can't go wrong with this decision so it's a fun one. Since you have sailed both lines and have an idea which you prefer, I would say go ahead and jump aboard the Edge.  Brand new ship with lots of novel design elements and public spaces.  Calmer atmosphere, more aligned with, shall we say, a mature customer.  Then you can get on to the even more fun part of exploring your destinations, planning your excursions, booking any desired onboard activities.

You might be a bit surprised that there could be a proportionally high number of children on almost any mainstream cruise during the summer, even Celebrity.  They all market to families to some extent, all have very good little kiddie and older kid clubs with scheduled activities, all have good pool and sport areas for them. The economy has been pretty good of late here in the US and others might be just as interested as yourself in this opportunity to introduce their brood to Europe.  What easier way than aboard a ship? Unpack once, sleep in luxury, awake in a new country.

Thank you - yes I think I’m favoring the Edge - it is the price of the guarantee balcony that is pricing it ok at the minute. Need to chat to my TA around the balcony aspect as I really would prefer the regular balcony. Small problems. Thank you again for your advice I like it! Cruising is such a lovely way to holiday - we really hadn’t intended leaving it so long but....hopefully this year!

  8. Oh wow a lot of really good vibes for Oasis - I must say we really did enjoy the Navigator but also loved the Equinox - different feel on both ships - Celeb more sedate in the best possible way - as I said we loved it. Both Oasis and Edge are appealing to us as different class ships to our previous cruises. We have done the Med on both so ports are familiar to us. This time it really is all about the ship. We would like to do the Caribbean but doesn’t suit this year . Thanks to all for their comments really helpful.

  9. Yes that is the cruise we are looking at!! He pricing I’ve gotten at the minute is for guarantee balcony - no perks but don’t mind that as we really wouldn’t get value from the beverage package.  I must check it all out tomorrow when I visit my TA. Mid ship infinity - sounds good plus perks great. If we book I’ll let you know!! Have some things to sort out before I can commit to that date. Many thanks 😎😎😎

  10. Good to know this I’ve seen pictures of that porthole balcony idea on RC site and would not like it!! I suppose this is the risk you take with a guarantee balcony! Although some have had good luck with the guarantee. Would you book an infinite if you going on the Edge again or would you prefer regular balcony? Sorry for all the questions!!

  11. Thank you so much for your reply - price difference re cruise flights transfers approx €650 which is marginal considering it is the Edge! Will put abut more thought into it before I book but to be honest am edging  towards the Edge. But like the Oasis- decisions decisions!!

  12. Hi thanks for your reply. Any suggestions re another  ship June 29th /30th weekend suits me to take holiday- preferably need to be in mainland Europe could you r,e-commend another cruise line? I have read a lot of the reviews on the Edge and see they are quite mixed although the more recent ones appear to be more positive. I realize the Oasis is a larger ship only fear I have here is that  it will be quite busy as it is school holidays but I would like to experience this size ship also.Loved the Navigator when we did it.

  13. Hi not sure if this the right place for this question. I have cruised before - twice now looking at booking cruise for June Edge or Oasis- both in the Med it’s the ship I’m interested in. We are a couple in our early 60s very early!  Have cruised once with RCC and once with Celeb. any advice?thanks
