Maritime Matters reports the above ship, much loved in the US, and which I believe sailed for a bit for P&O Australia, as "under arrest and forlorn" in Formosa, ready for scrapping.

Built in 1956, at around 25,000GRT, she was quite a ship in her day. I sailed on her to Alaska in 1978, and enjoyed the experience very much.

thats so sad- i sailed on the fair princess back in 2000 and although the ship was rather old she was still impressive

Maritime Matters reports 8-17 that she has in fact been sold for scrap, some US$42M.

I made big error on scrap sale price, should have read $4.2M.
