  1. We used International Friends for the opposite direction after our cruise.

Some people were going to LHR for evening flights & some to London hotels .

We were picked up at the cruise port & our luggage was secured and we were off to tour. Our day in the opposite direction included Salisbury Cathedral, Stonehenge & Windsor Castle .

Our entry tickets to venues were purchased via Int .Friends at the time of booking.

Very good tour company. At John Bull's or Bob+++ recommendation I found it on londontoolkit...great website!

  2. The coastal path is just amazing. Our house-sitters from BC managed all of it when they were here last year but St Monans to Anstruther is one of loveliest parts.

There's a great fish and chip shop in St Andrews too if the OP is interested. It\s called Tailed and it's on Market Street

We are interested ...thanks for all this info.

  3. We are going on a British Isles cruise with Celebrity in August 2016. We would like to do a walking tour of the old course . I know these are available in August 2016 daily at 11am & 2 pm.

Does anyone know how far this golf course is from where Celebrity will tender? Would public transportation be an option or would a rental car be better ?

  4. My husband received a similar letter in 2010 & I believe the credit was $100 towards a future cruise. There was no email but an actual letter sent.

The outbreak was so bad on that cruise that extra medical people were brought onboard from another Celebrity ship to assist with care & evaluations.

The nurse from another ship actually came to our cabin to evaluate my husband to decrease the numbers coming to the medical office.

Unfortunately some cruisers were not cooperating with isolating when sick & one of our tablemates actually told us that her roommate had been symptomatic but did not report her illness & continued to come to the MDR for dinner!

  5. A clothesline - not a problem. They sell travel clotheslines on line and at Wal Mart along with other places.

The important thing to do when you wash clothes is to roll the damp things in a bath towel. Walk on the roll. This gets about 75% of the dampness out. Then put the towel on the floor to be laundered.

Since you can use magnets on the cabin walls I bring 2 heavyduty ones - from Home Depot- & attach the clothesline to the hooks. My washables are dry in the morning

  6. Has anyone used this tour company when disembarking the ship in Southampton. This tour goes to Salisbury, Stonehenge and Windsor castle. We will be on Navigator Of The Seas arriving May 21st.

We used International Friends for this tour in Aug 2015. WE used the londontoolkit site mentioned by John Bull.

We were met at the port after we disembarked & luggage was loaded & we were off! Busy busy day but so worth seeing these sites especially if you are not certain you will be returning to England.

I loved Salisbury Cathedral & the town is beutiful. Stonehenge was more my DH interest but the tour guide was very informative about the theory behing these stone formations.

The ride to Windsor took at least an hour & some people dosed until we arrived to this spectacular castle.

Some passengers were going to LHR & some of use directly to our various hotels. Transfers were handled efficiently. Great time but tiring. Our tour was on a saturday so the traffic flow was fine.

  7. We sailed out of Southampton on Eclipse Aug 2015. The MDR menus on the RIGHT hand side were the usual dinner rotations expected; the LEFT side was a bit different & inconsistent. Some evenings the main choices were fish & chips, calves liver & cannot recall if 3rd option was grilled chicken. Other evenings might be steak, fish & chips & calves liver. Even some Brits were looking for the usual steak, salmon, chicken that is on the MDR LEFT side on other Celebrity ships. Even some LEFT side veggies were different with cheesy cauliflower being quite a popular item & of course Yorkshire pudding . Still plenty of choices for all but things were a bit different from previous cruises.

Why are there only 2 sailings to the Pacific Coastal, May and September and in 2016 it was cancelled in favor of a charter. Yes we were booked on the Cruisetour for that.

With all kinds of issues in Europe, we would like to see more itineraries for North America, Pacific Coastal specifically. Not Alaska, there is plenty for that, but Rockies in Canada, then down the west coast with overnights in SanDiego, San Fran etc.

Hopefully Celebrity will take note of that.

    All comments are welcome.

My DH & I just talked about this very thing today...would love more Pacific Coast itineraries

  9. Any recommendations for either Hilton, DoubleTree or Embassy Suite properties in London that are centrally located with close access to transit systems or the hop on hop off buses? We'll be there for 2 full days next mid-May on Saturday and Sunday.

In August we stayed 2 nights post cruise at the Doubletree Westminster. Nice room & great buffet breakfast. The Original Big Bus HOHO is 2 blocks away...walk out of the entrance & turn right & walk 2 blocks . The HOHO stop is visible & the ticket may be purchased when boarding. The ticket also included the Thames river canal ride. Great time!

Hotel is easy walk to many well known sites in London.

  10. I am not sure what the price is to rent a tux, but I bought a used tux from a tux rental place and the tux was $90, a nice shirt was $5, bow ties $2. I added some really nice cuff links and pin buttons. Total price including alterations was $130.

If you are planning on multiple cruises, this might be the way to go.

DH rents one from Cruiseline Formal Wear so he does not have to pack one or even pack a suit for formal nights. For him it is about the convenience .

  11. Just last month we used International Friends for a pick up at the Southampton port to Salisbury,Stonehenge,Windsor Castle & then to our hotel. This was a long day but so enjoyable.

We stayed at the Doubletree in Westminster.Walked outside, turned right & walked 2 blocks to the stop for the Original Bus HOHO. We followed the whole circuit & since the ticket also included a canal boat ride, we did that as well. These were both great fun . Easy walk back to the hotel stopping at a pub for dinner, visited Westminster Abbey & had a great time.

Used Just for Airports to take us to LHR.

Heard about London Toollkit from John Bull ! Great website with soooo much info on London .

  12. DH has rented a tux on cruiseline formal wear for several cruises. It is convenient for him not to have to pack a suit, dress shirt & ties. He does bring his own size 13 EEE dress shoes because a EEE is not available.

Adjustments have had to be made to the tux fit on a couple of occasions but they were easily handled .

Decent price & cost covers up to 21 days I believe.

  13. The website is truly an embarrassment. I was trying to look at shore excursions for a booked trip & went in under "My Celebrity" with my reservation # etc. A message kept popping up about incorrect information & try again. This went on for 2 days & then & called Celebrity & 2 very helpful people told me that there was a website problem with"My Celebrity" & told me how to go around it to find out about the shore excursions on my particular cruise.

    Very frustrating!
