  1. Thinking of doing a cruise right before my next cruise on a different line.  I will do a status match from Celebrity to Royal (I'm only Captains Club Select which if I read correctly will make me Platinum) although not many benefits from what I have read.  Also thinking that since the cruise I am looking at is a 5 day cruise doing without an internet package.  Good/bad idea?  I am wanting to do cheap but having the deluxe beverage package.  Thanks in advance for your thoughts.

@Linda W.not sure date of your cruise, if over how did you find the Interior on Deck 18? It is hard to tell if Interiors are indeed all the same size. I booked one on Deck 18 yesterday, limited choice, but as most people who choose an Interior say they are seldom in the cabin.

Our room was small BUT it was adequate!  Plenty of closet space, easy to get to both sides of the bed, under bed storage for our luggage, bathroom size adequate BUT the shower was VERY small!  I ended up going to the spa and using the shower there to shave my legs!  Overall I would DEFINITELY book an inside again!  Even if I had to book the same room.  It was just lovely.

Guess we were the luck ones.  We saw our Butler and assistant Butler 2-3 times A DAY!  As for the wine, no it wasn’t $50.00 wine but our waiter made sure we found something we liked at dinner.  I guess it comes down to expectations.  I expected an upscale experience and that is EXACTLY what we got!  I did NoT expect perfection and I was very appreciative of all of the staffs hard work etc to make sure that the cruisers had the best experience they could.  I believe there were some SNOBS in the YC that felt “entitled”.  Sadly they probably didn’t have nearly the same fun and wonderful experience that we did because they were always wanting more and more and more.  We loved it and will book another.  Just my two cents.  Take it or leave it.

  4. I am in LOVE with the Yacht Club that now I would never book anything but the YC on MSC!!  Also having a problem thinking about any other cruise line that would offer anything close to this!  Simply the best!  It's like a four seasons resort only better!

I'm currently on Seascape in a YC interior room. Top Sail opens at 6am, YC pool bar at 7am. You can get a coffee from either. Or like was suggested earlier make a nespresso in your room and bring it out onto the pool deck.

I’ve never used an espresso.  Guessing it is like a Keurig?  On this topic of the nespresso do they have nespresso hot chocolate?  Guessing no but while I am here in freezing icy weather it sounds really good.

Although I failed to bring my tape measure on board with me, our December 2023 Seascape YIN booking was advertised as 226 square feet.  Judge for yourself by these photos of YIN 18029.  It sure did not seem overly spacious to us….

Does the luggage fit under the bed?  Hopefully the television swivels so that we can watch it in bed!  How did you find the bathroom?  Is there a way to plug in the hair dryer in there or a razor?  Thank you for the help!!!

  8. I talked with an agent on MSC the other day.  I was asking about purchasing an upgrade from the YIN to a balcony YC room.  He said they were all sold out.  I asked him just how small my room is.  He said 17sq m.  I said oh gosh my husband won't be happy I did this!  I asked the agent if they were all this small and he said no.  But he did say I didn't have the SMALLEST room but almost!  I told him I got one of the last 3 rooms in the YC when I booked.  I didn't really have much of a choice and I did this on my own without a travel agent and was talking directly with someone from MSC when I booked. Perhaps that person wasn't informed on the best rooms (although perhaps the ones left were all that size) so maybe or maybe not I screwed up.  I booked in a hurry before those rooms were gone and should have done some homework.  This will be our first YC and for that matter MSC experience.  We are going to be in room 18033 and hopefully all will be okay.

The only time I got alcohol confiscated was when Gulmohar’s sent our bottles directly to the ship naughty room. We were on a mission to go to the French side to buy chartreuse so didn’t want to carry the bourbon around.

We are currently on a different line that doesn’t offer drink package. We accidentally smuggled a bottle of rare tequila onboard. We were ready to turn it in but no one was paying any attention.

how did you get it on the ship without it being confiscated?

Did you speak with the stateroom attendant about it? If not, that's your fault. You were only assuming others would be complaining. Maybe they were making the same assumption you did.  I agree with your daughter. No way. What about your PCS?

I think he said in his initial post he wasn’t sure if he had met his stateroom attendant.  He also didn’t have the number to contact him.  On the Dilhouette the Hotel Directors office was adjacent to customer service.  I’ve never been on the Equinox and now never will!  Because of your Celebrity loyalty if you have the invite to the helipad all the Directors attend.

    The best answer is "maybe".

We were on a cruise in December and stopped in St. Maarten.  We stopped at the Gulmohar's for a specific bourbon a couple of friends wanted.  We brought back 3 bottles.

I went through security with the bottles in a bag and and my seapass card in my hand.  I had a suite, so the distinctive silver card.

The security officer told me to place the bottles in my suitcase in my room and not to drink them on board.  "Great!" I replied,  "These are for people at home. I'll pack them right away."

    Your mileage may vary.

I know Gulmohar’s very well!  Hopefully you had time to go across the street to the Lux Bar.  So nice and Kat is the BEST mixologist I know!  Planning on seeing them all next month!

  12. Lawn Club Grill is one of my favorites!  Love the atmosphere, love the chocolate cookie, ribeye, salad bar.  I happily pay my fee to eat here vs. the main dining room.  On the Silhouette on our last cruise the food in the main dining room was terrible!  We have a 10 night cruise coming up and we purchased the 6 night specialty dining package to not have to eat in the main dining room except for 4 nights (or we can go to the buffet but not sure the offerings there for dinner anymore).  We purchased our package when they had the sale so I feel it was worth the upcharge.  I think if you are dissatisfied with a food item you can discuss it with your server and they would be happy to offer something else.

