  1. Ohio girl:

I understand completely. I do not smoke but my wife does. She is considerate of others and will only smoke when and where no one else will be impacted. I think the fact that someone would out of confusion complain of someone using an e-cig because they thought they were smoking a real cigarette shows that the for some it is not necessarily that there is any impact on them at all, there is no way the "smoke" could be bothering them, but rather the mere sight is such an offense as to justify restricting someone's behavior. It bothers me that this attitude is so prevalent because in principle it shows that many think that it is appropriate for authorities to mandate social behavior instead of people being polite, civil, and moral on their own. I believe this is a milestone on the road to acceptance of totalitarianism. Freestyle cruising is a little less free now.

  2. I believe there is an issue with the longshoremen in New Orleans and Tampa refusing to handle cases of water or soda. If you put them in a suitcase or bag it should be no problem getting them on the ship. I don't know if you would have to go to the "naughty room" to open the bag up or not. When we have sailed out of New Orleans we have carried them on ourselves. We have a cruise scheduled out of Houston in November and I am looking forward to just putting a room tag on the cases and checking them. Hopefully that is allowed in Houston.

  3. We were on the Jewel in April 2014 and had a 2BR suite. The furniture in the sitting area was showing its age. Also the couch/bed in the 2nd bedroom was very hard. The bed in the main bedroom was OK, but i have a back which stiffens up on some mattresses after 5 hours or so and i had to get up very early daily. The owners suite bed I could sleep in all night without a problem. It would be nice if they upgraded the main bed's mattress too. By the way, i don't think very many people would have any problem with the mattress in the main BR, i had no problem falling asleep and my wife slept like a baby on it.

So, has anyone stayed in the Haven since dry dock and have the suites been improved? Also, have they done anything with the concierge lounge on 15?

  4. They take you to the bow of the ship and tie two ropes to you. One crew member goes to port and one to starboard. Then you are thrown off the front of the ship while the crew, one on each side, run down the length of the ship with the ropes as fast as they can! If you manage to miss the props, when they get to the stern they pull you up and all is forgiven!

  5. You should have already received a preconcierge letter and your priority boarding luggage tags. The booze isn't a big deal because your butler can get it for you once you are on board. You can print out the luggage tags if need be but I would call NCL. We were in OS 9004 on the Jewel in December and liked it so much that we are back on board for April 6th in a 2BR haven suite. Get ready to be pampered!

  6. Actually as a person with a degree in Statistic, surveys are done because they are fairly accurate representations of the population as a whole. For you to dismiss a survey and argue with people about it, and instead offer only your opinion based on talking with a few staff members is far more inaccurate. Food for thought...
