  1. I upgraded about 2 hours ago for our 10 night cruise in February for $6.99pp/per night.  Best I’ve seen ever!  Couldn’t use the additional Captains Club discount but that’s ok.  In speaking with someone from Celebrity about 3 weeks ago to upgrade to premium he suggested I wait until December because there would be a sale. (We shall see).   But when I read these posts today I grabbed it!  Now I’m just hoping they don’t change what’s IN the premium beverage package!

  2. We don't have any OBC as we booked directly with MSC and evidently the package we got didn't have any.  Is there any way to purchase OBC's before we go?  And yes, I KNOW we should have gone through a travel agent but when I I was browsing and found this GREAT deal I grabbed it.

You can't believe everything you read.  We sailed on the Seascape in a Fantastica balcony and it was a great cruise.  Everything was perfect.  We never waited for drinks, never found a problem getting around the ship and enjoyed all the shows and meals.  The only thing we didn't care for was eating with other people.  Our tablemates were nice but 2 couples didn't speak English and we don't speak Spanish so our table was very quiet. I mean really complaining about usb ports?  Is that really a complaint?  I will agree about the buffet but we would definitely cruise MSC again. The only thing I might change would be to a Aurea balcony, that way we could eat when we want and by ourselves.

How rude of you to say that!  She was giving HER experiences NOT YOURS!  Everyone is entitled to their opinion and if you don't like it keep it to yourself!  No wonder why some people don't post here on this message board.  It's because of responses such as yours.  Shame on you.

To be fair, with their cutbacks they also "cut" the CEO job title; Laura is only the President, not also the CEO like LLP, X is becoming more like RCI, and X's parent company is run by a former CFO; all those are facts.  Now for the coincidental speculation, the Parent Company company sacked LLP so they could call the shots/standardize with RCI and now it's the President's job to implement the changes at the operational level.  Again, just speculation, nothing more

Yes I meant to say she’s the President.

  5. Seems like Celebrity is making lots of changes now they have a new CEO.  Celebrity is definitely NOT the superior cruise line it used to be.  I know I am studying other cruise lines and after our next cruise in February may say goodbye to Celebrity.  I'm wondering just what this new CEO is REALLY trying to accomplish besides getting rid of loyal Celebrity cruisers?

Now!  There is a flash Sale about to expire.

I ended up purchasing 2 at the sale price of $3.99pp/per day for myself.  Now I am thinking as I can only use on device at a time perhaps I only needed to pay for one upgrade to premium??

Already booked in YC still get a chance for upgrade bid.

Usually offer comes right after final payment.

Some agencys do not participate in the program so you would not get the offer. I have heard that the "big box" stores do not participate.

We have an Internet agency & always get the offers.

Oh!  Perhaps it is because I haven’t submitted our final payment!  I had read somewhere that there was no benefit to hurry and pay it off but evidently there is!  I booked directly through MSC not a big box.

  8. Question:  if we are already booked in the YC but would like the opportunity to bid for a better/bigger YC stateroom will they send out an offer?  I noticed someone on our ship was given the opportunity to bid for the YC for our same date but we weren’t.  Is it because we are already booked in the YC?  First cruise with MSC so trying to understand their system.  Thanks.

I don't think this is as much of an issue as you are making it out to be. We sail in inside rooms often. You will eventually wake up, whether light is coming into the room or not. A quick glance at your phone  or a clock will tell if you if its daytime or not. If you need to be up by a certain time, just set an alarm.

Didn't know I was making such an issue of it.  Just wanted opinions.  Thank you for your keen insight into knowing I would eventually wake up!  Yes, I know I can look at my phone.  Thanks.  If I knew how to close this thread I would.  That way it won't become "such an issue".  Thanks.

  10. We booked an inside cabin and if we can't/don/t get upgraded will most likely need something to let us know when it is daytime.  I think we can set the TV to a view from the front of the ship and just leave it on all night.  (Silhouette)  Or we could get a travel lamp that would come on automatically when it is daytime hours.  (IF I CAN FIND SUCH A THING).  I really am not sure I want a motion light but I don't really know how that would help to tell me it is morning.  Have never been in an inside cabin before.  We are Select and tried to get the travel agent to have Celebrity upgrade us from our Prime inside to an Oceanview but instead they just credited our account $$ and charged us for basic inside but gave us the Prime inside.  (so much for the upgrade to the next category even though there are plenty or rooms left!).  We are also in the Yacht Club on MSC following our 10 night in the Silhouette also in an inside room.  Anyway what are your opinions on lighting to let us know when it is daytime other than an alarm clock?  I really hate alarm clocks!  Thanks for the help!

A disadvantage of paying in full before the final payment date is that MSC rarely will give you a  price drop without canceling and re-booking, so you will be waiting for a large refund rather than just the deposit.   MSC refund times are notoriously erratic.

An advantage of paying in full is per the Terms & Conditions it locks out otherwise variable costs such as changing port fees, taxes and possible fuel surcharges.

ETA: I've only received upgrade bid offers after final payment.

After final payment and your upgrade offers were they closer to the sailing date?

  12. Just wondering if there are any advantages or disadvantages like other cruise lines to paying off in total your cruise early.  I know with other cruise lines you can sometimes get a reduced "fare" or OBC if the price goes down as long as you haven't paid off your cruise.  Unclear if there are any BENEFITS with MSC to paying it off as soon as possible.  (months prior to pay in full due date).   Will offers for upgrades happen after your have paid off your cruise if it is paid in full even if it is months (6-7) out?  Already in YC so just curious.  Trying to learn as much as I can as I go along. Thanks!😀

  13. Never having been on a MSC cruise and of course the YC how reasonable is it to be able to be off the ship, get your luggage and be out the door headed toward the airport at 9am?  I have never been on such a HUGE cruise ship and am not sure what time to schedule our flight home.  On our Celebrity cruises we never booked before noon but we usually were off with luggage by 8:30am.  But the size of those were much much smaller.  Thanks for your ideas and historical examples.
