  1. We never book ships tours but on looking at the price of private tours in Tunis we decided to go with Cunard . We have over $1000 on board spend but to pre book we have to pay now, if we cancel they now charge 10%. So we wait until we are on board and hope there are places left. Any ideas!

I think that is a decision only you can make. I have just checked one of the tours I have booked for my cruise departing Sunday and the tour details state that bookings close 7 days prior to sailing. No chance of booking that one onboard.

  2. Have you looked inside your Voyage Personaliser to see if you have been given a stateroom number now? They are usually given about two weeks before sailing.

Thanks Ray, just checked and you are absolutely correct. The state room number is now there. Checked about a week ago and it wasn't.

    Thanks again.

    Mike.

  3. Sorry if this question sounds silly. On embarkation, the luggage is is taken prior to check in. on this trip, I booked early saver and as such I don't have a state room number to put on my luggage labels. Does this mean there will be a longer than usual delay in getting my luggage or are Cunard just very good at tying up state rooms with names?

Just exited now as we travel on Sunday!

  4. Quote from Wikipedia "Three card poker (TCP) is a poker variant played in casinos. In common with other such games it can also be played in other formats, such as in online gambling on the internet. It is the most profitable proprietary table game ever when measured by win generated for casinos or by revenue generated for the rights owners.". I'm sure its fun, but I don't like the odds and prefer playing Texas Holdem, which they don't play onboard.

  5. I did my first cruise on QV last year and paid full fare. We were allocated a boarding time of around 1:30 but arrived at about 12:30 and were in our state room by about 1:00. This year we have booked using an early saver fare and have been given a boarding time of 15:30. How early can we arrive at the port and stand a chance of getting on board without to much waiting around? In case it makes a lot of difference, this is a Southampton departure.

  6. We didn't love the "push chair" next to us with the invisable one playing with their iPad that was on full volume...or the one screaming thruout dinner...or the family that thought the little ones rule.

Personally, I dont think that this is acceptable behaviour anywhere. Even in McDonalds I would find this very anoying.

I know a number of families with children ranging from todlers to teenagers. I am shocked at how many of them think it acceptable for the child to be fed off a tray in front of the TV, or to play with a phone whilst eating. Let them eat with the parents, use the cutlery correctly and share conversation. This way when you take them on a cruise they will fit in and be accepted by all.

  7. It's no stereotype that's about correct most everywhere here.

    The British are very traditional.

    David.

Most definately not the norm in the UK. It may well have been 100 years ago, but even then only amongst the very wealthy.

  8. Cunard uses Apple computers so any computer classes are designed for Apple products.

We had classes on using the iPad (had to bring your own), most of which had a fee. There were also digital camera seminars and using Apple iPhoto. The digital camera seminar sounds very basic (I did not attend). The blurb for it says, "Ever wonder what all those buttons are for on your digital camera? Come and meet Eduard one of our talented photographers on board and learn about all the main functions of your digital camera and some useful tricks for all amateur photographers. Bring your cameras and accessories."

Ok thanks for the info. Don't think I'll bother then.

  9. Hi

Can any of the regular travelers give me any details on Cunard Connexions. Looking on line, these offer learning opportunities for a number of things such as computers. Whilst I am quite competent with a PC, I would like to learn more about using my camera and digital photo processing and wondered if there was any chance that this thought of thing might be included.

    Many thanks,

    Taz

  10. If your jeans are neat (not torn or faded) they may be acceptable with a jacket on informal nights.

    I think not.

Why do a lot of people want to push the dress code to the limit. Enjoy yourself but conform with the stated dress code and be happy with it. If you want to dress down, go with a different cruise line :(
