The Pacific is always a step above all other ships! She is my favorite.....

Where are the USB outlets? I read that they were supposed to be added to the lamp by bed. True?
Looks like the Sea and the Star are the only ones with USB outlets. The Star received the new lamps at the bedside that contained two USB outlets during their summer wet dock. It was great. But, heard that those lamps were very pricey and ergo may not be used on all ships. :(

We are also sailing on the Royal that date. Really looking forward to it. I've been trying to upgrade our balcony cabin but no luck since it is completely sold out.
lol.....We don't even have our cabin assignment yet. We are in a mini suite guarantee.....and patiently waiting. May have to opt to bunk with the Captain, if no assignment happens.

While on a Mexico cruise aboard the Ruby this past October, our bottled water was "Agua" from Sam's Club. We had the very same thought!! lol

You are so lucky to meet Jo.....she is an awesome bartender and a great friend!! Unfortunately, she is going on Holiday the day we board the Royal....February 2, 2019. Please, please give her a hug and hello from Don and Suzie!!

I think I read here on CC that he will be assigned to the Sky Princess.
We agree, as we were just told, while aboard the Star, that Oscar will be debuing on the Sky. As others, I wonder how he will do aboard such a large ship. Oscar WAS a major player on the Pacific.
-
We are booked on the Pacific Princess in October and was wondering weather Oscar Perego has returned to his post as Maitre D'?Several on CC said he's going to the Sky.
We've sailed on the Pacific three times, and each time Oscar was our Matre 'd. I just cannot comprehend the Pacific Princess without Oscar.
I do know at one time he was assigned to either the Royal or Regal....and that didn't last too long. That type venue is just not suited for Oscar's personality and talent.

Unfortunately, I believe James Eaton (who is a fantasic officer and spokesperson for Princess) is leaving the ship on our embarkation day. He is doing some training in Florida for a few days, and then joining the Emerald Princess for about a month before his holiday.
The officers, staff and crew aboard the Ruby are the premium on the Seven Seas......they are super!

We are just off the Island PC Partial Transit. The AIBP on board was offered for sale up to the 4th to last day of the cruise. From the Patter: "Package can be purchased any day of the cruise and will be effective from the time and day of sign up. The All Inclusive Package can be purchased no later than 4 days prior to the voyage ends."
That would be a great change to the fleet of Princess. Sometimes, the sea days are at the end, and it would be beneficial. The AIBP is a great tool.....and not just to drink yourself silly with alcohol.
-
Wowie Zowie! It seems Rui keeps being listed for different ships. I have to wonder which is correct. We sail on Emerald October 8 and are wondering who will be on the ship. It seems to be bouncing back and forth between a couple of folks. Of course whoever starts in March may well just be ending a contract when we sail...
We just sailed on the Emerald (4-12 through 5/10) and Rui joined the Emerald in Sydney on April 12th.

First I went to post #205, to copy the link. It is:
http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=2038576&page=11
So many will state, I don't drink that much too warrant the charge for a beverage package. However, those small charges really add up.
Two cups of coffee, two sodas, two pre-dinner drinks, two glasses of wine at dinner, an after dinner cordial, a cup of great chamomile tea to take to your cabin at night, and maybe one or two bottles of water will FAR exceed that the drink package cost. Change any of the drinks for a cup of cappuccino and you still are at an cost savings.
The above is no way is excess drinking....now add the bottles of water to go ashore. Voila.....it's a done deal!!

Does anyone have any photos of the tiny public balconies that are located at the aft corners on Ruby Princess near cabins E732 and E733?
TIA :)
Those areas are not public balconies. We have stayed in cabin D732 and D733 many times. There are no public areas to those, the ship just wraps to the back at the suites.

I'm sure this has been covered, how many bottles of wine can I bring onboard initially? Can I bring more on at ports of call?
Is there a corkage fee at the MDR?
Thanks and will see you onboard.
You many bring as many bottles of wine as you wish.....HOWEVER, there is a $15 corkage fee for each bottle of wine OVER the one bottle per adult; i.e., you and your significant other may bring one bottle of wine each on embarkation without any fees attached. Should you wish more than one bottle each, there is a $15 corkage fee per bottle.
Bringing more wine aboard in each port is a flip the coin issue. Sometimes, especially when there are wine tours available in a port, you may again bring on bottles of wine. If they do not let you bring them aboard, they will hold them and deliver the wine at the end of the cruise. How many bottles is again a toss of a coin. One time when on the big island of Hawaii, a friend brought back a case of wine, and was allowed to take it to her cabin without issue. Another time and another ship, they took my one bottle of wine, and delivered it at the end of the cruise.

This thread is long and finding the most recent version located at post #205 can be difficult. Here is a link to that file. Princess Beverage Package Evaluator ver2
Thank you for saying this......we should be a little more diligent in letting "newcomers" know where to find the most current spreadsheet. The Evaluator is awesome.
We have determined that it is not a contest to drink as much as one can. It is just nice not to have to think about the a la carte way.....if you want something, just get it....i.e., a bottle of water as you are walking past a venue. The well drinks and glasses of wine (average at $10 with gratuity), beer is now at about $8, it doesn't take long to add these costs to realize the all inclusive package is really worth it.
-
Makes me smile every time this post pops up again.... It's been doing the rounds for years now.
More of us need to say thank you to the person that created this great tool. It is an awesome tool.
Most look at the package for the alcohol portion....but there really is so very much more to the package.....i.e., bottled water for every port, great coffees and teas....not to mention the fantastic glasses of wine for before dinner, during and after dinner....wink
A big hug to you!!
-
If there is a problem with being seated in the AT Dining room, my suggestion would be to go back to Traditional in the MDR. You will have your seat, each and every dinner meal.....
We prefer the Traditional dining, as we appreciate having the same waitstaff each and every night.....knowing our preferences and being ready to please.

Google is your friend:

Big thank you!! I really appreciate you sharing your knowledge! BTW, you and your sister were great and very quiet neighbors on the Pacific's 50th Anniversary cruise!!

So I guess that I waited to long to book our hotel because all the hotels in the downtown area are pretty much out of our price range!! I don't really want to stay by the airport because we came to Seattle a day early to see the sights... Space needle, pikes market. Can any one suggest either a hotel in the downtown area that is under $200. That is close to these. Or another area that we could still be close to the sites and easily get to the cruise ship the next morning, thanks so much!!

I usually use the Trivago as my search engine, and have had good luck with it. The couple of times we have stayed in Seattle, we stayed at the TravelLodge by the Space Needle. It is not great, but it is clean, and usually under $200 per night. The great part, it is two blocks from the Space Needle and the associated park. It is walking distance (about a mile) to Pike Market. Very convenient for walking.

Are they not offering the new beds for the New Class as well. That's what my
notice said that they sent me as my mini suite was upgraded to M1.
Happy Travels
I really do not understand the "new bed" concept. I believe the "new beds" have already been in place on the Ruby since last January. They are a very dreamy bed, by the way!!