We board the Connie this week.

About a month ago, X ran a big sale and we upgraded from Classic to Premium. I did it based on the following :

Champagnes and favorite wines such as Conundrum White and Red Blends, Decoy Cabernet Sauvignon, J&H Selbach Riesling Kabine, Mouton Cadet Bordeaux Blend, and Edmeades Zinfandel

I just checked and the link still takes me to this information. I'll have this information at the ready when I order my first glass of Decoy!!

I'll have to relook at my booking as they took Decoy OUT of the premium beverage package AFTER they marketed it.  We will see.  I emailed the executive office about it but of course, doubt they care.

  14. I only want what was marketed to us when we booked and PAID for our cruise.  Seems Celebrity hooks you in and then changes things to make you pay MORE for what you assumed was agreed upon when booking.  I understand changing prices.....what I don't understand is why they think it is ok for us to be forced to sign a contract and then the agreement they make for their offering, i.e. premium beverage package selections changes AFTER our last payment due date.  Seems like they KNOW they are getting you hooked and then charging you more.  That is why I am moving on after this next cruise.  This new president was obviously put there for a reason.  To smile and make us think she is there to better our experience.  Really???

  15. Interesting I have always received the captains club email for getting points for watching webinars etc. to earn points.  Didn't get it in December.  Was it because I sent an email to the president of Celebrity cruises about my dissatisfaction with making a booking in good faith and then after final payment they took away the things that were marketed for me (us) to entice us to purchase a cruise?  I always get the offers and noticed that many people got the email and watched a webinar.  I just find it odd timing that this time I didn't get it.  Haven't changed anything in my account, get many emails from Celebrity etc.  Just not the ability to get more points---not that it is necessarily going to impact me in the future it is just another thing.

The complaints are because we book a cruise and pay for what was being offered.   We are paying what they are asking.      When we get on the cruise the services have been cut and the products have been eliminated.    We aren’t getting what we paid for and agreed to.

    Happy cruising 🌊🚢🇺🇸🌅

Yes!  Celebrity marketing sells us a cruise which entitles us to certain things THEN either removes them or makes you pay more for what you already paid for when you booked!   Not sure of the legal term but for some of us that is just downright dirty.  I understand cruise lines needing to adjust prices to meet their financial needs but don’t sell us something and then not give us what we PAID for!  That is why after this next cruise we have in Feb. may be our last on Celebrity.  All I want is to get what we were marketed for when we booked.

    Itineraries

    Nothing Earth-shattering.

(It is just an R & R cruise after all.)

    Seascape

    Sa Dec 9  - 6p -  depart Miami

    Su Dec 10  -  7a-4p -  Nassau

Mo Dec 11  -  at sea

    Tu Dec 12  -  10-5  - San Juan, PR

    We Dec 13 - 10-6  -  Puerto Plata

Th Dec 14  -  at sea

    Fri Dec 15  -  8a-8p -  Ocean Cay

    Sa Dec 16  -  7a  -  arrive Miami

    Summit

    Sa Dec 16  -  4pm  -  depart Miami

Su Dec 17  -   at sea

    Mo Dec 18  -  7-5  -  Cozumel

Tu Dec 19  -  at sea

    We Dec 20  -  10-6  -  Nassau

    Th Dec 21  -  7am  -  arrive Miami

At the time of booking the initial Seascape itinerary had us departing Miami at 5pm, departing Nassau at 2pm, and departing Ocean Cay at 10pm.  This minor itinerary adjustment is a small idiosyncrasy we haven’t previously encountered with Celebrity as far as I can remember.

Our first day in Nassau has a forecasted high of only 80 degrees, so we may go for a walk to the John Watling’s Distillery just to warm up.   We plan on having a walk around Old San Juan on our own.

Puerto Plata and Ocean Cay are new for us.  I booked an excursion for Puerto Plata through the MSC cruise planner.  Their website did not permit me to use my available OBC, so I used a credit card.

On Summit we have a decent OBC to burn, so I booked excursions in Cozumel and Nassau.

What did you book in Puerto Plata?  That is the one port I would NOT book an excursion.  I have been to Puerto Plata for vacation for a week and wouldn't return most likely other than on a cruise.  They have a nice cruise port area with a large pool (actually only know about Taino Bay).  Can't wait to hear about the Seascape YC.  We go in February after returning from being on the Silhouette and making our way from FLL-Miami with a 2 nighter on South Beach.  I am really hoping I love MSC as I am VERY frustrated with Celebrity.

I am back on silhouette, which has been my favorite ship but the vote isn’t out yet for this cruise.

I just found out that decoy, a wine which has been on the premium package, is now a two dollar up charge. They have re-price mini mini wines. I don’t know all the details, but that one was a shocker.

meantime, I am happy to answer any questions anyone night at

Sorry just a question about the wine-are you saying that with the premium beverage package you have to pay additional for decoy??

  19. I am not getting any bids to upgrade.  Already booked in the YC and it is sold out so maybe that’s the problem?  Our cruise is in February so maybe it is too early?  I have given permission for emails etc but don’t get the emails from marketing from MSC like I do on Celebrity.  Wonder if I am missing something?
