yes the wine is 1 - 750ml bottle per person and an 18 dollar corkage fee -I recall- for more. I've never cruised on HAL before so I'm new but have been reading/researching for a March 2016 21 Day Panama Canal cruise. I copied the information below from another post as there is or has been much talk on the subject over the past few months I have been reading with interest. Hope this helps...
Here are the drinks packages that HAL offers:

Here is the Bar Menu from May 2015 but it has been reported that prices are a bit higher for each drink:

I can't answer your question but I can tell you that HAL mattress are very comfortable. A step above what you would expect. That will also provide you will an egg crate topper. As a former nurse, I can tell you the egg crate might be warm and cause you to sweat and stick to the sheets which can tear delicate skim. Just letting you know it is available.
Yes 40 plus years in a wheelchair has taught me much. My two cruises down to the Mexican Rivera using the alternating air pad relevied some pressure... but I thought I pissed the bed it was sweat and the low air-loss blows and drys the skin. I kinda thought keeping me dry was bs until I experienced it.
I'll be okay on the alternating air pad I'm sure. But will check my options as it would/could be much better.
And yes I understand agree and worry about trying to bring it on as a cargo box. To many things to go wrong.
I'll keep giving this thought. -- thanks

Probably a silly looking question. I sleep on a bed, powered or inflated by a computer/air pumps and moves through the night so I don't get pressure sores... for those that know what a low air-loss mattress is... it's simple. I lay mine on a bed box sporing in place of the mattress - perfect.
I've always used an alternating air pad on my other two cruises but never gone 21 days and my skins just not what it was. I could roll it up and mail it... no that won't work. Bring it as cargo? it rolls up good but still bulky.
I don't think CareVacations has them. I've asked but will be speaking to them soon about other items and putting the alternating air pad or low air-loss. I've used the alternating pressure pad and been okay ten days. My skin's just not as tough. Be great to have my good mattress. Real a necessity.
Too much work on both ends to deal with I suppose. I'm in MT, headed to Ft Lauderdale to San Diego in March.
Any thoughts appreciated.

Yes, I always bring need and used an extension cord for my medical equipment on both my Princess cruises and no one said a thing.
Are plain extension cords with multiple outlets okay on HAL? I assume. More about clutter than power use.

I have only cruised twice and just recently 2013, 2014 and planned a 2016 but I can say this site has been just great for me and should help many. I can't afford to continue cruising so will not have a reason to come back here. just to dream... and I am not informed enough to answer many questions.
I am/was a newbie starting 2012 or 2013 and seriously the 2016 cruise will be my last. Maybe I'll find a nice deal on an interior room someday and still find away as I've loved it.
I, Thank you all

Half Moon Cay is HAL's private island. Finding accessible tours is not an option at this port.
Suggest you begin by :
- Doing a search of each port on CC's disabled forum.
- Doing a GOOGLE search using the key phrase "Wheelchair Accessible Tours (insert port ) "
Thank you, yes I have combed through most CC threads in the forums. I'm slowly finding bit and pieces. I have googled them all. I can't get off at Cabo and know Puerto Vallarta.
I got everything from Half Cay and right no tour needed. I will probably choose 1 or 2 ports to do this as cost is a lot. Puerto Vallarta has been fun but I'd really enjoy seeing other sites.
Thanks again, I'll keep digging... I have 14 pages using size 11 font full of info on the various ports nothing on transportation.

Hello,

I rented one last year in Puerto Vallarta or they picked me up... dropped us off for 4 hrs and we met at a location and took us back to the ship. We were able to see a lot.
or where to look or start searching.

I just can't find a link here I was reading... Hal's regulations on bringing on alcohol. Sounds like a 750ml of wine per person.
I'll be on a 21 day cruise in a SY suite and there is three of us. I'm interested in beverage packs, laundry I found can be bought on board after the first Gala night.
Trying to think from my first two cruises if there might be something more. Seems like last night I had four ideas but can't remember now...
Anything I can pay before is better for me... I found a good thread on buying beer and getting a small deal. Buckets similar to Princess...
and this package is like water or different juices. I meant non alcohol. Then deal on beer or vodka would work too. There is a link to the prices some where on this site.
Thanks for any advice
-
No I agree it's deserved, don't mind paying it... we pay it either way first/last. I'd rather just pay it before hand. It makes little difference your right.

I went in April 2013 with a ship excursion and found a great little place it had 4 or 5 flavored types various aged tequila... was fun but a long drive and a quick tour. Last year we spent more time on Malecon and I think the price was about the same and look at post 4 it mentions the Malecon also it's a must if first time or little time.
-
For Pete's sake I wish they would just add it into the cost of the cruise. Heck we the customer is going to pay it one way or the other. I just wish it was up front.
Agreed

I just talked to HAL. There are no rooms that are HC and sleep three. Makes my choice easy and I don't have to give up my suite. So it's buy an interior stateroom on deck 5.
Thanks again to all,
-
Another silly question. The room I currently have 5001 is it on the same level as the bow? or one floor up. I thought it was even with where the bow has flat area in front. But if I am counting right and reading Scrapnana's writing and photos right it looks like it's a deck up off the bow. There is a window in it too. So that makes sense.
Just making sure I am counting decks right.

A question to you seasoned cruise people here... If I do and think I will as us brothers/sisters will figure it out the $$ But I see little reason to buy/purchase now an interior room. They will defiantly be there, yes choice might be limited but the prices should fall - right? After final payment date.
-
Thank you all. Great photos. I have time.

Hello,
I am on HAL's 21 day Panama cruise next March. I am currently in room SY5001 an awesome suite. I would really like to take my Mother but that will involve getting an additional interior room.
I am considering downgrading and if I can cut enough costs bring my Mother. I'll call about a quote.
Questions...
First, does VB6003 have a view forward?
Second, do you know if the deck gets cut off or smaller in that room.
Yes, I do need a HC room I am in a power chair 24/7 unless it is bedtime.

I've sailed on Princess twice and this is my first on my HAL. My invoice/itinerary shows me as 1 star mariner. My friend was on Princess once and she shows as a 1 star also.
-
Thanks all, I'll check again.
-
I booked with HAL an SY Suite in April 2015 for March 12th 2016 a 21 day Panama canal cruise. I called HAL today and was told it did not apply to this cruise.
-
I'm handicapped and was researching and although they claim to be ADA compliant I trust the voices of the people that have been there. Maybe once inside things are but as you know you need to know what is in between the ship and the cabana's.
-
Enjoy your cruise Randy
Thanks, and you do the same best of luck.

I never cruises on HAL, I definitely want to try it. I am in my late 30s, but Carnival and NCL just does not do it for me, I prefer to be around much older crowd, that are more quitter and calmer.
I myself broke my neck when I was 15 years old a sophomore in high school other than that issue I'm a good guy. I'll take 2 caregivers with me and am thinking of asking my mother again. I took her last year on her first/only cruise and she loved it. This looks to be a great cruise.
Have some great cruises, email if you wish. Thank you, Randy

Well I'm single, male and 55 and cruising on March 12th 2016 a 21 day Panama Canal on the Westerdam. Looks like a great cruise with a lot of stops.
Can a person take a low air-loss mattress on a HAL ship?

It would fit so it must be narrower than ones you've seen. I'd love a wider one here at home. It just won't work logistically. I was just checking if something like this had done before/often. I'll bring the alternating air pad with a good quality memory foam top as it's worked good my only other two cruises. CareVacations put it on ship for me as I mailed it ahead of time that helped.
Yes, I am very familiar with the ROHO products. Currently sitting on a 6 year old ROHO now because a new RIDE cushion created problems last January. A change in material used to make the cushion made it to hard to sit on otherwise it was a great concept and the old one worked 4 or 5 years with minor modifications.
I am a side sleeper/layer but only right my Left side creates problems. My back works but I just don't sleep as well. Frustrates me I can't sleep on my left side. I have a very boney trochanter. - got to watch it.
I really do appreciate the input. I was curious.
